My best level has been moderated, now what?

Archive: 17 posts

So it's that time of year again here in Idaho. The snow is falling, the nights are long and cold, my summer job is over, the golf course is closed... time to play LBP2 again! So I go online yesterday to work on 3 levels that I began last Winter, and I notice that my own favorite level Pointless Platforms 2 is gone. So I go to my moon to have a look and it says "something in this level has been moderated, and you can't publish it until this has been addressed".

Of course there is nothing in this, or any of my levels, that is in anyway offensive. How can I change it if I don't know what they are talking about? Do I lose the level completely? This level had about 100,000 plays, 15,000 hearts, a 5 star rating and was on page 1 or 2 of the highest rated since early 2009. I know it's silly, but I would be very sad to lose all these stats.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, JakePutz.

What!? I've played that level and can't recall anything remotely offensive. It's absurd that levels are moderated without explanation and as I recall this has happened to other creators before.
It's not silly to feel sad. I'd be crying right now.
Maybe try to contact StevenI, if he can't help then at least he should be able to point you in the right direction for an explanation.

I had this happen in LBP1.
I had to try and guess what the issue was.
Delete things and try and republish. I finally found out what it was. My level had an item in it that I had gotten from another level ( a cartoon character).
I deleted it and the republish went through with all my stats in place.

This did also happen to me! My level was at the top of the cool pages and then it got deleted for NO reason... That's just sad.... 2012-10-23 18:07:00

This happened to me, then I contacted Sony and asked them to explain. They responded with a precise description of the problem and it turned out that my level had been moderated for a valid reason.

You should really e-mail Sony and ask them.

Wow, thanks for the quick responses, glad to see LBPCentral is alive and well!
Ungreth, first of all, big fan! Secondly, do you remember the email address for contacting Sony on such an occasion?

community@uk.playstation.com

Sorry to hear that and an email is the best approach I have seen. This is what Ungreth used. Hope it will work even though you are from NA. ...or maybe they can share with you an NA equilvent.

that's a bummer indeed. I have a "moderated" level on my moon. It was never published and is just a holding level for some of my junk. I have some Band stickers in there and am assuming that is why I got the "this level has been moderated" notice. Though, if it was never published, why in the heck are they poking around on MY MOON!? Anyway, don't worry too much. Jerry The_Hog_Flu had the Hillbilly Hijinx levels deleted from his planet due to "moderation" and he contacted them and they were restored with the play count, hearts and likes intact. Send the email.2012-10-23 22:00:00

Might be a different email for U.S. - if I'm reading Idaho correctly
Good to know Sony was responsive, and that there's a good chance of fully restoring the level. I hope it ends well.
Seems that all moderation should include an explanation, it's only fair and respectful.

Sorry to hear this Jake!

You are one of my favorite creators, and I have played pointless platforms many times.

All of your levels are clean cut fun.

Hope you get this sorted.

This problem exists for months, most often for senseless reason, such as sticker. MrMik68 had the same problem on 3 levels and all three times he found an invisible sticker on the (invisible) music sequencer is the reason. He wrote polite message to StevenI (i think on his lbp profile) and Steven returned 2 levels with all statistics, for the third it was all lost.
I recommend you to investigate "reason" on your own, using deleting method. I'm pretty sure that you have to start from custom stickers. When moderated message disappears you'll know you've found it, and then contact Steven.

Never mind! It has been restored after just a small amount of sniveling on my part. StevenI swooped in and saved the day, he said it was just a mistake that it was moderated. I now realize it had been missing for three months!
Thanks so much to StevenI, I am so impressed that he was so quick to fix my little problem. This game is still the BEST EVER!!!

Now that is extremely weird. In fact if you think about it, it's logistically impossible for Sony to know what content you have on your moon since the data is stored locally (ie: only on your PS3 and not on a server). It should be inaccessible to anybody except you. I can only guess that it must be some kind of bug related to automated moderation of content, similar to how some people had messages telling them that their pod had been moderated even though they were using the default, undecorated version of the pod.

On a side note, Matt, aren't you tired of winking at everything you know?
Lots of people knows but keep silent or avoids to wink

This happened to me. well the stats are gone for good but what you have to do is go through the level bit by bit and find where the source of the moderation is. with me it was a just black watching bomb which I guess kind of looked like a human but it didn't really. anyway just remove and replace the moderated object then upload it again

EDIT:

I think it is just in the numbers if something to do with number like the binary code will be the same for something that is online as it would offline. that code is what would be banned.
