Emitter/Destroyer Logic Help?

Archive: 4 posts

Hey everyone, very new to LBP2 creator tools, so I'm trying to create things to teach myself, but I'm having issues with emitters.

Theres a section of my level where you get boosted upwards to grab a spongy material, and then you slide with it forwards. The spongy object is what I want emitted, but I also want it destroyed when it reaches a certain point.

The object currently has a tag on it, and the spot where I want the object destroyed has a tag sensor on it, linked to a destroyer on the object I want emitted.

I believe I'm doing it correctly by setting up the object with all the sensors/affectors, and then using "Capture Object". The only issue I have is, the connection between the tag sensor and the destroyer gets removed when it is emitted. Also, what emitter settings do I use if I only want there to be 1 object emitted at a time, and then emit a new one when the other is destroyed?

Please let me know if I'm on the right track with my logic, and what I'm doing wrong.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

There's more than one way of making this work, I'll explain what I think is the easiest.

Make a 3 layer thick piece of invisible Sticker Panel or Hologram and place a tag on it, then put the material in the location where you want your objects to be destroyed.
Place a microchip* on the object you're going to emit and place and Impact Sensor and a Destroyer on the microchip. Set the Impact Sensor to Require Tag and select the same tag you put on your invisible material. Connect the Impact Sensor to the Destroyer. When your object passes through the invisible material, the impact sensor will activate.
Capture into My Objects and then set up the Emitter. I don't recommend using Live Capture/Dynamic Emitting simply because it's had glitches in the past.
Set the Emitter to

Frequency: 0
Lifetime: infinte
Max Emitted at one time: 1
Destroy Oldest when max Emitted Reached: No

*Using a microchip here is not essential, but it's a good idea to keep all of your logic on microchips.

Here's a simple solution. Set it up the other way around. Put the tag on the spot where you want the sponge to be destroyed and the tag sensor and destroyer on the spongy material. That way the sponge is emitted all ready to be destroyed and you don't have to work about the connection.2012-10-06 21:19:00

Hey, thanks a lot

Feel so silly that I didn't think about just switching them around like that.
