What games should I get?!
I have a choice, and I need your help!

My mum came into my room the other day and said "So what games would you want that are out now??"
I know how my mum operates. She's planning for Chirstmas. She does this every year. So this is my chance, my moment to 'choose' what games I could possibly get for Christmas.

I have no idea.

So after unsuccessfully searching IGN for games, I have came to you folks. Some of you ought to know what games are a must-have and which are just rubbish! Does anyone have any ideas on what games I could suggest to my mum?? Thanks in advance!

A PSN Card is a very sensible decision seeing as a lot of awesome content is becoming available on the PSN Store!
I've heard a lot about Tokyo Jungle, is it as good as they say it is? I heard it's pretty good, but I'm unsure.
Okami HD?! When was that released?! I had now idea it was out! I loved that little game!
Thanks man!

Tokyo Jungle is the most fun I've had with a game in a long time.

Okami HD is due out on this weeks store update.

If you still don't have Journey, get it. I'm usually picky with the games I get, doing some research with most. But with Journey, I watched one review, saw a few pics, and got it a few days later. It's best to just to go in without too much knowledge of the game. It might be short, but it's an absolute masterpiece, and I guarentee you'll want to play it over and over again.

If you have a Wii, I'd get Donkey Kong Country Returns. It's a fantastic platformer that I'm only 3 worlds in, but loving so far. It can be very difficult, but in a good way. The level designs only get better and better, the graphics look nice on the Wii, and the bosses can be really hilarious. Besides DKCR, there's Super Mario Galaxy, a beautiful 3D platformer with a huge variety of levels to play through, a clever assortment of gameplay elements worked in and a fantastic soundtrack to top it all off. Both games controlled well for me, although because of my long, dainty fingers, I had to take short breaks from holding the Wiimote horizontally with both hands in DKCR and from holding the miniscule-sized nunchuk in Super Mario Galaxy.

There's also the Sly Collection for the PS3. If you haven't played the Sly games yet, I'd suggest buying this. It's a pretty cell-shaded 3D platformer trilogy from the Ps2 era. Sly 1 is the most linear, going from level-to-level, while Sly 2 takes you from city-to-city, taking on different missions around each new city. Sly 3 is like a combination of those two. Overall, the games are pretty easy, with Sly 1 being the hardest. Sly 2 would have to be my favorite in the end, and the characters and dialogue are brilliant. Sly's suave personality and Bentley's nerdy info. are just perfect.

Very good point! Having them all together would be so awesome!

Ico and SOTC have their own HD Collection for the PS3, which came out last year.

I know a way to get a bunch of games from one purchase! If you don't have the games on the PS plus instant games collection and have the internet connection and Hard drive space, I recommended getting a 1 year sub to PS plus (You could use Christmas to renew every year ).2012-10-30 08:00:00

PSN card
fat princess
starhawk multiplayer (maybe)

Ratchet and clank full frontal assult/ q-force (its ratchet + MOBA + Tower defense)

Valkyria chronicles (you'll either absolutley love it, or you'll find it boring. it's worth looking into yourself, because if you do like it, it's frickin' brilliant)

If you choose to get a PSN Card. I'd highly recommend Shatter. It's in my opinion (and in many others) the best brick-breaking game ever made. And the soundtrack is AMAZING! It's also quite cheap ($7.99)

There seems to be a big emphasis on games on the PSN Store, I've never really considered the games on there, so thank you guys for your suggestions! I'll definitely have a look into them, and if you have any more just let me know! Cheers!2012-11-01 19:06:00

Alright, some obscure, old school Playstation suggestions that need more love that I can recommend. One PS1 game on PSN is Alundra; at first, it seems like a generic Legend of Zelda clone and I won't deny that, but it is also has a storyline that is more mature then nearly any Zelda title, as well as quickly becoming far, far darker in content then any Zelda game has dared to be (it's almost like comparing Hogan's Heroes to Schindler's List). That said, it does play very much like an old-school, pre-3D Zelda title while having a heavy emphasis on puzzles and problem-solving and the music is great.

If you're willing to pull off a few tricks to get a Japanese PSN account and Yen card (don't worry, nothing really illegal), another PSN game I can recommend is Einhander, which to date has only been available on the JP PSN. This is a side-strolling shoot 'em up made back in the pre-SquareEnix days during Squaresoft's creative heyday. Back then, Squaresoft was mostly known for making RPGs and Einhander was unlike anything they had tried up till then or ever since and it turned out to be awesome. It's not a very long game but it is very challenging and exciting as you single-handedly (ha...) tear through legions of mechanized foes and mammoth bosses with it all scored by an incredible soundtrack.

And if your looking for a non-PSN game, one game I can highly recommend is Dark Souls for the PS3, XBox 360, and PC and it is easily the best game I've played since its release last year and might very well be my favorite PS3 game. While it has an infamous reputation as being insanely hard, it is an incredibly unique and atmospheric experience with highly complex and diverse gameplay. And while the challenge level and steep learning curve can be intimidating to new players, I personally find the game not so much hard insomuch as it is very unforgiving (although to be fair, this is coming from someone who also played DS's spiritual predecessor Demon's Souls enough to get the platinum). This is a game that 98% of the time does not reward recklessness, impatience, and general stupidity but at the same time is such a unique and rewarding experience because you benefit from approaching it in a very observant, meticulous, and deliberate fashion which makes it stand out in the current culture of gaming. The number of ways you can develop your character give it great replay value, online multiplayer is also unique as it provides ways to provide hints, directly assist, dual against, or just flat out torment other players, and the soundtrack is great (noticing a trend with what I recommend?).

Games I've liked on the PS3 so far:

Atelier Meruru

RPG with strong emphasis on item synthesis and time management
Bad Company 2

Fun multiplayer that doesn't take itself too seriously
Demon's Souls/Dark Souls

Great atmospheric action RPGs
Disgaea 4

Addicting strategy RPG
Gal Gun

Rail shooter/visual novel, despite being short there's lots to unlock
Hitogata Happa

Danmaku game
Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2

You might want to play the first one before this, but it's not too important
Red Dead Redemption

I liked just riding around shooting stuff and exploring
Star Ocean 4

Good battle system, lots of content
Valkyria Chronicles

Another game i advise is the Skylanders series. Those games are just so much fun, and collecting the little figures is addictive!2012-11-05 23:35:00
