Forever spinning Earth? What's up here?

Archive: 6 posts

so...been pretty much living in create mode recently, and i've noticed something somewhat disconcerting.

The "hey! Don't turn off the game!" spinning earth is on pretty much all the time for me now. i can't just leave the game running until the darned thing feels like going away, but i do worry quite abit about corrupting my data. i'm had to turn the game off a few times now, on account of needing to go to work and such, and haven't noticed any adverse effects, but still... i worry.

Anyone else had this come up? And if so, how'd you resolve it (if you were able to, that is)?

Saa...thanks for any advice and such, and have a fine day!

I've found if it ever does that and If it does not go away within 5 mins. just shut off the game. it should not corrupt your save file as it is not actually saving, the game seems to just be erroring by that point if it is taking longer then 1 min. *mew2012-11-12 19:25:00

And to also help with your worries, back up your data on your system or flashdrive every once In a while if you don't already. Just to play it safe.2012-11-12 22:31:00

The spinning earth just means that the game is processing data to or from the servers, not that it's saving the game. You are quite safe to exit the game and power down your console without your save data being corrupted. The save game icon looks like an arrow that spins in a circle, so if you see then you should wait until its gone, but the spinning earth is nothing to worry about. It just gets stuck like that sometimes.2012-11-13 03:26:00

*blink!*

i'd completely forgotten i'd asked this, after it sank without a trace. It's good to hear about the difference in icons, so i won't sweat things so much. Getting a back up drive is one of those things on the "not immediately necessary, but boy it would be nice" list. i think i might be able to get something this paycheck, as LBPK won't be out over here until january, and i've already covered my wife's birthday present.

Actually, it just stopped doing it on it's own, the spinning Earth thing, so...i just figured it'd un-kinked itself. i'm afraid to say i've been incredibly lucky w/r/t corruption issues...so...actually, i just won't say that.

Thanks again everyone, and have a good evening!
