Level Freezing...

Archive: 3 posts

A level I've been on and off again working on for just about a year now is freezing every single time I go into create mode in it. I load in, try to add some stuff, and a couple minutes later the whole system freezes and I have to restart. Then, every time the PS3 starts up again, I get that "Restore Hard Drive" message. What could be the problem here? Is my level permanently broken?

Edit: It might have to do with a certain chip/object that I keep trying to bring into the level. It tends to freeze very soon after I open this piece I've been working on in another level. The only thing is that the object works fine in the other level. If this is a possibility, what can I do to untaint the item?

Is possibly a thermo issue?

You've also mentioned you've been working on the level for a long time. There was an issue with lbp early on (can't remember if it was lbp1 or lbp2) where there was an internal clock in create mode. If the clock reached it's limit, it caused problems. The solution at the time was to split your level into large chunks, capture them as objects and put it all back together in fresh level on your moon. Hopefully someone else here can confirm if this is still an ongoing issue or if it was fixed.

Either way I'd back up your Ps3 to an external hard disk and publish the levels on your Moon and lock them just to be on the safe side.

It'd suck to lose everything.

The thermo is fine--right at about 50%. When I add everything in, it'll probably be around 90% but a lot of the level will be emitted (it's a side-scrolling shooter). When I open certain chips, the game gets very laggy. It's a lot of logic and wires in a very small space. But that doesn't seem right, though, because I swear I've seen other levels with waaay more logic going on.

And I've been backing everything up often. I guess I'll try working on it once more and if it happens again I might as well try capturing everything and putting it on a new level. Thanks for the suggestions and I'll keep you posted.
