Transferring Chips

Whenever I try to transfer a chip from one Controlinator to another, the game insists on keeping the wires running through the original Controlinator. Then every time I try to transfer the chip and delete the original Controlinator, it just deletes all the wires altogether. Does anyone know how to fix this?2012-09-29 07:39:00

If the output port from a microchip runs to something outside the controlinator circuit board, or to the prospective circuit board for transfer, then the wires won't be routed through the first controlinator as you describe.2012-09-29 15:32:00

Yeah none of the wires have anything to do with the controlinator that the chip is on. Nothing from the controlinator is being connected to it, and none of the outputs are connected to anything else on the controlinator circuit board.2012-09-29 20:33:00

Can you not just copy the chip, place it wherever you want it to go, then delete the original?2012-10-01 10:31:00

I could, but there are a lot of wires connected to outputs outside of the Controlinator that I'd rather not have to reconnect. That's actually the problem. I want to move the chips with all the wires still connected so that I don't have to sift through it all. And on some wires, I can't even tell where they go.2012-10-02 01:24:00

Why do you need to move it? If the position of the chip is unimportant you can easily just leave it there. If the position is important and you have tags or sensors or tweakers, etc. on it then you can just take them off the chip and move them to the new controlinator.2012-10-02 03:10:00

I just think it's annoying that a few random wires run through the Controlinator for absolutely no reason at all. Kalawishis's suggestion is probably the best, but I really want to reduce the amount of unnecessary logic and keep things as neat as possible--especially considering how big of a mess the level already is. I guess if there's no simple solution, though, then it's not a big deal.2012-10-02 03:50:00

Have you tried moving the chip to another object, a piece of cardboard for example and THEN moving it over to the other controlinator? A long shot but worth a try at least.2012-10-02 09:53:00

Select all the chips you want to move, and then move them all together. If there is any unnecessary wires left, just delete them.2012-10-02 14:18:00

Yeah I've tried moving it to other objects first. It's one big chip with lots of other chips and outputs inside of it. Usually only two or three inputs, but those are disconnected, of course. The weird thing is that sometimes it doesn't happen at all and everything works fine. It's these inconsistencies that really bug me.

And it's not unnecessary wires that run through, so I can't just delete them. They're connected to things I need to keep connected, I just don't want to have to keep that Controlinator sitting around.

I thought this would be a common problem with an easy fix, but at this point it's not worth the trouble. But thanks for all the suggestions!
