2 player cameras
Archive: 2 posts
Hi guys, My questions are in relation to making a 2 player game. I want to make a game with a big map and i want each player to be able to scroll the camera freely up, down, left and right. Is it possible to give each player control over their own camera and have them move it freely in reaction to touch commands from the rear or front touch pads? And if so. Is it possible to set limits as to how far they can scroll their view so as to hide any behind the scenes areas that contain logic or other such things? I also want to create some kind of HUD for my game. Does anyone know of any tutorials that show how to create a HUD that can display up to date information such as numbers that change as things update in the game? And also.. Is it possible to display information on a HUD to one player, but hide it from another player? Like if i want a player to always see a numbered value for hit points. But i don't want the other player to see that information that the first one can see. Can somebody tell me if this is possible? I know i was asking a lot in one thread but if anyone can help out with those questions i'd really appreciate it. Thanks heaps everyone. | 2012-10-24 00:11:00 Author: Unknown User |
There is an option to allow each player their own camera, I believe it is in the global controls. Moving the camera with the touchpad would require you to move the physical camera in the direction the player, swipes, very possible. If you want to limit their view, just make sure that whatever is holding the camera can only go so far. I don't know why there would be logic there to see, but I can definitely see the uses. Hmm... HUD tutorials. Well, I'm not going to go searching because I'm lazy, but what you are talking about is just displaying an analog signal. To do that you'll need to do is have some signal you want to display (such as the health for example). You'll simply feed that into a note that is set to display number and then set the maximum number to whatever you want. You can do the same with anything (currency, mana, etc). A good tutorial on analog logic like that is right on this site in the tutorials section. I think it's called health meter toolkit or something of the sort. As far as the HUD goes, I don't think you'll have much luck hiding it from the other players. That would be a neat option, but there's no materials that are invisible to one player while not invisible to another. That would be cool, but it's just something you'll have to work around. | 2012-10-24 04:24:00 Author: ChrisF2112 Posts: 265 |
