trolling (i admit is fun) can be annoying if it's directed at you, how do you give trolls the displeasure and deal with them so they don't bother you?

I simply out-troll them. I have sharper teeth than any troll out there and in a battle of words I will always emerge the victor. This kid (a well known troll operating under an alias) tried trolling me a few weeks ago. We exchanged a few blows, then I knocked the little brat out cold with the following... Dude, I've had a lot of fun reading the insults you left on my comments page, and I've had just as much fun returning the favour, but you took it way too far when you sent me a photo of your (male appendage). My 6 year old child saw that as I looked at the attachment in your message, which means you have effectively exposed yourself to a minor. Thats a serious offence which you could go to jail for, you know? After leaving this comment on his profile, the kid's cocksure tone changed as he suddenly became irrate and defensive. Get a troll angry and you know you just out-trolled em. To add insult to injury, the next day he was banned from PSN after I convinced a few friends to grief the racist, homophobic comments he had left on other peoples profiles. Ungreth wins

You have to be a bigger troll than they are. You need to truly laugh with them at everything they do. Encourage them on as they troll to make the community more mad because it really is funny. Let them see you do that. Show them you are more evil than they are. If you are playing with a tryhard, you just wasted your time. If they are a real troll then maybe they might respect you a little and stop trolling you. If you are a tryhard, you deserve to be trolled by them. So once you have some respect from them, you could keep going and gain their trust. After you have their trust, you could have other nice things like extremely early access to new glitches, rare objects or some good laughs together on a few trolling adventures. Maybe you might actually be friends with them someday. If you don't really care, just act stupid and they might leave you alone. Don't reply to any of their messages and they should go away soon.

And what's worse than trolling is flaming. And that is where you insult someone. Hate comments is more likely flaming rather than trolling.

Goldenruler attempted to troll me on LBP.me I told him something in the line that if he wanted to troll me he had to be a man, not hide behind the web, take a plan and risk what would have happened meeting me face to face, but if he liked to be vile and coward he was welcomed to write what he wanted on my page. Easy. You don't. Just sit back and watch them try and get your attention (or not). They try so hard. If you don't like the smack they're talking, confront them in a calm manner. It really gets on their nerves, because all trolls want is to see you peeved off. Then they have a temper tantrum, and it's comedy from then on. Usually when they spout rivers of potty words, you can tell them that you reported them and they get scared and leave you alone. It works for me.

Just ignore trolls. they'll go away. If you do fight with them then quickly leave the agruement fast! Best not to go though this. If you do out troll them then congrats. But it is easier to just ignore them.

I troll them usually. And if they troll me, then I kick them (I mean slapping in game etc..). If they try the way of writing me some things, then I laugh, because I kinda like trolls (Maybe because I am one of them). Or I just take my anti-troll vest and then I have fun Also, those stupid people that try to insult you...Well, often it doesnt help writing them back. Because they are so stupid that they will keep on insulting, no matter what you say. Then, just report them, or tell them you will. If they dont stop, then say something like your friend is admin on PSN and will ban him. If he still dont stop, just report him. If nothing happens do it again untill they stop. Or dont respond, they will stop. (I mean insulting on comments, insulting by the chat function is nothing serious, you could always kick them. What I really love to do, is when I join someone and it happens they go to create mode, then I spawn at least 20 bombs (They lag the game as hell) and just enjoy the total destruction and lag.

I know it is cliche but if it is just them messaging you profile. don't reply. act like you haven't read it move on with your life. if they goal is to get you mad and upset you, they would have failed and moved on. also don't even delete the comment (depending on the comment of course) just don't ed-knowledge its existence. after all, you can justify trolling as fun, all you want but in reality all it is someone with a lack of wit screaming out for attention.

I later realized that my friend has a lot of haters, including that traitor. I learned to not get involved in all these situations, but I have sympathy. Speaking of that troll, I can say something that can help get back on topic: Some of my friends think fighting is the best way to deal with trolls. One guy posted racist comments on that same troll's profile. Another guy written a nasty review on one of his levels (but changed it to "meh"). That isn't the right way to deal with trolls, but that's how they deal with them.

I think a lot of it does depend on how strong the trolling is, and whether or not you could call it trolling. If they're posting obscene and nasty comments, the only way to deal with it is to report them. If it's childish/non-serious trolling, the best thing to do might be to ignore it. They'll go away eventually and move onto someone else.

If you feel someone on the site is harassing you, inform one of the mods (Taffey, Lady_Luck or Morgana for example), or tell them you will have to report them if they continue. I'd bring some evidence to show where this is happening (link to one of the threads), and then discuss what can be done with whichever mod you contacted.

Well over the time.. trolls have tried to irritate me only in 'Minecraft' saying insults.. A way to have some fun Try to annoy them with the words they throw at you.. I feel like I don't care saying things like 'Oh good one.. tell it again so I can publish it in the book called "No one cares"'. Usually they leave after that

I simply show that my bark is just as worse as my bite. I embarrass them to the point where I make THEM tired of talking to me. Making more sense than them usually shuts them up so in my case - some sharp insults to their mentality and grammar and a farwell(a polite FU if you get me >=}) and its over.

Quite a huge bump, but I just don't allow those in my pod that are not on my friends list. My profile is set to auto reject for those I don't know. Mostly because I seem to always get requests when I am doing or in the middle of something like attempting to better a high score on a 1 player level, or working on something in a workshop.

I've always found the best way to deal with trolls - online or in real life - is to be sickeningly nice to them. They literally cannot handle it. Don't forget to add a smile, that really kills them.
