The Temple of Ecirb

Archive: 19 posts

Hey this is my first time posting here. I am currently working on a series of connected levels. The plot for the series is meant to be confusing at first but more will be revealed as it goes on.

Level name: Temple of Ecirb

Creator: pyrimidhead

The plot may be a little confusing if you havent played my level Ancient Chapel, which is the first act to my story(though its not as good of a level).

The Temple of Ecirb is an ancient temple built to house an artifact of great power, but to gain access to the temple, you need the Tome of Ecirb, which was previously found in an old chapel(LVL 1: Ancient Chapel). With the tome in your possession, you set out to uncover what secrets the temple hides, what treasures, and most importantly, the artifact!

The Temple entrance:

The Temple is full of traps!

Choose your path you wish to take, one is easier, one is harder:

Many secrets await those who look for them!

And finnaly, the mysterious Halls of the past...

(reference to my first level)

Can you make it out of the temple alive?

Well, let me get this out here first, as I think it's the easier question to answer.

To get your pictures here, take some photos in LittleBigPlanet first. Go through your level and take some photos of things you want us to see. When you go into your Pop-It and go to your Stickers, you can press [square] while over the photo, which brings up another mini menu. Here, you should find an Export to HDD option. What this does is copies the photos to your PlayStation 3's hard drive, which you can view in the photo section on the cross media bar. At this point you can use a USB Flash Drive to copy the pictures from your hard drive to the memory stick.

Do you need more help with this? I can go on or help explain something else about this to you.

Makes sense, but I lack a flash drive. Would I be able to email or import them somehow without the use of the card?2009-01-13 02:55:00

Hmm. I'm not sure. The flash drive is the only method that I really know of. You can ask someone else to go through your level and do this method for you. I could do it, but not until Saturday. If you want to find someone to get photos to you earlier, go ahead, but I can do it if you're fine with waiting.

If you have your PS3 connected to a Vista windows media center PC you can move the photos over by your wireless internet connection...that is how I do it. Media Center is an easy way to access all your music, photo's etc you may have on your pc from your PS3. Otherwise I think you will need a USB drive.

Oh...wait there is another way. If you have a PSP you can copy them to your PSP then USB your PSP into your PC. I have done that before too. You just connect your PSP to your PS3 via wireless (i have done it this way only) or via the USB cable. Then highlight the files in your photos area, select copy, and then select your PSP. Unplug. Then just USB your PSP into your PC and copy the files over using File Explorer.

looks brilliant, I'm going to go check it out

EDIT: Sorry to say I didn't get that far into it, there was a lot of "cheap death" I noticed, like the 3rd set of falling rocks you just had to jump and hope - perhaps its just me on this though

I dont mind a level being hard but I felt I was being punished too severely, checkpoints were miles apart and if you fail at one small bit you found yourself havign to do alot again

Dont get me wrong it looks like a great level, just not to my tastes sorry

Ty for your feedback, I went and changed the falling rocks so that there is a small pause in between their falling pattern, making it easier to make it past that.
Let me know what you think

That was a cool level, that I enjoyed most thoroughly.

Pros:
+The intro was neat, it wasn't one of the normal spawn points.
+The design was nice.
+It had a nice story to go with it.
+The ending was a good way to end it.

Cons:
-The broken walls didn't look good, just looked like a wall with lots of triangles.
-It was kind of short
-Needs a sign saying which was the Meek path, and which was the Brave path.

You said we needed a 'tome', that you get from the first level, to pass the front door? Well I got past it without this tome.

Overall great level, 5 stars and hearted.

Btw, if you could, I would like some more feedback for my Forgotten Island series. If you could give me some that would be great! :hero:

ty for the feedback as for the broken walls, meh, it was kinda an after thought. and the tome is part of the story I was originally gonna make it a locked level so you would have to play the first level and get the book, but my first level is kinda..meh lol
And I wanted people to figure out which path is which just from trial and error.
Im gonna go check out your level now, ty on the heart btw^^

the problem with trial and error is you need to be able to go back and correct your mistake - If i remember you cant go back from the bottom path (though I could be wrong)

also thanks for looking at my level - I wasnt really considering my post worthy of f4f - but cheers

True, but both paths are about the same difficulty, one just focuses on timing while the other focues on jumping skills.
But I will post something saying which path is which and see how it works out

This Level has been updated with a few problems fixed and the level generally more accessible as far as difficulty goes. Have also reduced the amount of lag you get from the lower portion of the level. Let me know what you think 2009-04-03 09:10:00

Neat level! It seems to be inspired by the Jack McSetback series. Is it?

+ Has a nice overall feel to it. It looks good, and although not extremely polished, is passable
+ How the keys connected to form a star was cool
+ Fun platforming

- After the big door (that requires the keys) opens, I wasn't sure where to go. I went right, but didn't realize that I needed to jump to keep going. Eventually I figured it out, but you probably should make it flat.
- The flaming logs were pretty difficult, and looked messy. I think it could look better if they got launched into the other fire pit, instead of just a seemingly random place
- Not much innovative in the way of visuals. It looks good, but it is the same old temple style.
- The keys seemed a bit odd. It would have been much cooler if you actually had to grab the keys, and then maybe they would disappear, so it seems like you picked it up.
- The dissolve material at the end is not stickered, you can still see the green.

All in all, a fun level, but it could use some improvement

I checked out your level the other night and it's pretty fun! I thought your balloon was cool and the opening steps with the book are interesting too. I like your detailed motif on the walls and the squares. The platforming wasn't too hard but you did have some challenging sections which were fun to try to get through. I too was a little confused about which direction to go at some points and I was able to finish with only finding one key. I wasn't sure which direction was easy versus hard but they both were fun to run through. It's a nicely built level with some interesting challenges. I gave it 4 stars! Thanks for sharing it!2009-04-10 02:44:00

yea about the single key thing, its a glitch, not intended lol, I just noticed it when playing through it agian. Going to fix it.
As far as the big door needing to jump to get past, that was part of the design because the doors wouldn't open with there being just flat ground there, im not entirely sure why, but I had to put a small piece of ground back there for it to work out.
Also since it seems that people want it, im going to now specify which path is which.
