lol
Sorry... I'm asking.

I was really hoping they could, cause it's important for the level I want to make.

Aww sorry, I guess they don't then. What happens if you dephysicalize the sackbot though? that might help him stay under. Not sure though2012-09-27 04:48:00

It won;t let you dephysicalize a sackbot.

It's not an issue, it's just another limitation you have to work around. Think about it: Mm/Tarsier would have to program 'bots how to swim. To swim around obstacles, no less. Processes like that would take up several sections of thermometer by themselves. And even if they were to make a "oh hey sackbots can swim pack" they'd have to release a clunky set of keys and tools to make the whole thing possible.

I'd rather have the poor things fizzle when they hit the water than to suffer the fate of having an overheated level with a happy, swimming thing.

I agree with the above expect when you are controlling a Sackbot with a controlinator. This should be the exception to the rule. Since it is a 1 to 1 movement with what your Sackboy is doing then there is nothing for them to have to code.

This topic actually came up when talking with Syroc on episode 28 of our podcast. There are workarounds that will allow you to make convincing swimming motions if you think about it.

First, you'll need a water-like material (of which there are several excellent ones) and dephysicalize it. Next, set up a sackbot with a gravity tweaker, some gyros/rotators, and custom animation and presto, you have a "swimming" sackbot. Done right it would be very convincing indeed.

As an added bonus, this would allow you to have sections of "water" that aren't limited to just the bottom of the level. You could have pipes filled with water, elevated pools, ponds with dry tunnels under them, etc.
