LBPV Coop joining issue

Archive: 9 posts

Hi guys,

This is my very first post here so "hello everyone!".

Here is my issue:

Me and my girlfriend bought 2 copies of LBPV and we have 2 PS VIta at home. We launched the game, install the Online Pass, everything was ok.

Then, as we try to connect to each other, the game would load but we would always end up on our own. As if the game was saying "click here to join your friend's game" but upon loading decided "nope, you will play alone actually"...

This is very frustrating. Coop is the reason we bought this LBPV, we loved it so much on the PS3 episodes.

So please, if anyone has any idea on what's going on, just let me know.

Cheers

PS: for info, we both connect to internet via wifi, to the same access point.

Try putting her on your friends list and then inviting her to your pod

Does it say "Failed to Connect to _____"?

Nope I got no message, nor did my gf. The game loads for the client and then you just arrive in the HUB, without the other partner.

That's the weird part, it's like before starting loading the game, we go into the Friends App, then select "Join this game" then the game loads fine but once loaded, we are in separate games. No error message.

Could it be an IP address conflict or something similar?

And yes, we are PSN friends already.

Hi Eska,

Sorry to hear that you're having this issue. Please answer the following questions and we'll see if we can discover the cause of the issue:

- Have you tried inviting her from within the game? If yes, are the results the same as if you invite her from the PS Vita Friends App?

- Have you both completed the 'Le Marionetta' theme, so that network and community functions are unlocked throughout the game?

- Does your router have UPnP enabled? (If so, please try disabling it and let me know if the issue still occurs)

- Please send me a private mail with your router manufacturer, model number and firmware number.

- Please explain your router setup (e.g. Vita > Switch > Router > Internet)

Thanks in advance,

Olly

I love seeing how active Developers are in fixing issues. I have a separate thread with the same issue so I'll just wait patiently for mine to be looked into.2012-09-26 16:05:00

Hi Heratiki,

If you could answer the same questions asked, in this thread, so that we can effectively merge them, that would be useful.

Thanks,

Olly

No problem... I'll give you all of my specifics and see what you can come up with. Here goes...

http://www.speedtest.net/result/2203910101.png (http://www.speedtest.net)

Is my current connection and ping results from the local SpeedTest station about 50miles away.

I have a DOCSIS 3.0 Modem which is a combo Wireless N Router - Motorola Surfboard SBG6580. It would be ridiculous for me to give you all the specs so instead I'll link to Motorola (http://www.motorola.com/us/consumers/SBG6580-SURFboard%C2%AE-eXtreme-Wireless-Cable-Modem/70902,en_US,pd.html)

I have admin access to the router portion of the software (NAT Translation - Port Forwarding - SSID control etc etc) just like a typical router. I have uPnP enabled and will test and edit this post in a few minutes to see if that helps the issue. Currently I have tried the following:

1. Port Forwarding 3478-3479 to the IP of my PS Vita without any change. - Not something I like because it would cause issues for the other Vita in the house and we both have LittleBigPlanet. I would suffer no online for my step-daughter to be able to play if need be.
2. Port Triggering 3478-3479
3. Enabled - Multicast - uPnP - IpSec passthrough - PPTP Passthrough (all default behavior for the router)

Things I have yet to try:

1. Setup PS Vita as DMZ - Not really and option as it would not fix the issue for both Vita's
2. Turn off uPnP - Tested this while writing this post. Still the same Failed to connect to players problem as well as pushing my Vita into a NAT 3 Type which is not good for any game.
3. Turn off WAN Blocking (This blocks ping responses to my network - Could be an issue but keeps me from any possibility of Denial of Service attacks (An issue I had from playing online PC games of the past.) This is also a default for the router.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need any further specifics.

EDIT: Just wanted to clarify that I connect straight to this Modem/Router for internet access to the Vita. There is another router on the network but is acting only as a custom switch and not a gateway. I've just disabled it and tested again with the same results as above.

Any news on this front? I have found that I can have others join me or me join them as long as they initiate it. If I attempt to invite people or play with randoms then I get the "Failed to Connect to Players" issue. This usually kicks me back to my Pod... Hope this helps...
