My one complaint about this game.

The lag is atrocious, seriously the multiplayer is pretty much unplayable because of it. I hope Double Eleven and Tarsier fix it. Is there any way to contact them to complain about the lag?2012-09-19 05:24:00

Lag was atrocious when I played the other day with my son in our house. Our internet is DSL, not bad, actually should be fine for this. I'd prefer Ad Hoc for in the same location multiplay, like 2 Co-op/Competitive Ad Hoc option.2012-09-20 13:19:00

That sounds really strange, since once you two are joined up the network traffic should never really go further out than your own router.
There could be something messing with your wifi, like a lot of neighbors with their wifi on the same channel (sounds unlikely if you're in your own house though) or perhaps someone else on your own wifi torrenting like crazy which could cause packetloss on a normal cheapish wifi router.

If i were you I'd just do a test and sit down with the two vitas right next to your wifi router and play a bit and see if the lag is still bad, if it's fine when doing that then there's network probs in your own house

The amount of lag I've had has been all over the place, from positively atrocious to almost none at all. It might just be that some of the people I'm playing with have bad connections, or maybe the networking does still need more work.2012-09-21 16:44:00

actually traffic would go out away from local network to game servers...playing from same house or town prolly wouldnt make game less laggy if internet path is bad. we dont have lan play nor do we have adhoc2012-10-05 15:25:00

There's no "stand alone game servers" in LBP though, the online servers are just handling the "hooking up players with each others", "serving levels" etc. Once you're actually in a level together it's just one players vita/ps3 acting as "server" while the other players are connected as clients to their machine.

Lagfest 2012 for me.

I have people wanting to play with me all the time, and I want to play with them, but it is almost unplayable.

Inputs register 1-2 seconds after.

My next level will be strictly for one player. I might even add a restriction at the beginning.

I honestly don't care if they fix this or not, just fix the awful load times and I will be happy!

the loading times is not a big problem, i dont care if i should wait 1 hour to play a lv, just if i can play with friends, this game is to play with friends not to play alone, just fix the lag, doesn't matter if the load time are fast, if we can play, i play just a couple levels, i dont need more, but i play with people. , another think that make lag, is the people with microphone.... i don't like those people.2012-10-06 19:51:00

Just posting to say I also get lag with lbpv, and it's a problem with the game, I don't think it got the tested it should have had before release because it's a pretty widespread problem it seems. Best case scenario I've had is playing a friend fairly local to me and I know neither of us had other internet activity going on at the time, and it was still lagging out in places, even me although I was the one leading the game. It skips, control input lags and often speeds forward to catch up with itself. To me it seems less about the networking and more about some kinda CPU bottle neck. Here is hoping it's not some kinda hardware bug with some Vitas, or a limitation that they can not overcome.

Anyway, poking around the internet it does seem they are working on the issues and taking them seriously (although they don't seem to know what's causing it yet), so with any luck we will see a patch in the coming months that will sort all this out.

hi, i hear that if you change your dns to
Primary (first) 208.67.222.222
Secondary. 208.67.220.220
you can reduce the lag, is that true? i already tried this, and i feel a little bit smoother the game, but i can?t really notice the difference, can someone else try this and tell me if this work.
thank you.

I get times all over the place. Loading times are generally good unless i try to load a lv from my queue while it is really long. Lag times are ridiculous with 4 players normally because just 1 player has a bad connection. It really just depends on the time though. Still, I love LBPV a ton especially since i wasn't expecting it to be so similar to a ps3-quality version.2012-10-08 18:16:00

When I used to play multiplayer I would only get lag with some players but not with all. It was unplayable.
Now my biggest complaint is the load times for community levels. Sometimes I spend 10+ minutes just to load one level. Other times it won't even load so I have to go a complete system restart.

EDIT:

Oh, even better... 10 minutes to load a community level only to find out that the rear touch isn't functioning on a, fully charged, system.
**** you Sony.

Everybody should send an email to tarsier, because the lag and lading time are really terrible, specially the lag.

This sounds like a serious issue! Are you able to successfully replicate it, and if so, have you reported it on getsatisfaction.com?

Trust me, the lag and loading-time issues are already being looked into

It is and I am not able to replicate it. It's random.
I first noticed it when I started using the create feature in SoundShapes- so I went online- used google- and read that it was system related and not related to the game.

It sucked then but sucks even more now that loading can take a lifetime.
Maybe it has something to do with the system overheating?
