Well i've played this ALOT at one point so i know the ins and outs of it.

Basically your a regular soldier. You can choose your equipment (clothes and weapons). The modes are:

Deathmatch - Where you just kill anyone and everyone
Team Deathmatch - Same principal as Deathmatch but with 2 teams.
Base - Where 2 teams fight to secure numerous bases placed across the map.
Capture - Where 2 teams fight to get this 'toy frog' (Ketoran - it's just an object) to bring it back to their base and secure it.
Rescue - Where 1 team defends the ketoran and the other team has to steal it.
Sneaking - This is where Snake comes in. It's basically team deathmatch. However a random player is assigned as Snake. Snake is given 2 Tranq guns (a handgun and a sniper one), an M4, a Pistol, all grenade types, a radar, magazines, and most importantly his Octocamo suit so he can blend in with his surroundings. As Snake you have to knowck people out and steal their dog tags. If they're dead you can't do this - so you have to be sneaky. it can be quite difficult!
Team Sneaking - 2 teams. 1 team is given a weapon of their choice and they have to protect the ketoran. Another team is given Stealth Camo (which makes them invisible), however this team only has tranq guns, grenades, magazines and their knife. If the enemy shoots you your stealth stops working for a bit. If this happens your pretty much doomed as they'll kill you. So the team with Stealth HAVE to be sneaky! The team with Stealth have to steal the ketoran - or kill all the enemies.

There is a pretty harsh leveling up system - where the average level is about 3 to 4. i'm 4. If you've played Call of Duty 4 online you will find this very slow at first. (they run quite slow it seems). However the more you play the more addictive it gets. It's the most strategical online game there is i think, as you can use all sorts of tricks.

A good one is placing a magazine in a corridor and hiding round the corner. when the enemy passes they are forced to kneel down and flick through the magazine. giving you an easy kill!
Or you can go old school and hide in a cardboard box... wait for them to pass them shoot their back!

One time i owned these three people.... i was hiding in a box near an unnocupied box (so i wouldn't stand out as much).... and three people were passing... The front one had a sheild.... and the two back ones were clearing the area. One of them started to shoot the other empty box... then roll into it to break it. They were literally making sure nothing is around. So i knew i was next so flicked out of my box, shot the guy checking box's in the head, then killed the other guy who was clearing the area, then turned round and shot the guy with the sheild in the back of the head (as he had already passed me). 3 kills instantly - was awesome!

Hope this helps

yeah in SNE (Sneak) mode you can be snake or mk.II and you can be invisible.

In general its pretty fun, but its a massive headshot fest. If your not too good you'll get really stressed.

Very true. but theres a beginner specific board so definatly start in there. It is alot easier in there to be honest. The most frstrating thing in the game though is when people spawn camp - and/or run up to you and shotgun you. grrrr i hate shotguns!! so i always give them a taste of their own medicine haha!

1. Yep - you can get all of them and play dead. though people will shoot you anyway so its not clever.

2. No. There are levels, but it's based on performance. Not how much you've done like CoD4.

3. I prefer Sneaking. I love Team Deathmatch and playing as snake on the one off is great.

4. Yes, the more camo you have, the more you actually go invisible (see through). Just make sure you're in the shade or they'll see your shadow!

It depends. At one point i prefered MGS4 easily. Then when i stopped playing for a while and went to CoD4 i now prefer that. But i know when i start playing MGS4 again i'll prefer that again. Basically they're very different and not really comparable. CoD4 is just run and gun, not too strategic (though you can be ofcourse). And also not much teamwork.

In MGS4 teamwork is a BIG factor, and it's easier to do this because of the great communication system. More strategic too.

Playing dead puts you in a recognisable pose that most people will notice you as playing dead. Its worked for me before a few times though.

SoP is fun, ESPECIALY when you put one of them bombs in their base - It turns theyre whole team into zombies.

Oh yeah sorry forgot to answer playing dead.

Well you can lie down and make a 'dead body' position... however if someone points their gun at you - a little bar with your life will appear and they'll shoot and kill you. However you may get away with it on the Rare occasion. Dead bodies dissapear fairly quickly so thats why it doesn't work too well.

And for the communication... in game you press select. Then from here you get 4 choices you choose from the D-Pad. These include: Attack, Defense, Communication, Acknowledgments. From choosing this you get 4 more choices. For example - in Defense you may have 'Back Me Up!', 'Enemy Located!', 'I'm under fire! Enemy position unkown!' and 'Follow Me!'.

Theres also a system called SOP. If you're near a player and salute them you will always be able to see where they are (even through walls), where they are aiming, and when they are dead/knocked out a line will point to them so you can help them.

It's very very fun when you get into it. And there are so many sneaky tactics you can use. Be creative!

When snipering on a rooftop - it's always good to place magazines on the stairs to the roof so you can catch them out. When you hear them go 'ooooh!' to the magazine run round and kill them

haha hell yeah. Towards the end i just used the ************* method where you hide behind a wall until someone is just about to get to the corner - then pop out and head shot them. Used it against spawn campers

EDIT:

haha yea but how many mags u get

You get 3 - but if you run out just go back to base and pick up more

And boxes work fantastically - always hide next to other boxes to make it less suspicious. Barrels work great too if you can find one. you always start with a box though

OOPS i double posted at first lol.

no - you can also hold them up. sneak up to them and aim your gun at them. you'll automatically say 'freeze!'. You can then do a body check and grab any items/thei dog tag

I HIGHLY recommend playing a good bit of 1 player campaign to get the controlls nailed before going online

not really - i'm not a fan of them. however i have played them and if you enjpy those kind of games they are very fun. it's tense!

OH and i forgot a whole new aspect!

Theres these points called Reward Points (RP). RP can be spent on additional clothes, with all sorts of colours. You can only earn RP on Friday, Saturday or Sunday between 6 and 10. between these hours, there is a mode called SURVIVAL MODE. basically you get into teams (friends or randoms) and go against other teams. It can be very tense as when you win you get quite a few reward points. You also get some for entering too.
The clothes you earn are quite cool... because RED clothes cost ALOT. So if you see someone wearing red it means they are good. If you see someone wearing a Red Berret - that means they are awesome (or have just played it to death) as that costs 50000 reward points. You get 50 points for losing a round. Can't remember for winning - something like 100 and it increases with every next win.

No it uses all the different modes except sneaking i think. When reward points are on the line the whole atmosphere changes and people try really hard - it's great! though you don't want to let your team down so you feel a tad pressured .

Well you'll be bringing them down a bit yeah. It's all about the team effort. So teamwork is the key.
I suggest doing normal online a fair bit before going to this so you have the jist of the game modes and levels.

Playing dead is good if you're playing against stupid people.

I was playing dead on a cap point once, the other guy came along looked around and ran off again. Meanwhile I was still capping that point.
