Episode 29 - deer god the colers

The hilarious chatchito throws our podcast into complete mayhem, and we wouldn't have it any other way. We talk about LBP Vita, Tearaway, Survivor (with our returning guest, Mr. Radical), soggy cookies, and villains eating cereal.

Hehe no, you're definitely not the only one with problems grabbing the podcast - there are quite a few other people who have issues with the direct download as well. I think the main issue is that the iPhone/iPod is TERRIBLE for streaming content unless it is handled by a third party app like SoundCloud. I have issues all the time trying to stream other podcasts the same way. It seems to help to let it buffer for an extra long time. It could also simply be that my web hosting service is slow today - I'll check it out.

Also, and completely unrelated to anything else, I finally found the link to the Bilar commercial we mentioned in the podcast:

I’m sure that there is no surprise that the intro was very well done. It was fun to hear the alternate into and it was nicely done considering it was mostly extemporaneous. The podcast is really turning into Pocket Moon Talent Show. You could just collect all the creative bits from past podcasts and put together the all-singing, all-dancing PMP showcase extraganza.

MrChatchito was a lot of fun to listen to, he’s full of energy and quite a bit of asides that added humour to an otherwise droll presentation. I wasn’t very familiar with MrChatchito before the podcast but it was a lot of fun to hear how he got into the game and all the stuff he’s worked on over the years.

-----

Hmm, pins? I’ve not been a big pin type guy and normally just put up the ace pin, the 100% collector pin and my I See What You Did There pin. It’d be nice for Vita specific pins just to be able to differentiate people. The hearts you earn are new on the Vita whereas they carried over from LBP1 to LBP2, why shouldn’t the pins all be new as we well?

I do agree that there are pins you earn for social, extra-curricular activities that would make sense to be connected to your PSN profile rather than to a specific game. (e.g. community meetup, awesomesauce, forum specific pins and so on.)

An idea for a custom pin might be a pin for people who have a published level on each LBP platform. Or for people who’ve published one of each type/archetypal level. (e.g. movie level, platforming level, silhouette level, puzzle level et cetera.) Of course the second one would just be a nightmare to manage and would likely just increase the surplus spam level population.

-----

I’d second the lbp.me nomination. The release of this really, really helped the community interface, share and explore with levels in and out of the game. The follow on to this to a much lesser extent could be lists. It is another community requested function that has helped make managing and playing great levels more easy and intuitive.

-----

The Survivor recap was fun to hear how other people saw the timeline and different events. I’m sure that a lot of the listeners aren’t terribly into the game as the three of you were but it could also be something that helps get more players interested in participating in future seasons.

It’ll be fun to hear the rundown from Tyler’s perspective since that side of things was pretty under-represented in the podcast.

-----

The would you rather is a bit less confrontational this time around. Less enduring pain or shameful humiliation and more realistic quandary. I guess this says something about the differences between Tom and John.

I like my cookies soft and chewy but not disintegrating and mushy. So if those cookies were the dry, brittle, crackly kind they’d go straight into the milk for a good thawing out before I’d have at them. If they were already the fresh, soft type then I’d go for the cookie by itself with a good drink of milk to wash it all down with.

-----

I think it was a bit funny that MrChatchito was trying to move the schedule along at points. I’m guessing that this is more an indication of the extra-long recording session than a commentary on the fragmentary, wandering nature of the show. Probably.

I was surprised that Mr Radical didn’t get asked a question I saw up on Twitter before the podcast about what his plans are next. What does he have planned next? Is he relaxing now, in Survivor withdrawal thinking about the next season or have something else he’s setting his sights on. (Maybe this is one of the questions that got cut due to time restraints.

-----

Looking forward to the next podcast and hopefully it isn’t as long a wait as between 28 and 29. It’ll be fun to hear about or see John’s LBPV level when it comes out. And also to see what Tom has in store for a follow-up to the entertaining Space Corps release.

Cheers.

I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed Mr. Chatchito's appearance on the podcast. Having him an Mr. Radical on was a treat!

I like your idea for cross-game activity pins (i.e.: A pin for having a level published on LBP 2 and LBPV). I hadn't thought of that.

I believe that LBP.me is my biggest game changer. The only reason I wasn't diving into that one is that it was already on RocketCheetah's top 5, and it actually came in at #1 I believe. Lists would not be one that I consider a game changer for myself. I am glad that they are there for people who want to use them, but I just haven't made much use of them. Perhaps one day I'll start using them a lot and realize that they are the tool that I have always wanted Or maybe I am just bitter that they broke LBP Hub when I was developing it

I really enjoyed the survivor recap on this episode. I could easily talk about Survivor for an entire episode, especially with Mr. Radical there, but like you said, we can't go too overboard since it is only relevant to a portion of listeners

LOL, I don't know if the would-you-rather really shows a difference between Tom and me. I just came up with it while eating oreos with Mrs. Poo and figured it would make for a good question since we NEED to talk about cookies on the podcast, and we have a history of discussing soggy food as well ;-)

Both Mr. Radical and Mr. Chatchito were pushing the podcast forward at times :-) This was a VERY long one due to the antics that took place, and the fact that we sort of had 2 different Community Creations sections, one being the interview with Chatchito, and the other being the survivor discussion.
