Has anyone tried recreating the 3D layer glitch?

Has anyone tried recreating the 3D layer glitch? It's like, the most useful glitch ever. Most things I made in LBP2 used it. Has anyone tried to do the method to recreate it? Is it possible in this new engine?2012-09-19 17:36:00

Is it possible in this new engine?

Well, there is no new engine, just a mobile optimized engine.

As well there were ways to do it in the beta but they were accidentally patched.

Hopefully they've realized and will fix it next patch. That's not something you just leave like that.2012-09-21 02:53:00

Well in the beta the way was patched when they fixed a issue with in/out movers, they said it was unintentional but I doubt it will be coming back.

Aswell in the beta you can make theck by tacking out a score point, then backing out to the main popit menu and placing a material, that was patched sometime between end of the beta and now. :/

Anyway. I believe that with 3D level it will be better to wait fro LBPK. In LBP you need to do this by glitches and that is making everything complicated and limited.
In the LBPK you will have full 3D engine. And all you will have to do is hide the kart. Or keep it in view and just do some interesting model making it 3rd person game. Should be much ore poferwull for full 3D adventures.

^ just so you know somepeople Just like using the 3D layers as extra visuals. not for gameplay. and you can't walk around with your sackdoll in LBPK like you can in games like LBPV. also not everyone wants to only make games where you control a custom made object. a lot of people just wanna be their sackdoll and to not be stuck in a kart while doing so. *mew2012-09-21 07:46:00

YAY!

i was hoping for this

Now time to make a "master list" of 3d

edit: well that didn't last long. the object is real... but its community locked. W/o a way to replicate the glitch, i can't edit the vertices.

edit 2: made changes to list of restrictions after additional tests.

edit 3: YES! I was able to use the lbp2 inward emit trick to make some forward layer portions. I'm going to do a few more tests, and when i'm done, i'll try and make a master list that is not community locked. When I do i'll let you all know!

edit 4: half way done! finished the front layers.
edit 5: odd... the back layers are proving difficult... :/

Final edit: Well... looks like the back 3d layer can NOT be corner edited w/ or w/o community lock... you have to use the inward layering trick to put objects in... I'll make a level detailing everything... sorry for no bkground folks...
there are minor restrictions though:

- the 3d layers can NOT be thin. if they are, they move to the front.
- you can not corner edit the layers no matter how far in you zoom (the only way to select them is to fully select them via the cursor or to use touch. The only way to corner edit is to select it via touch; the edit cursor will not select the layers.)
- you can make individual layers through this by making the object 1 layer thick, then using an emitter (you can't just move the layer inward)

If someone can replicate the glitch w/o community locking it, i would be greatful :3

I know it's not exactly the same thing, but for multilayered visuals in a single layer it does the trick quite nicely.2012-09-21 20:25:00

i found a way to allow for editable background layers

Here you go peeps: http://vita.lbp.me/v/2t41

can you guys tell me if it is or is not community locked. I want it to be editable by all, but if its community locked, then i have to find a loophole D:

Its not community locked... But all the pieces are joined, and act as if they are one object... :/ not quite as simple as i imagined it to be... without corner editing, this will be abit of a pain... I supose its just a matter of going back to old emitter business of bumping layers2012-09-21 22:56:00

hmmm...
have you tried editing one of the objects out of the bunch. I remember in lbp2 when this sort of thing happened, you had to corner edit the layer you wanted, and it would be unstuck from the rest.

give that a try :/

Im not sure what you mean by "edit". its all one object when i try do anything. :/

One way around it though, is to use the destroyer logic on each one, to get them down to a single block.

the 3D glitch whereby you multiselect a microchip and then box select the object the microchip is on and then copy it, is still in the game : ) Just thought Id let everyone know!2012-09-21 23:29:00

Could you explain that glitch a little clearer Hallm? I didnt have the beta, (if thats what u were referring to), so im not sure what you mean..2012-09-22 00:07:00

just checked and hellm3 is correct. That 3d layer bug is in fact in the game :3

@ scarface: to replicate this glitch, place a block of any material, place a microchip on it, then, select the microchip and do a drag select of the material. press copy and the more times you past the further forward the object moves. I recommend making the object dephysicalized

Not sure that I am doing it right, but I select the micro chip, then i have to de-select it in order to box-select the materials piece thats it's sitting on... kinda confused still, to be honest.

But I have just realised that you can only place logic onto the first glitched-back-layer. Any layer further back, and it wont allow the destroyer logic to be placed. All the front layers are fine.

I started building my own cascade last week, it's not too hard to make, but a little trickier than the LBP2 method:

http://i5.api.vita.lbp.me/img/ft/145227b0c25c4196846d11bac5f3cea7c9dbf64e.jpg

It's difficult to edit though as you use the select-copy-create-new-object method to draw in any layer like you can in LBP2. I kind of hope that Tarsier patches back in the method that worked in the beta: dephysicalize and position with an in/out mover

ahh you've got thin layers working I havent had much chance to experiment with the emitting trick, but i assume that how u started building this? As long as the select-copy-new object method works, thats good enough for me. Thats what i was used to using anyway in lbp2. If you could release this as a copyable level, that would be awesome. or maybe release each layer on its own as a prize?2012-09-22 17:57:00
