This is a Little Big Planet take on the web phenomenon, Slender. Perhaps one of the most terrifying games made on LBP2 to date. The logic of this level is programmed to make the experience unique every time you play it! Playing this game more than once is recommended. For the full experience, turn the volume up and the lights down (at night if you can).

Please give me any advice or critiques you can think of while playing and I'll do my best to do the same for you. I'll F4F the first ten posters. Feel free to review only the level or leave a detailed review here. If you want a quick response, send me a comment on LBP2 and I'll see it sooner.

I really hope you enjoy my work and I look forward to playing yours!

Ooo scary, I've queued, will review soon <3

Edit

I like making pretty things but in my spare time when I'm not on LBP I watch any horror movie that's out there and have a bookcase and now a kindle full of horror books (Stephen King is my fav) and so your level was right up my street and I thoroughly enjoyed playing it, It gave me the creeps right from get go, the graphics and gameplay were spot on as was the music, I felt alone, I felt lost, I felt scared. The urge to rush and the frustration that you can't made me feel helpless and not in control, all perfect feelings for a horror setting.
A really well made level with a lot of effort put in to get the right atmosphere, I didn't feel like I was in LBP anymore Well done I look forward to playing more of your creations ni the future <3

Time for some FEEDBACK! Yay!

PRESENTATION: The level thread is perfect. It really makes you want to play the level. The chosen pics are epic as well.
The badge was OK, I usually dislike badges with only the level's title, but this one seems to fit the theme just perfectly fine.

LEVEL: You see, I usually don't play "Scary levels", because I think most of them are quite pointless and not really scary, anyway, I must say this one looked quite promising.

The level begins pretty... uhm... scary. And that's good... I guess. Now, seriously, it made me a perfect first impression. The slow-paced gameplay mechanics made me remember of the good first Resident Evil games, and the lantern thingy is quite creative.

Having the LBP Vita Week 1 T-shirt with me displaying an "I love LBP" message in this kind of level was just like LOL

So, there I went in an epic first walkthrough. And there I was, walking randomly and... Yay! A note! This is going to be sooo easy... My first complain is that in the start everything feels maybe a bit too slow-paced. I know it is how it's supposed to be, but many people may leave just because in the beginning nothing happens.

And then I reached a room with a guy standing there. I was just like LOLWUT what do I do with him? So me and my genious go and press R1 with him. And... a cutscene... and Wait!?!?! I lost!? Oh, right. You must not touch the scary black-and-white guys. Good. You should tell about it anyway, so that we know he isn't a friendly element in the level. Now that I'm writing this that seems pretty obvious, but I thought it was necessary to interact with him so that the level could continue.

Anyway, I felt that 1/8 notes was kinda pathetic, so there I went into my second walkthrough! I was also eager to see that randomization you talked about.

I tried going in the opposite direction, and so I went in another creepy adventure. Now that I'm writing this, I must tell you I loved the level. I felt again what you could feel in RE1, you had to look in all directions, specially after entering a new room, and when I found more creepy guys I almost always got a heart attack and run out of the place. I loved it, because it really feels like a great scary level. The scenery was really nice, and I would highly recommend it to all the sackpeople who wish to have a scary adventure. Not for the light-hearted, that is. I seriously hope it doesn't get moderated like that Afraid movie, because I really liked it.
As a personal note: I only managed to get 4 notes this time, but I'm coming back for MOAR.

THE GRADES:

Gameplay: 3.5/5 I liked the general idea of the level, the gameplay mechanics fitted into the theme. Anyway, it sometimes may feel too slow.
Graphics: 4/5 It wasn't spectacular, but that makes it perfect. I loved the idea you could only see a bit of what lied ahead of you, and the sackbot animations were very satisfying. The creepy guys were also epic.
Sound: 5/5 I didn't really know if this deserved a 5/5; but as I think of it, it made perfect use of music and sounds. I mean, probably 70% of the "scariness" a movie/(level in this case) is produced by music and sounds, and this did scare me. More than I would want to admit.
Overall: 4/5 A great level that no sack should miss. Its absolutely different from what we see everyday in LBP these days, and it makes a different walkthrough everytime! What else could you ask?

Wow, thank you for that wonderfully detailed review. That really made all the effort worth it. I'm glad some one who doesn't typically like these games enjoyed it none the less. You don't seem to be familiar with the Slender myth. ^_^

I did say in the level description that something is following you and you shouldn't look at him. You may have missed that. There is a First person PC game called Slender, and in this game you don't move very fast at all (almost frustratingly so) and I think this plays into the design of urgency. That is why you move so slow. Since this is a LBP crossover I wanted to be true to the gameplay of the original without going for the (sometimes wonky) 3D rips you see sometimes.

I would like to play some more of your levels and work on reviewing them with the same vigor as you do ^_^

Thanks again. You're a great creator and it means a lot to hear what you think about my creations.

I gotta admit that I'm not that into the spooky kind of levels but since I've played the actual game (which gave me the creeps!) I'm goving this one a go.
First of all: You did quite a good job combining two of the scariest themes i know: Slender and an asylum/hospital scenery!
Just reading the title made it clear for me to NOT turn off the lights! Darkness, creepy soudtrack, blood spilt on the walls and tipped over wheelchairs.
That's it with the athmosphere of the level.
Gameplay was decently done, too.
With the slow walking and a short ranged flashlight, the original game was adapted quite well. I gotta say though, that I quickly lost the orientation in the hallways of the asylum, but this kinda works well with the spirit of Slender.
I kinda got the feeling that the whole asylum was built for people who became insane collecting notes in the actual forest of Slender!
The ending, as I finally collected all the pages was, well... surprising, but relieving as well.

By the way, I don't know if this is a bug or not: As I wandered through the asylum I found pages in rooms I have been before without finding a page. I found this kinda strange, because it gave me the feeling that the level is kinda random. I don't know how your system works but maybe you should make sure that the pages appear once and don't come out of nowhere.

Hope I could help.

Thanks for that, Luke. No, its not a bug, the notes are programmed to spawn one at a time so you can't find them too easily. I really was quite simple when they are all in there at once. I can see how that might also be frustrating. I played your level and will be reviewing it soon.2012-10-02 14:54:00

I have to say this level was very nicely done, I actually played it a few times to check the entire thing out, I really enjoyed the randomness of the play, the first time I played it I was killed off right the bat, wrong turn lol. The next time got all the notes but was caught by 'you know who' before I could get out, Third time was a challenge again searching and researching for the notes (thinking where are this notes? this guy is following me and I am about lost now...) but I did find all them again and knew the level pretty well after all the searching so off to the end I set off and here he is AGAIN hunting me down... I made it out! yea! I LOVED the challenge, and was glad I made it thru.

The creepy factor is very good quality- the sounds, lighting, a maze of halls armed with only a small flashlight, all very dark and spooky.

Playability was good- I didn't have any glitches/camera issues, the quick sprint worked fine, I liked the fact the random notes that were in places you've passed before but were not once there- I enjoy having to research around keeps the game moving forward in a eerie way.

Details- the level looked nice, the odd writings on the walls, basement was great, plenty of effects and movement appears when needed. my only slight issue (and I do mean slight) was in the intro I felt it could of been a little brighter (like a little accent lighting maybe red or dark purple to slightly light up the walls a little) to really see and read it (IMO) but it looked good. The heavy breaths and sounds etc added a nice element to the atmosphere. I think it had nice detail for being such a dark level, It is kinda hard to make a darker level like this "eye candy" but it was well put together and looked great

I really enjoyed this level and would recommend it for others to experience, be prepared to take your time and really look around and watch where that light is pointing...it's a good dark challenge that will keep you wondering what is in the next hall or room.

Wonderful Job! One of if not the Best Dark Horror levels I have played.

Okay. I decided to brave your level. From what I've heard of slender, its pretty darn scary. And then this also looks pretty **** scary. I'll write this review as I play.
Straight away, I'm scared. That breathing is too darn scary. I turned down my hifi system straight away.
Just plain scary. As I wander the hallways, with the ominous beating, I can tell slenderman is gonna pop up at any moment. But when? Oh the fearrrrr......
The torch system is cool, i like the way that it moves quite slowly. The first time slender man popped up I really wanted to get my torch on him, but I couldn't coz of the slow rotation. I liked that. Added more fear.
The Asylum decoration is good. Simple, but clean. Could have done with some more crazy-person writing on the walls, sorta like in CoD Zombies?
When I went right at the start I didn't really get what was happening. It went black for a second, then changed camera onto a less zoomed one. Then, if I went right again, the same thing happened. Hm.
Anyways.....
Visuals: 8/10 Nice, but needs a little bit more to make it terrifying.
Sound: 7/10 Good sound effects, could have done with a few more random sounds, such as doors being opened to suggest other movement in the hospital.
Gameplay: 7/10 Quite slow to get into, but when SlenderMan popped up for the first time a did scream. Just a little. Then, when he came up the second time, I almost didn't scream.

F4F my level please, in my Signature. There's a thread for it in the cool levels section. Cheers.
