"Adult" Forum.

Archive: 14 posts

Why don't we have a forum category where people who are over 18 can discuss stuff that we wouldn't be able to in the General Chat?

Password protect it, so it will block out any possibly 'offensive' titles from younger members, and if anyone under 18 does use the password to get in, then give them an infraction or something for doing so.
It'd be good to give the older members somewhere to talk about things that would usually be perceived as risque anywhere. It would give us a lot more freedom.
It can be used for the mature members to discuss any problems they may have, or questions, without having some twelve year old jumping in and crying to mummy because they saw the word "sex".

It could also save the moderators from giving out stupid infractions. Over something that is acceptable to most, but said twelve year old is now traumatized for life (mum sure seems to think so), has to shipped off to Christian school so his soul can be brought back from the depths of hell, and punishment must be swiftly dealt! Or something not so extreme.

Put it in General Stuff, put a password on it, leave the password in the forum description, and let the older members tell us tales of their drunken nights in Vegas, or ask us about relationship problems, or whatever.

I don't think you can set access to a forum based on what year of birth you entered. I could be wrong, but I didn't think it was possible.

Yeah because nobody ever lies about their age on the internet.

Those who have stated their age, we can deal with. Those we don't, well if they come in and see something they don't like, it's their fault for breaking the over 18 rule.

My maturity is over 9000...Does that mean I can enter too?

On a slightly more serious note, not bad of an idea, although it might make people somewhat jealous >_> <_<

Don't look at me >_>

No.
Younger people can change their age here + an infraction for just entering it?
lame.
There are alot of mature forums out there, where you can always go
This should stay a forum like it is now...not for babies...and not for 18+ areas...

Would you like to propose another idea to deteer younger members from entering it?

Yes, they are other forums. Sadly those forums don't have the people within this forum on them. People who I like and can trust with what I wish to say.
And sorry, but this forum is pretty much for babies. When pretty much any age can join it, you have to block out everything that may offend someone as young as 10.

I predicted that the younger members would have an issue with it, and let's face it, it's only because they wouldn't be able to post in it.

I'd find a way to get in actually.
And like 10% of this forum's members are over 18.
And why would you think I would cry because you guys would being in debate about "sex"?
I'm mature enough to talk about it, djeez >_>

Unfortuanatly, while it is an alright concept, i don't think it would execute well at all. Too many young members would find their way in. A good way to do it would be to have it age restricted from what your profile says, but the younger members would just change that too. In the end, i don't think it's needed on a LBP forum.

Personally, I have a few other forums I like to go to to talk about things deemed inappropriate here (i.e. about sex. no not pron). Mostly music forums with a general area like ours. We can swear and talk about anything there, as long as it's legal. IGN isn't tooooo bad either, and it's easy to get away with swearing there.

However I enjoy this forum much more due to its friendly nature. While it is by far the strictest forum I use, hence me sometimes not liking more rules/talk about rules, it functions brilliantly as it is.

First off, really Valo. I just turned 14, meaning that I was 13 not too long ago. That is 1 year above 12. DONT make fun of younger people. Got that? Older people like you can be just as childish and as the younger people are. Also, do I seem childish to you? I seem to be taken seriously with just about every other member. Age is nothing, maturity is.

Thats out of my system :3.

Second, not a bad idea for a forum, but I dont really think it's for THIS forum. This is a LBP forum where we discuss LBP, general things and other games. Also art and stuff but whatever. Mature content isn't really mainstream on a forum with such a feel good attitude. Sorry Valo, I like the idea but not for this forum.

Ok let me just state the obvious. This is a forum for a game that is E for everyone. Although it caters to adults as much as kids, the game is meant to be enjoyable by all with no restricted areas. Hence this forum will never have a restricted mature area.

I, like you, can't think of any other forums I've ever come across that have such great people and so I don't mind keeping all subjects E rated! I know sometimes you want to talk about something violent in a game or post a trully funny but gory video, but it's no big deal. I personnally have plenty to talk about in this forum without needing another mature section to blab away about sex and rock & roll (XD yea I just said that). Seriously though, given the dynamics of the game, and the quality of members we've succeeded in achieving, this would not be a good idea.

So Valo, alternatives would be to look for mature (in thought and age) forums with cool people, might take some doing, but there must be some out there. Or you can send me a PM with your daily dirty/gory thoughts xD

Pointless as it isn't going to happen as there is absolutely no foolproof way to confirm someone's age.
