[advice] stages/prizes using DLC

Archive: 5 posts

So, i've been putting together a Kanji display stage (again...it seems to be my wont to replicate my LBP1 stages in LBP2).

Now, i want to give Kanji away as prizes, on the very scant chance people might want to use them as decoration in their own stages, but...

i'm thinking of making the prizes out of sticker material (since there's less deformity when it's shrunk...well, to an extent). But, since that's a Move-pack material, and i have to assume not everyone has picked up that DLC material...would those players be able to pick up the prizes? Except for Toy Story, i've picked up everything (well, except for actually doing the move stages, for want of a controller), so the issue's never come up for me.

i could always give them away as cardboard, but...well, frankly it looks a little ugly.

Anyhow, thanks, as always, for any info or advice you can render.

Rather than giving away something attached to sticker material, you might just paint each kanji as a sticker using the Move paint tool and save that as a photo. This can be shared like any sticker/photo/object. Not sure about background transparency settings but I think it works fine. I did incredibly little with the Move while I had it so I can't say: howeve rI know that when I painted a picture with it to fulfill the trophy/pin, I was able to give it to another player who did not have the DLC, no problem. The only challenge now will be, haha, beautifully rendering all those kanji by hand?2012-09-20 04:48:00

Unfortunately...i don't have the Move kit, and won't be able to get it for at least a month, if that (seriously, J-Amazon has the basic starter kit going at 10,000y, and i haven't seen a single one in any of the used shops around here...sold better than i'd expected, i guess). If/when i do get it, i may just hold on to it, seeing as we only have the one controller right now, and (i think?) the Move can be used with LBPKarting, which my wife is actually interested in playing.

Drawing the kanji with materials isn't the worst thing in the world, i'm kinda used to the pain of it by now. i'm not sure if i'd say mine are beautifully rendered, but they're stylized in a (albiet blocky) way that i like. i'm actually looking forward to the paint function, i think i'll be able to do a better job of it than i'm doing now...i really do like to write in Japanese.

You might give away the prizes as cardboard material, but include a not recommending that creators use Sticker Panel if they have it.2012-09-20 20:34:00

Yeah, i think this is how i'm going to handle it. Now i have to kit up a selection system, 'cause there's going to be a ton of prize bubbles, and i doubt people will want all of them.
