Audio lag?

Archive: 12 posts

I've had LBPV for a while now and I've noticed that the audio in-game occasionally takes a few seconds to actually update. Like when I open my popit, sometimes it takes 5 seconds to actually play the sound it's supposed to play.

Is there any way to fix this? It's a bit annoying sometimes.

Yeah, it is annoying.

Especially when you are doing a cut scene and music won't queue and sound effects are a couple seconds behind.

Makes the level look unpolished, and it's not the creators fault.

Happens to me in Story mode too! The sound of the character talking is a second late! It is something like this.
"We have to get out of here!"
1 sec later
(Speech bubble sound followed by blibber blabber.)

The other day my audio was delayed something like 20 or 30 seconds. It was absurd.

As far as I understand, it's related to the "infinite saving" issue and they're working on a patch for it right now.

The only thing that helps it as of now is dephysicalizing everything you don't need. It does reduce a ton of the lag.2012-10-31 02:46:00

I actually found a relatively simple solution to combat audio lag for those creating levels....
Once the level is done, create and invisible block close to the spawn point and paste a copy of ALL the sound bites in your level there (on mute) and attach a player sensor to them. Once the player enters- they will trigger the sensor and the system will load all your (muted) sound bites so the player won't experience audio lag when coming across the original triggers. 42693
This also works for destroyers.... but you can't really mute those...
It's worked for me- so let me know.

Does that increase the thermo? It should work but I would be afraid of it getting too hot.

It didn't even nudge mine. But I'm not using custom audio/music.2012-11-01 00:53:00

Neat idea. I might have to give that a try on my next level! It certainly was annoying while trying to synchronize the music in my drumming level.2012-11-01 02:24:00

So I take it this bug still around?

I have a tag that I use to start everything on my level in progress and for the longest time the music worked perfectly or be off a few seconds on starting. Now that the thermo is over 1/3, it either starts anywhere from 10 - 50 seconds late like Taffey has commented.

I might try the above workaround, but I wouldn't think that would be necessary for stock music boxes.

No...not for music boxes.
I only experience music box lag when I exit create mode and enter play mode. You have to wait until it's done saving or else you're going to experience severe audio lag. After the saving symbol leaves- I pause it and select replay.

Maybe I am confused or misunderstanding..

This is upon jumping down to start a survival level. I have an instructional part along with a view to the scoreboard. ..you can skip all that and just pull the lever which drops you down and thus triggers everything to start, along with the music. The music sometimes didn't start for quite awhile sometimes earlier... very intermittent with the thermo up a bit. After doing the technique above, it seems to have stabilized finally.

Update!! When talking with Taffey, I think my issue was because of playing off my moon. I don't recall this being an issue on the published beta version. oops.
