I needed a temporary distraction from Pseudo Cluedo, so I went into a new level and mocked up a sudoku grid. Then doodling around, I prettied it up with a background and design elements. Supmike came along and started tinkering with some logic. What he came up with today must be pretty advanced, because it excited him that it worked and simultaneously caused my eyes to gloss over. All I know is that it involves combinations of coded tags and switches, because I was tasked with making the master set of tags and switches. I am responsible for the look of the level and some of the more rudimentary logic, like the digit selector on the side, but the engine under the hood is all supmike. Also, I'm like Watson, inspiring Holmes to come to the right conclusions by myself first coming to the wrong ones. This does not bother me, as I benefit in the outcome. Below is a pic of the board and a pic of how the numbers will look in front of the background. http://i7.lbp.me/img/ft/b076ffca499d8d00e0db7e12cbf410b0f41d4306.jpg http://ie.lbp.me/img/ft/f8e045f737d23dbfa353033d1182e8ff04527d38.jpg | 2012-09-30 23:25:00 Author: DreadRandal Posts: 434 |
Readability might be an issue. When dealing with lots of numbers like that, probably would be better to have a solid background, at least for the puzzle board itself. | 2012-09-30 23:52:00 Author: Brannayen Posts: 438 |
The backing won't be opaque, nor will it be unreadable. I have plenty of time to tweak a happy medium. It already looks a bit different from the pics in the first post. Mateos even took a break from the Pseudo Cluedo card dealer tonight to work with me on a clock timer that shows you either how long you've been playing, or you will be able to toggle it to see how long you have before your time based score awards you no points. Your game will continue, but your score will be zero if you take too long. Max score time and points allotted will be adjusted for degrees of difficulty. The higher the difficulty selected, the longer time you get to score as well as a higher maximum score. The degrees of difficulty range from easy (20-30 starter numbers) to extreme (2-3 starter numbers.) We're working on a system that will randomly select numbers to create a unique puzzle every time you play, as well as (depending on the difficulty setting) randomly reveal the starter numbers. (all of which will definately be seen clearly on the board.) | 2012-10-01 07:23:00 Author: DreadRandal Posts: 434 |
