Logic help; repeating random sequences and such?
Archive: 10 posts
Hello LBP'ers, I come with a problem that I am facing in making a level with logic. I've never been too familiar with logic, so it's like putting my foot into the deep end of the pool for myself. Basically, I'm being a little bit ambitious here... I'm after suggestions on how to accomplish what I'm looking for. With logic, I'm trying to produce randomized sequences--which would stop for the player to repeat the exact same sequence that occured via the touchscreen. And then after this, if correct, the sequence would reproduce itself--albeit with an extra output. So basically it's like this: Phase 1: Touch "Begin" Phase 2: Randomised sequence of 1 out of 4 options (1 beep). Phase 3: The player must repeat the same sequence. Phase 4: The sequence is correct, the 'Begin' button is available to press. OR Phase 4: The sequence is wrong, a sequence is produced; and then the 'Begin' button is available to press--without the additional +1. Phase 5: Randomised sequence of 2 out of 4 options (2 beeps). ... and so on and so-forth, casually increasing by 1 for each time the player succeeds in repeating a sequence. Any help would be hot, and I will be eternally in your debt. Would the egg from the Counter tutorial suffice? Thanks! ![]() | 2012-11-04 00:01:00 Author: DP694377 ![]() Posts: 9 |
When I get a chance, I will create the logic in a level and help you as much as I can. From the sound of it, the logic doesn't seem to hard for me to accomplish. I only have two problems at the moment.. How does the user enter the sequence? How do you want the sequence to be viewed by the user? | 2012-11-04 01:59:00 Author: Ares_26 ![]() Posts: 47 |

I only have two problems at the moment.. How does the user enter the sequence? How do you want the sequence to be viewed by the user? Wondeful! Well, after dilly-dally'ing on my moon for a while with the concept, I ended up settling with the user having to use the Touch-screen on buttons (that sound off when selected). I hooked up a randomiser and such to experiment, so I'm going with the buttons 'lighting up' when they are selected for the sequences. I guess that answers both questions? The more straight-forward way to put it all would be 'The computer says this; you repeat it back to me'. On the most part, the design is already set. It's just the logic side that I have difficulty with. ![]() | 2012-11-04 01:54:00 Author: DP694377 ![]() Posts: 9 |
Touch-screen on buttons I don't quite understand what the means, I am going to use X, O, /_ and square. I'm going with the buttons 'lighting up' when they are selected for the sequences. I also used that same idea when I first started this! I almost have the logic finished.. My only problem with the logic is saving the pattern, and I have almost figured that out. | 2012-11-04 02:21:00 Author: Ares_26 ![]() Posts: 47 |
I don't quite understand what the means, I am going to use X, O, /_ and square. Oh dear, perhaps I should have been more clear! Haha, I should have probably have said 'Touch-Screen material in the shape of buttons'. Much more clear now! ![]() I almost have the logic finished.. My only problem with the logic is saving the pattern, and I have almost figured that out. Y'know, it just baffles me at how people can be so 'logic-familiar'. Blows my mind! And here was me, somehow thinking of using Counters. Oh me and my dry logic pool. ![]() | 2012-11-04 12:21:00 Author: DP694377 ![]() Posts: 9 |
Touch-Screen material in the shape of buttons Ahhh ![]() I almost have the logic finished.. My only problem with the logic is saving the pattern, and I have almost figured that out. Last night, I hadn't had much sleep, I almost had the logic finished.. I woke up today, and noticed that the logic was almost like you want. I then noticed that the logic I made wasn't going to work like you want. I started completely over, and was only a few timers away from finishing it, then, my PS3 locked up.. ... . I will restart, but i've had working on the New project for 3 hours.. I've created it once, and I will do it again faster(I remember what I did) than when I started this morning. BTW, last night, I did solve saving the pattern! | 2012-11-04 20:32:00 Author: Ares_26 ![]() Posts: 47 |

Trial and error in its finest. ![]() But I don't mind being on hold for you to delve into your new project. As you said, you remember what you did, so I guess it'll be no problem. ![]() | 2012-11-04 20:49:00 Author: DP694377 ![]() Posts: 9 |
I have, for the most part, finished the level. I don't have the time right now to add the error detection for the level. Error detection is when the user misses a note on the pattern. If I get more time, I will play with the level and hopefully finish it soon. The next time your online, I will help you make the level on vita, then you may try figuring out the error detection. I hope this isn't a problem, and like I said earlier, I will use my free time to try to fix error detection. | 2012-11-08 04:24:00 Author: Ares_26 ![]() Posts: 47 |
You might already know this, but comphermc has made a splendid guide (part 1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=nCryeXkKpDQ) and part 2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yr63uFrRNS8&feature=relmfu)) on this exact topic. In the video, it looks more simple than what I was trying to create. | 2012-11-08 19:04:00 Author: Ares_26 ![]() Posts: 47 |
