I had been posting about my progress on this project over at LBN (http://www.littlebignetwork.com), but it makes more sense to share it on the site where the contest is hosted, right? I understand most people probably don't care about the process itself, and only the end result, but it has been enjoyable for me to keep track of. So for anyone interested, here it is. LBPC9 has gotten me out of a creative slump and excited about level building again. I've found the challenge of being required to use the real physics of weight and balance most engaging. While working on it, there have been many ideas that I fully built and then destroyed, either because their physics weren't steady, or they weren't fun to play. In this way, I believe the best ideas have risen from multiple failures. It's forced me to come up with outside-the-box solutions and as a result, more interesting gameplay. This is the organic approach to creating I find most fulfilling. Hehe, there have been several times when I make a mistake and find some way a player could cheat if they try a fancy maneuver. BUT, instead of blocking that path, I redesign the gameplay to make it the only path! This cracks me up, because it makes me feel free. Instead of rigidly imposing a plan, I open my mind to make the plan malleable. Okay, that's enough for today!
