Snowing! -General Discussion

Archive: 24 posts

I just looked out of the window. It's snowing! Time to put Christmas-music CDs in the radio and play some jingle bells!

What do you people think about snow? Do you like it? Does it snow in where you live and if it does, when does it snow? Is it snowing right now?

Now if you excuse me, I'll got out so make some snow-angels.

SNOW!!!

No!
It's not even November yet!

Not snowing here yet, luckily. Weather man has been telling us it was gonna get very cold by the end of this week.. but it's not that cold. Chilly, but not cold enough to get the scarf and gloves out of summer hibernation.

Hopefully it's not snowing here for another few months. I hate changing over to my snow tires until it really starts getting bad!2012-10-26 13:54:00

I like summer better than winter, but I can't help to smile at the snow. It snowed lightly twice yesterday, but it was only 40 degrees Farenheit (someone convert that, please ), so it melted once it hit the ground. Odd, considering that where I live (good old Minnesota), it normally snows by mid-October. These past two years were unusually warm for Minnesota, not making piles of snow until mid-November.2012-10-26 14:36:00

Waking up at 6AM. It's really dark outside. It's kinda cold so I might as well use my sweater under the jacket. Time to eat some breakfast. I get outside to line up with everyone else. There's snow on the ground. It's bloody cold and I'm freezing already. I was not really prepared for this.

Usually I don't really mind winter, I can spend my time inside in the warm with good conscience. Not this winter though. This winter is different. Because I am serving my national service, it means spending time outside. A lot of time outside. Outside guarding some trees that no one cares about. Outside running in the forest. Outside swimming in the ocean. Winter sucks. I hate the cold. At least I won't get too wet when it actually stays cold below the freezing point...

I like cold weather. It's fresh, and not as miserable as hot weather. However, I don't like snow, because it makes driving difficult.

And jwwPhotos, it snowed in Southern California before, but rarely.

Well, here at my place, snowing is very rare. I mean, it only snowed one time, and it was a long time ago.

Homewer there's a place in Portugal that snows almost all the year, and its Serra da Estrela! The bad is that is like 150+km from where I live .

But I would like to snow here, and snow a lot!

Same here, although I must say your people are funny: visited there over the summer and they thought 70-80?F at night was cold while that's considered pretty fresh, if not a tad hot here. Still, we hadn't had snow here for decades (a century maybe?), so I guess we're used to it.

It does way up north sometimes.. doesn't it?Nah, you have to go towards the eastern border of CA (towards the Sierras) in order to find snow. I can drive to where there is snow in maybe 4 hours or so, but it never snows where I am. Maybe once a year there will be hail but it doesn't even collect on the ground.

Us Californians are wimps.

Weird... I saw snow for the first time as a kid when we were living there. I know we traveled quite a ways from San Francisco to see it. Maybe we did head east to the Sierras. I was all of 3 or 4 so I really don't know!! lol

Meanwhile, in the southern hemisphere blah blah blah...

You mean that place I mindlessly occupy with a bunch of useless penguins?

It doesn't snow here. That makes me sad, as I have played around with it.

That takes you straight through Donner Pass (of Donner Party fame).

(Out of all the Californians, San Diegans are the worst when it comes to weather OTHER than sunshine )This is a true statement.

Theres some ruddy noisy hail banging on my window. That's very inconsiderate of it. Why doesn't it use the door?

What do I think of snow? I'd imagine it be an economic drain, eg, slowing traffic, creating accidents, blocking people from work.

Good thing it never snows here
