Drummer Unlimited (Rock Band LBP)

Archive: 15 posts

I'm new to the LBP Central Community, but I decided to join because I now am way into LBP Vita and I want to play some great levels and showcase some of my levels. My first level of LBPV is Drummer Unlimited (Rock Band LBP), basically an exact copy of Drumming on a music game. It saves score, has stars, and has three sequenced songs. I'd love if you guys could try it out and give some feedback. Thanks!

go to vita.lbp.me website, find your psn profile, then go to the link with your published level on it and post it here. Players can then easily queue it to their vita to play 2012-10-06 20:21:00

Got it queued now. I'll let you know what I think

EDIT: played it now, i absoloubtly sucked at it, and i'm not sure if thats cause i'm just terrible, or there was some issues with the puttons themselves. It seemed like you had to press the notes as they were half way into the line, rather than actually in it :s but like i said that could just be me.

As for the rest of the level, its very user friendly, has a great layout, and looks like a lot of fun. people who are better than me at this kinda of thing will love it

Yeah, the last two songs are more difficult: definitely designed for people who have some experience with music games. The notes are set to be hit when the center of the note is touching the orange line and you tap the drum. The problem with timing probably comes from the fact that lbpv touch sensors sense tap when you release the drum, so you have to go a little early depending on how quickly you tap.

Thanks for the feedback!

I totally agree with everything frosty says, I struggled with it because I suck with rhythm and it seemed to be at a really random time you needed to tap but otherwise the interface was great and I imagine if you get the timing this is a really cool level. Unfortunately not for me.

I gave it a because it was well made and hopefully I can come back and try again when I'm less frustrated!

Alright, from what I can understand from the feedback I've received is that it's probably too difficult for the LBP Community that does not have experience with music games or the patience to learn a new one. Not that this is an indictment of the Community, it definitely reflects that I played too much Rock Band/Guitar Hero/my own level.
Thanks for the positive feedback and criticism, it's probably time I moved on to my next level.

Final thing, I'm going to make this level copyable, so others can see the logic and how I created the menus and game. Not that anyone here really needs to see it (you guys all seem like pro creators) but perhaps it'll help someone somewhere.

Well, I made it copyable, and someone copied it and it ended up near the top of Cool Pages with several hundred plays. Oh well, such is life.2012-10-08 21:44:00

That's gotta suck :/ I wont make levels copyably for the exact reason of people will just publish the identical level without changing anything...2012-10-08 22:38:00

Wow that sucks! I hope the person at least gives you some credit for being the original creator.

I have to say I found this as tough going as some of the others. I just could not get the timing right - to the extent that it almost felt as if the touch sensors of the VITA were not working somehow. I know it was just me really but at times it seemed as if I was tapping away and nothing was happening, lol.

The menus, layout, tutorial and so on were excellent, though. I'll go back and have another go now I've read the tips in this thread.

I do hope this experience doesn't stop you creating! This showed real potential!

I played this yesterday and I had a lot of fun with it. As others have stated the menu layout is great. I also like how you have the scoring setup. At first I had a hard time, but after I got a handle on the controls I felt the beat. I was even almost able to get a perfect on the first song. I messed up on the y,y,g,y combos of all things =P The medium difficulty was much harder but I was able to get through it. I never made it though hard =

The drum layout is great but I did not care for the use of the bottom touch pad. The big problem I have with the bottom touch pad in general is that I have to make a conscious effort not to touch it. I think using the L & R triggers would work better. It's not much of an issue with the blue-green-bottom or yellow-green-bottom combos. It's awkward, but still doable. The problem I had was with the red-green-bottom combos. Maybe its because of my big bear paws but it seems like I have to loosen my grip on the console or even take the right hand off to do it. I find myself in the end holding the thing by the palms of my hands instead of a nice comfortable grip.

Problems with the bottom touch pad aside this was an well made fun level. Sorry to hear about the sharing issue you had, but thanks for making it. I would also love to see a sequel.

Actually, I set the back screen to multitouch so you could touch it and hold it while playing and notice no difference (at least with only one touch). But I guess I can see your point about having the LR buttons also work for the kickpedal. I'll add that in as a feature, it won't be difficult at all.

And yes, the hard difficulty one is nearly impossible to complete for anyone not experienced with music games. I made it at the behest of my brother, who really wanted one song to be very difficult. If you do want to play it, just turn on no fail and try it out.

And actually, the guy who copied it sent me a message saying he deleted it. So I can't even complain about that anymore.

Edit: After looking at the level, I realized that after a previous update the multiple rear touch was no longer working. Sorry about that. I'll republish it with the LR changes later tonight.

As far as the LR changes go, I think it makes it way tougher, but if some people want it, go ahead and try it.
