Sackature Science Moon Testing Facility.

Archive: 13 posts

Hey all, I've not been around for quite some time so I figured I'd make an appearance and show you guys what I've been tinkering with.. Basically I had this idea for a portal like puzzle/platformer with lots of atmosphere and fun. My spin on the portal universe has gotten me into a bind.. see I've been unable to create both the blue bounce gels and the orange propulsion gel.

I'm kinda new to the LBP2 style editor but I'm quickly learning it. I've made a few levels on the psp but it was all pretty easy to hop back in. My level requires laser puzzles and I'm not really sure where to start. I feel an emitter could work but what item would I stick in it, how could I get it to stay with the emitter?

If you guys could help me out with how to go about creating these things it would get my puzzles finally finished and then I could move on to the end boss battle..

42198 Sackature Science!
42199 WIP image

I've uploaded some WIP shots, will update as I get more work done. I'm still needing assistance in how to do the logic to make a laser beam. Should I just hologram it up and add a tag sensor to the hologram? how can I make it emit it so it stays with the object like a true laser beam?

I've had a lot of luck creating laser beams made of hologram or sticker panel glued to the end of the laser. Just put some logic onto the laser beam so that it will only be visible and deadly when you want it to. That way the beam will stick to the laser perfectly, and should look quite good. No emitters involved.

Edit: I think I have perhaps misunderstood your question, perhaps some more clarification would be in order.

This area of the forum does not seem to garner many posts, from the little time I've spent here. Anyway, the screenshots looked great, and I'm looking forward to seeing the final result!2012-10-10 00:51:00

Sorry I haven't left my feedback, I normally leave some kind of feedback on active projects but I've been too lazy to click on the pictures . Looks great though!2012-10-11 06:19:00

TY! I actually had some awesome ideas in a dream last night.. or maybe it was before bed eh I dunno how I got the idea I just woke up and was like, "EUREKA!" so while I would love to make a 100% true portal experience It is a moon testing facility so perhaps there's some new equipment that was designed up there... So maybe if any experienced creators may help me out thinking 3 dimensionally since there will be a couple Zero G chambers and I've never made some before..

Hah, I feel like this is a Black Mesa/Aperture Science fightoff, I like it... lol. TY for the compliments I am currently working on the puzzles and will later do a boss battle since my levels always have boss battles tho judging by how much I've used on this level already I may not beable to without making it's own level which I suppose works.

You could use the emit/destroy technique. If your level isn't too weird with logic you can destroy the first part of your level and then emit the boss so no one will ever know 2012-10-13 04:08:00

It's actually pretty complex.. I actually have a question if you can answer this for me, how would I emit a light redirection cube that uses tags and sensors but the object is generated connected to the tags and sensors they'd need to be attached to, just capture it connected then have it emit? Would the logic stay intact?

If you are connecting something with wires, you have to have both ends of the wire emitted for it to stay intact. Otherwise, if you are trying to emit something that is connected to something that is not emitted you'll need to use tag sensors instead of wires.2012-10-13 20:04:00

Ah thank you, Tags/sensors it is! I sometimes forget about that as I always like to connect objects so there's no issue of someone breaking them kinda deal.. That's the one thing I try to do about all my levels, I try to make it so that you dont just break a level and have to redo it all over again... kinda ruins the emmersion for myself

Will post more pics soon, I've hit a snag and I'm still currently designing the puzzles and putting the little finishing touches on them..
