Need some tips to get the Dive In! trophy (and be alive after it)

Archive: 7 posts

Heyo LBPC, Patofan here.

I made a thread some time ago asking for a way to cheat the system (easy trophies anyone?), but looks like it's bug-proof.

So now, I decided I'll start to Dive In! in a legit way. But before doing it, I need some... preparation.

Can someone give me some tips for Diving In! ? I can't use a mic (not being English may have something to do with it) and I have no USB keyboard, so communication would be hard. Are they going to kick me a lot? Are they going to exit as fast as they can to show me their bomb survival?

Did you have any Dive In! experiences that can help me (and anyone that needs it)?

well i never bothered with this trophy (who needs em? =p)

but I'm pretty sure that it used to be so that if you played with 3 friends and then dived in you would still get the dive in play count to go up.

To test that I would need 3 friends with LBP2, thing that I sadly dont have

Maybe we could make some LBPCentral Official Dive In! Farming groups?

Sometimes when you dive in you end up in a level on your own. If you finish the level that still counts as a play towards the trophy. This was how I got most of mine done.

Just as a heads up, most of the people you dive in with won't end up playing a level you, from my experience at least. Most of my dive in time where I joined other people was spent messing around in a pod, which, if you're bored, can sometimes be a laugh, but often is just frustrating.

Good luck.

It's a time sink for sure. I got the trophy (and frequently re-get the pin, with so many profile crashes) by being communicative and flattering to whoever I visited. Even without a keyboard you can quickly type a request to play one of the dived-into person's levels. Most people are very happy to show you what they've created. Being further polite and leaving a positive review will prompt a charming and naive friend request which always makes me feel guilty when I disconnect a few minutes later: "I don't want to be your friend, kid, I'm just a little more polite to strangers than the Internet generation. Sorry! Thanks for the bump in a meaningless statistical pursuit."

(I do not say the above. Obviously.)

(Trophy addict here; I know it's completely stupid and don't dress it up, I am obsessed with getting as many trophies in a game as I can, if I'm going to bother with the game at all.)

There's no consistent way to boost/farm the trophy. If you play during very slow hours where virtually nobody is online you might end up re-diving into the same person's pod over and over and can rack up dives this way. This is the closest to boosting you can get, and depends on myriad factors, not least of which is the kindness of a stranger who won't mind that you disconnect and reconnect constantly while playing levels in quick succession. Here again communication is key.

My advice? Every time you start up LBP2, devote the first 10 minutes to pounding that Dive In button. Half of the dive attempts will time out or be rejected, and the other half will be mostly children loitering and slapping like twits, or players who left their consoles on but aren't playing the game. Still, if you get one successful dive, you're 4% closer to your goal. And 10 minutes is not so terrible. It just feels longer because of that horrible timer.

yes they will. do not let them waste too much of your time. if they are being totally stupid, go back to pod and join the next one.

Exactly, that trophy in particular is an annoying one to get, but don't waste your time with someone who's grinding down your patience. If you do want to remain alive after you get the trophy, you have to be, most of the time, pretty picky about who you play with so you can enjoy your time with the players you meet, and maybe make some friends along the way.
