Create and OLED screen...

I'm wondering if the static on screen indicators like the thermo and preview mode toggle will potentially result in image burn on the Vita screen? Something to be cognizant of or not an issue? | 2012-09-20 16:27:00 Author: fullofwin Posts: 1214 |
As someone who has worked 40-70 hours a week for over a year on the same Vita, I can start to see some very slight image burn. Keep in mind that I rarely leave the editor and have no automatic sleep function. It was not uncommon to leave the Vita on in Create Mode, while I walk away for some reason. I can only see it when against a light, solid color backdrop, and it's effectively invisible most of the time. It's much less significant than the image burn that I got on my old TV from creating in LBP1 and LBP2. That has a pretty thermometer burn on the left side of the screen. I would suggest pausing the game when you put the vita down, as it removes all icons except the one in the top left. This is something I generally do not do. There is also the option to hide the HUD in the start menu, so that the thermometer won't cause any image burn. Of course, your mileage may vary... | 2012-09-20 17:33:00 Author: comphermc Posts: 5338 |
Ugh... that seems like a major design flaw. You should be able to hide HUD elements to avoid image burn. No way in hell I'm screwing up a $300 handheld just by playing a game too much. | 2012-09-20 17:42:00 Author: Nick930930 Posts: 878 |
Nick, you really shouldn't. It's unlikely that anyone will put their retail Vita through the same stresses that I have. I was also very careless. I'd leave it on and go out to dinner, for example, and it would not go to sleep. I've also left it on overnight by accident quite a few times. To be honest, I didn't notice it until I saw this thread and looked closely. | 2012-09-20 17:49:00 Author: comphermc Posts: 5338 |
Info on extensive/extreme real-world usage much appreciated comph! Since my tv is a DLP I haven't had to worry about this. I let my Vita sleep after a minute, so I was more concerned about when I'm using it. Didn't know about the option to hide the hud, good stuff, thanks! | 2012-09-20 18:01:00 Author: fullofwin Posts: 1214 |

You can hide it. After reading the post i think I'm gonna hide the HUD when i don't need it...Although it's on auto sleep-1 min so i doubt something bad would happen... | 2012-09-20 20:25:00 Author: ythyth Posts: 400 |
