Failed to Load Level.

Archive: 9 posts

I just published a level and it was brought to my attention that it won't load for some people. It works fine for me and I actually created another account to see if I could load it that way and it loaded no problem. I just want to see if anyone else has problems loading my level. You don't even have to play it if you don't want to, I just want to see if there is a problem. If there is, suggestions on how to fix it would be cool too. The name of the level is ROBO-RAMPAGE X 2 by Dimo1138.
Thanks.

its just server lag ...

Did you try it, or just making an educated guess? I only ask because I've read of a guy who had a level that no-one could play unless he invited them. I don't want that to happen to me.

Its just something I notice ...

Everytime I get a lag spike. Any level I choose from the community shows ... Level wont load / failed to load.

Hmmm, so I guess I have to wait it out. Thanks for the help. Even still, if someone else could give it a shot, I would feel a whole lot better about it if some one could confirm that it loaded for them.

As far as my experience with the game and in the community goes I can tell you that there's mainly 3 causes for this and most of time of combination of 2 or more:

- Profile size problems
- Connection/Server problems
- Level size problems

The profiles in LBP are quite badly debugged. When you have a certain numbers of objects / photos / community photos / community objects saved they get unstable. It causes many things. It leads to save bugs, problems connecting to other players and also problem loading anything else in the ram like levels.

About connection, LBP is a P2P game. You connect directly in a instance with the server or another player and the quality of the data transfert will then be directly related to you connection quality. You will more with pseudo broadband connections (like there are tons out there) and anything DSL. You can also easily suffer from your wireless network at home and your routers that might not be at some optimal configuration and such things. (and wireless is slower than wired in general anyways). Basically, LBP lag free is pretty **** near impossible.

Lastly, the level sizes. It really seem this game doesn't like "profiles" of any kinds. Anything that fills memory near the max becomes unstable. When there are level that are really near a full thermometer or full thermometer, most people are having a hard time downloading them (because the whole level is downloaded in order to be played even if it never appear on your moon unless you use the "copy" function).

Now just imagine a guy with an low profile broadband connection trying to load some memory demanding level with his profile cluttered with crap...

So is there anyway to fix this? Has anyone here tried to load the level? It would be nice if someone could try.2009-01-14 21:14:00

The best bet you can make is to have you profile clean, the smallest possible. You might want to check if your network or router setup is optimal.

To help the profile size, clean all the community pics and objects. Keep yours the lowest possible. Don't leave 30 levels on your moon, publish some instead.

Always make a back up of your save file from time to time.

Yeah, I always keep my community objects/photos to the bare essentials (which at this point is next to nothing). Although, I just tried something and was told that it works now but I would like if maybe someone else could try to load it and let me know if it really is fixed.2009-01-14 23:11:00
