Advertising FAIL

I'm sorry but this is incredibly important for the success of LBPKarting. The advertisment for this game has been absolutely terrible. NOBODY knows that it's coming out this week. Every single forum that even mentions LBPKarting have no idea it's even has a release date. Why is there so much advertisement for PSAlltars, but NO LBPkarting commercials when Sackboy is the head IP of the Playstation console??? | 2012-11-05 00:44:00 Author: Nick930930 Posts: 878 |
Sony games/products in general have never been highly advertised. Heck, I have NEVER seen a commercial for LBP1, LBP2, LBP PSP, OR LBPV. So this isn't really anything new (sadly). They may think since it is the LBP brand that people will buy it without a second thought like they do with Mario titles. But LBP isn't to the point where it can just kick back and have huge fanbases rush out to get the latest game. The series is still new(ish) and will have to earn that, if it even can. One things for certain: It will sell exceptionally better than MNR did and will sell good in the UK. They seem to love the LBP games, while the Japanese in general dislike it(hence not being released there), and us Americans are in the middle ground. It won't totally bomb but it also won't be a multi-million seller within the first week. There's nothing we can do about Sony's lack of advertising some of their games, I suppose they have financial priorities. But we can still support the game and try the old 'spread by word' trick. Not much else to do besides that. I know one things for sure: I'm getting this game day 1 and will be enjoying it whether people want to buy it or not. They're the ones missing out. | 2012-11-05 01:40:00 Author: The5rozos Posts: 952 |

Sony is mostly adrvitising in Europe, since this is other then Japan where they have most sales. In time of LBP1 relese the most popular Polish social site at it's time nasza-klasa was wass all covered with LBP ads theu i dont see LBP Karting ads as well i didnt seen LBP2 and it seems they mostly adrvitise hardware now | 2012-11-05 03:29:00 Author: Shadowriver Posts: 3991 |
Holy, yesterday I was watching 007's Skyfall, and a HALO 4 ad appeared before the movie. I had never seen a videogame ad in the cinema! Those Microsoft dudes really know how to advertise their stuff. It was a pretty epic commercial. Sadly, Sony just doesn't seem to learn how to make a proper advertisement. | 2012-11-05 03:47:00 Author: yugnar Posts: 1478 |
Wait.... LBPKarting is released this week? | 2012-11-05 04:20:00 Author: DominationMags Posts: 1840 |
I suppose there could be a couple more ads posted around the interwebs, yes, but that ain't news or media. Moved to [LBPK] Everything Else LittleBigPlanet Karting. | 2012-11-05 05:01:00 Author: Taffey Posts: 3187 |
Yea I'm ****** that they didn't advertise in the US but in the UK everyone knows about it I was on youtube and a guy ask me what's a LittleBigPlanet karting I was like what how do u not know what it is so I explain to him we need LBPK to go viral the more community the more great ideas | 2012-11-05 06:41:00 Author: Unknown User |
Wow, on the PS Blog the comments are filled with how they're surprised LBP Karting is coming out this week. I do think it could've been advertised a little more heavily. | 2012-11-05 06:46:00 Author: The5rozos Posts: 952 |
Yeah i didn't know where to post it thanks for moving it. Also ads have been in movies before. Years ago I saw Red Dead Redemption advertised before "The Expendables" | 2012-11-05 13:27:00 Author: Nick930930 Posts: 878 |
Actually i saw a LPBK commercial last night on FOX's Animation Domination. Unfortuantly that was it. Might look on youtube for it. UPDATE I looked and found nothing, its new and not the same as the EU ones if i could describe it it would be a animated sackboy doll on a kart getting coached ala Rocky with another guy having a helmet with a tube powering his imagination to the kart And I did see several ads on Gamefaqs throught the past 2 months but its odd they did it a lot then and none now. They are doing some, but they really should've saved it for now (maybe they are saving it for after the game is out?) | 2012-11-05 15:58:00 Author: JKthree Posts: 1125 |
There are definitely ads playing on televison for it, though I don't think that Sony has a "head IP", so I wouldn't expect a Halo-sized marketing campaign for this game. They also might be waiting until later in the month to start running ads for Christmas. | 2012-11-05 21:33:00 Author: Chazprime Posts: 587 |

That ad above is the competition winner video. Also, I just got Karting pre ordered for tomorrow. I'm not too hyped about this game, honestly. The promotion for it has been pretty bad. | 2012-11-05 22:05:00 Author: Tynamite Posts: 150 |
Yeah that commercial was just announced to be a winner. That commercial is not enough to bring home the gold when it comes to sales. I too am only slightly hyped for this game. I'm more excited for the local splitscreen racing aspect than anything else. I Could honestly care less about the create mode. | 2012-11-05 22:44:00 Author: Nick930930 Posts: 878 |
They may think since it is the LBP brand that people will buy it without a second thought like they do with Mario titles. Except Mario games always have commercials anyway. | 2012-11-05 23:03:00 Author: xero Posts: 2419 |
I saw an ad for it the other day on TV. | 2012-11-07 12:45:00 Author: Ali_Star Posts: 4085 |
I saw it too.. it's the same ad that got picked. It's too late though, they should have advertised more BEFORE release. Nobody even knew it came out that's my point. | 2012-11-07 20:39:00 Author: Nick930930 Posts: 878 |

I was also was watching Skyfall when there was the advert for Halo 4! But I still haven't seen any adverts for LBP Karting. | 2012-11-08 07:45:00 Author: themaxus Posts: 90 |
I was also was watching Skyfall when there was the advert for Halo 4! But I still haven't seen any adverts for LBP Karting. Because Microsoft has payed out the butt to advertise the crap out of Halo since it's their last "Good" game on their console. Sony however feels it more necessary to promote their stupid Playstation Allstars Game. I call it stupid because it fails to have the REAL allstars so I refuse to play it until they explain why. | 2012-11-08 18:39:00 Author: Nick930930 Posts: 878 |
...since it's their last "Good" game on their console. That is a matter of opinion, and a hugely biased one at that. I'm guessing you either don't own an Xbox, or don't really know much about many of the games. All of the consoles (yes, even Wii) have a handful of great titles, Xbox included. Hopefully LBPK will be one such game to add to PS3's collection of "good" games. | 2012-11-08 19:08:00 Author: xero Posts: 2419 |
He think he ment It's the last big release the xbox 360 has, you know before the next xbox console releases. I have to agree with the advertising, yesterday I saw the first video game tv advert I've ever seen, for halo 4 during a derren brown episode. scince BETA ended, I've not heard a peep from lbpk, yet on the other hand I haven't been looking (though when it comes to ADVERTISING I really shouldn't have to look to find it) Just look at what happened to Starhawk! sony never advertised and now the developers been hit by layoffs and the community is practically dead in the water after less then a year. don't think for a moment that because it's an lbp game it'll automatically be successful either, Back in it's day Warhawk was THE game on ps3. I'll be sure to get the game when it reduces in price and the communtiy starts releasing good tracks, but ?40 is a bit much for me to be spending on just 1 video game... | 2012-11-10 20:02:00 Author: Smudge228 Posts: 533 |

Is that sarcasm? No really, I'm not sure if those chart positions are good or bad. I definitely wouldn't expect LBPK to pass games like AC3 and RE6. | 2012-11-12 20:59:00 Author: The5rozos Posts: 952 |
Is that sarcasm? No really, I'm not sure if those chart positions are good or bad. I definitely wouldn't expect LBPK to pass games like AC3 and RE6. It is a rather poor start. First week sales normally the highest for a new release as they are your pre order people and people picking it up over the weekend then despite the second week having more days with the game available to buy games usually sell fewer units and the downward trend continues until a price drop gives the title a boost. I doubt LBPK would have been able to pass AC3 this soon after release but it should have been able to debut ahead of something like Resi 6 thats been out for about a month and a half. Given the crowded nature of this time of year I would have expected a good start for LBPK to be to the lower end of top 10 maybe top 15. | 2012-11-12 23:04:00 Author: Rabid-Coot Posts: 6728 |
Player counts seem really REALLY low at the moment. Even if sales weren't massive in the first days of release you think enough people would have bought it to give a decent population online, but that just doesn't seem to be the case. I guess Sony (and anybody who puts time into making levels etc) must be hoping pretty hard it does well over Christmas. I for one greatly enjoy the game, as I have all LBP games, but its a hard sell for a community based game that has no community as of right now. You're completely right about the poor effort with regards advertising. LBP is a PS3 exclusive and as such should be marketed as a major selling point of the console. | 2012-11-12 23:38:00 Author: Unknown User |
When I pre-ordered the game, the dude in the shop thought the game was released in December. Then, when I finally got it, he also told me I was the only one who had made a pre-order (this was in Gamerush), therefore they had decided not to ask for any copy of the game, so yeah, there were 0 copies available in there. Oh my. | 2012-11-14 21:50:00 Author: yugnar Posts: 1478 |
Well, this is rather saddening to see. I do hope that sales pick up for this game, I really do! ****, I even advertized on my tumblr page. http://darkwoodscirkuz.tumblr.com/post/35748273302/all-you-ps3-owners-with-nothing-to-loose-and-willing-to But I highly doubt that anyone will look at it, though. I tried. :< | 2012-11-15 02:44:00 Author: CirkuzFr3ek Posts: 194 |
Player counts seem really REALLY low at the moment. Tell me about it. Almost all VS Story levels consistently have 0 online players so it's hard to even find a match. There will definitely be a little boom in the community during xmas though. I'm sure a handful of parents will buy this game for their kids which will help... even if they'll be, well, little kids. At least All-Stars is on track. It's sitting at 50 on Amazon's top 100 games, while LBPK barely got to 80. | 2012-11-16 08:36:00 Author: The5rozos Posts: 952 |
