Everything is falling apart.

Archive: 10 posts

I was just adding some stuff to my London level to fix it a bit.
When I published it, I got a comment about everything falling apart. I tried to fix it but nothing helped. I was glad I had a copy of the same level that I haven't touched in weeks, so I uploaded that. But that level fell apart too, so I decided to lock it down until I find a solution. And now I'm scared of playing my other levels.
Anyone got a clue?

you could prob be a little more descriptive but im guessing you glue EVERYTHING together..? I've heard there is only so much you can glue together as one object; I really wish they would just make it so you cant glue anymore but instead they made it so everything will come apart or it just starts unglueing other things. Or if you detach one object I was having a nightmare when I first started where it would unglue everything from me just trying to remove one thing.

but it sounds like you might have too much glued. if thats the case avoid this by making things in individual peices and use datter matter to hold them up and avoid gluing when possible, bolts help too

Sorry, so frustrated here yes, I've glued most of my level together, but it works trough the whole level until you get to heathrow, then everything is in one big pile. I'l just have to "have fun" tomorrow then with trying to fix this.
Hopefully I can fix this.

This would happen to me a lot, too. I just unglue one small thing, and it unglues everything. Like Hamsalad said, use dark matter to hold stuff up sometimes.2009-01-15 01:25:00

Every since this bug started happening to me, I've tried to avoid gluing as much as I can. When I have to glue things in different planes, I use a Bolt at full tightness in an area that can't be seen instead.2009-01-15 01:28:00

Glue alot of things together and at some point it will get buggy.
It's like the game doesn't know wich part is glued to wich part anymore. Sometimes you unglue the part that is taken into account like "the one that everything is glued on" and then the whole thing crumbles...

Glueing works just fine, but don't glue your entire level into one big object. I build my level from several blocks, each containing a room or two. I glue what I want within the blocks and after I've finished it all I shove the blocks together. Each block is held up by a few blobs of dark matter somewhere out of sight.

Bolts kinda wreak havoc on your thermometer and arent as sturdy as glue.

This happened to my Color of Sound level when i first publish it. The whole level was falling as soon as you reach the top of the Stratocaster...
I was completely afraid...

The question that arise is: Is the levels falls appart at the START of the level or at a particular place in it?
In the first case, you need to fix all the level piece of shape by piece of shape in pause mode....and it could be unfortunately very long.
In the second case, observe if there is not a sensor of presence or a mechanism in this area. Delete it. There is 95% chances to eliminate the problem.

Nevertheless, Good Luck!

Another thing I found was placing score bubbles to early in the creation process. Often you'll find them glued in place after working on your level for a bit and can be a pain to remove. Once this happened to me when making my farm level at the top of the cow barn and when I let my mate play test it, he got to the top of the barn and collected those score bubbles and the whole thing fell apart. It was pretty funny and he said I should keep it like that
Anyway the moral of the story is place score bubbles at the end, or on a section you know is completed and you wont have to touch with glue ever ever again.
