If you can guess what the big concept for my level is just from the title, then props to you! EDIT: Should have clarified, I'm not actually making C:SOTN, just using the 'flip the entire level' mechanism. Continue! I've been planning this one since last year, and the idea is that when you reach the end of the level, it flips so you now walk along the roof of the level back to where you originally came from! I've got the system working, although it isn't as big as I'd like the level to be (I can't just keep increasing the size of it it seems, or my physics based invert system doesn't want to work...), but the concept is in full effect on varying scales. I was just wondering if you guys had any ideas of contraptions/obstacles I could implement into this level that would work both upside down and the right way up, but still prove a fresh experience both ways, so the upside isn't just a repeat of the downside. I have a lot of ideas scribbled down, some work, some don't, but any additional ideas or just feedback you have for such a level would be great! | 2009-01-14 00:50:00 Author: Boo! Posts: 33 |
Hmm, nice idea, a bit hard to implement obstacles and such... Stay tuned for my EDIT on this post though, I'll try to think of a few for you. | 2009-01-14 02:33:00 Author: Whalio Cappuccino Posts: 5250 |
I recommend you start building from the center of a blank level. Honestly, I don't think the whole castle would fit in just one crater...it's too huge. It's like trying to recreate all of Zebes. Anyway, it's a very interesting idea. I saw something similar some time ago in our Showcase forum, where a user had this one level made, and it became Inverted after reaching a certain part. | 2009-01-14 03:15:00 Author: aer0blue Posts: 1603 |

My apologies, I should have outlined it better in the OP. It isn't a recreation/tribute to Symphony of the Night, it just uses an invert-world system hence the codename. The level itself is a bit too small as it stands, though. Interested in this other level though, will have a look through the Showcase later when I have time. Remember anything from the title that might assist in searching? | 2009-01-14 03:32:00 Author: Boo! Posts: 33 |
Man, it took me a while to find. I had forgotten the name so I had to look through all the posts I had made... Anyway, this level: https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=6575 | 2009-01-14 03:40:00 Author: aer0blue Posts: 1603 |
Cheers Aero, you're such a helpful person! + rep! I played the level, the level flipping part is really smooth! I wonder how he did it... The level was going along pretty smoothly, I made a level flipping inside the level slipping puzzle, was really cool, but then the next time I turned it on the last two backups I had made were gone and I was set back to just after I got the flipping mechanism working. Ugh. Might put off major work till a patch... :/ | 2009-01-16 05:41:00 Author: Boo! Posts: 33 |
Symphony in the Night? The Castlevania game? Well, good sir, then you have to include the opening Dracula dialouge somewhere. That would really make the level. | 2009-01-16 06:14:00 Author: Astrosimi Posts: 2046 |
Hahaha, I just edited the OP to avoid confusion, sorry Astro! But, that does give me a cool idea, I'll include a Dracula anyway! | 2009-01-16 07:38:00 Author: Boo! Posts: 33 |
Symphony of the Night is my all time favorite game... go for it. | 2009-01-16 21:59:00 Author: Unknown User |
