That was soooooooooooome time ago.

I say let's step up the game, keep up with time
Can we realize a poster with all the active and storic members of the WHOLE Community?
So, not only Central, I hope the other fansites will join this project too

In the spirit of Community love and integration.
At the moment it's still an idea that will require LOADS of time and resources.
But I would love to hear what people think.
I'll contact even the other forums amins and md and see how we can arrange the things.
I will keep this post updated!

The project has been feature on PocketMoonPodcast #29 so I hope it will get more exposure

Sackomedia and Planetarium are onboard so far
No uploading pics at the moment, this thread is just for planning, recruiting "workforce" LOL
We will open a thread for uploading as soon as we have everything in place to start working

We need to find first people that will take care of editing the submitted pics: basically the work is removing the white backgrond and save the pics without background in .png files
So applies are open, obviously I want a prove that "you" are able to remove backgrounds, so I will consider the application of people that will post here 3 (three) pics of sackperson with a white background and 3 .png files without background.
I don't set a limit of people because we might need to work on hundred/thousand pics and it takes time.

One idea could be creating a level just to pose to take the pic, with a white background, set illumination and camera position, then upload it to LBP.me and everything should be easier

I'd be happy to cut out and process people's sackpeople. Perhaps an admin could set up a dropbox or two? That way, everyone taking part can email their sackpeople to the first dropbox (all one address, and everyone working on the project can access it), we make sure they're identical in size, cut them out, clean them up, and email them to the SECOND dropbox for whoever is working on the final project?

well, you need photoshop or Gimps, but don't worry, I appreciate your support.

You can spread voice with your friends when this will go full throttle.
For experience I can say that some people will be a bit reluctant (it happened with the other poster) so we need enthusiast people bridging this little gap, OK?

I think this'd be fun.

I'll volunteer to render some the images posted, however, might I suggest, instead of asking people to use a white background, just advise people to use a colour that contrasts with their Sackperson. The best way I'd advice doing this is to create a platform and backing out of Neon, set to 30% or 40% brightness. Enough to stand out as a bold colour, but not bright enough to blur the photo.

I'm not rendering 3 Sackpeople right now, though. If you'll take my word for it, I'm a college student who's been using Photoshop and various other image creation/panipulation programs for around 3 or 4 years now. I used GIMP even earlier than that, but I wouldn't recommend it for doing something like this. GIMPs' selection tools seem to have a hard time achieving the same neat and tidy selection borders that Photoshop can.
If you won't take my word that I have PS and know how to use it, I'll go take some photo's and render them at some point later tonight.

As I said we can maybe make a photo booth so that we can have all the pics with the same setting and RGB output.
Yeah, maybe we can make a level with 5-6 "rooms" with different colours so that everyone will have an easier life, both the editors and the subjects

I see you know what you're talking about, so I would skip the proof, but I have to ask it anyway to show fairness and possibly avoid some future complaints, I hope you understand

I could make that photobooth level for you, I would just need some schematics however. I could also work on some of those photo's but after what @Ostler5000 said I'm not sure if GIMP would be good enough for it, however I have dealt a lot with the resources on GIMP and it's pretty descent, but if I could afford it I would buy Photoshop in a heartbeat for this.

For the level I assume that it needs dialogue text aswell as 5-6 different colored rooms, or just a color changer for one room, and then tell everyone to upload it, correct?

Don't get me wrong, GIMP could definitely do this, there's just an ever so slightly noticable difference in quality. However, I suppose if we're scaling these images down after cropping them, odds are the slight difference will be completely unnoticable.

As for the photobooth, my thinking was to just create a flooring with a back wall out of Neon with the correct brightness setting and then instruct players to use that stage to take their photo's.
You could either set up multiple stages each a different colour, allowing players to pick the one with the best contrast, or, if you wanted to be really fancy, you could create the stage out of whatever material, and then layer multiple Sticker Panel stages over that. Then set it up so that players could toggle which colour Sticker Panel appears with the Triangle button. Other than that I don't think the level needs to be too specific.
Well, maybe a password system or something which allows us to distinguish forum goers from randoms?

Once the photo's are taken, they just upload them to the level and the Photoshopper's take care of the rest.

Let people take their own photographs, for the simple reason that Photobooth pictures have a tiny resolution.
I never understood why Photobooths took a much smaller image.

I have a functioning white display, that can change into about eight different solid colors by pressing triangle, as well as adjustable lighting for each color, including white (ex: white, gray, dark gray) by using the right stick and pushing left or right. A;; the level is right now is a solid black studio like place, with the photobooth being in the center of the level. I'm thinking of tying a similar theme to it as the LBPCentral Community pick levels, but a little more universal design involving every theme from each fansite. Or it could plainly be just the photobooth with some pointers as to what the level is all about. Overall it just needs some polishing right now.

I could make a copy of it and have somebody take a look at it if they need too.

Like, will people post their images in the thread, then 1 person splits all the images into an equal number, then we give each editor a group to work on, or are we just calling out 'I'll do the next 3 images' and so on?

Just curious how we plan to organise the editing process.

Example
Ostler does all the 0123...+A-D
Omega does E-H
Tynamite does I-M
and so on
so if the PSN ID is jwwphotos for example, Tynamite knows that it's his duty to edit it.

OR...someone might collect the pics from the various fansites, rename them with the PSN IDs and send them via mail via .zip file

But you're free to disagree with this method

We can talk about it and find the best way.

Don't see much enthusiasm and will to help from other fansites so far.
That's what keeps me from going full throttle.

If you guys need any assistance with background creation (for final picture/drafts), I'll definitely help you guys out with this. I also like Omega's idea with providing a preset level for taking the pictures in (hopefully Front View/front-facing camera would be required or implemented, makes editing easier if you guys haven't discussed it already

).

Anyway, looking forward to the final rendition. The last one was quite the work, and this one is bound to be enormous considering the huge community growth.

I do have a request for when we start taking pictures from everyone. Please, no moving Sackpeople or crazy backgrounds or color correction. Changing the background of a level may change the color correction/lighting and it will stand out (not in a good way). Also, I saw a Sackboy that was kind of blurry in the last picture project. So ... try to avoid those.

Yes, you are absolutely correct. The reason famouscustard's looks so much worse is that it was taken using a standard def video capture unit early on, as opposed to the much better-looking PSP Sackpeople that I captured using my HD PVR.

Speaking of that, if there are a few PSP people around that want to be involved and don't have access to either a PS3 or a Vita, I am happy to help out and capture those images. Just let me know what your costume items are (and what sections to find them in) and I'll take care of the rest.

We might have to consider a photobooth for the vita too, eventually.Absolutely. Just a quick note here: I would highly suggest you ask people to use Vita system screenshots (PS button + start) instead of using the in-game screenshot utility as they are higher resolution.

How do people get those screenshots from their Vitas to a computer? Easy! They can either tweet their picture or upload it to Flickr using the Flickr Vita app.

This works because A) you can't sticker or decorate costumes in LBP PSP and B) I have 100% of the DLC.

Also, I have a PVR, too. So if you need help Taffey, I will give you a handCapturing HD video out from a PSP is a tricky-ish thing. Apparently you can do it if you have a PSP 3000 but I've never really been able to confirm if it's truly HD or not. Domick12 has an "alternate" way of doing this that involves some kind of voodoo - I still have no idea exactly how.

But anyway, the only straightforward means I am aware of for capturing HD video out from a PSP is by using a PSP Go and a component out adapter (also for PSP Go). I have this hooked into my HD PVR and through a random collection of ratio and other video settings, I can get acceptable quality screen captures.

To summarize, it's a pain in the butt. Basically, if you're not me or Domick, your best bet is just to take a photograph of the screen.

Yeah, I believe you're supposed to wait for now. You are correct.
Unfortunately some others haven't really bothered to read the OP.

There are a few instances of people posting rendered pics to show that they have the tools to be involved in creating the project, and I think those posts are what are confusing some of the others into thinking we're currently taking on photo's for editing.

I'll wait until after I get a look at the photobooth, though, as there might be some useful screenshots to take from there.

Hoohoohoho~ My goodness it was hard to pick just 1 costume for this photo! :O ..While a lot of my costumes are actually just for my levels. but as a costume creator I do have many i like to run around in myself which means I have lots of main costumes I wear a lot that all are completely different because I have many interests & I'm not the type of person who runs around in the same type of thing all the time. that'd be boring.. So which meant I needed something I wear a lot from time to time and that showcases who I am and my interests fairly well..

The fortnight won't be active until we officially declare it active, however, people are more than welcome to commence taking and uploading pictures.

I dunno if we're gathering up the photo's from the various (To be created) fansite threads, or if we're just gathering the photo's from the LBP.me photo section.
I think if we just used LBP.me, it'd be easier, because then all the pics are in one place, and we can just name each submission based on PSN username.

What's This?
The Epic Group Photo is a project to create an enormous poster including as many players as possible!
Everyone takes a photo of their sackperson, we then cut it out and add it to the project!
LBPCentral already did this once before, but we want to try again, and this time, make it bigger!

How do I get involved?
All we need you to do is visit the Photobooth level created for the project! With a variety of background options, it's the perfect place to take a clear photo for us to edit! You don't have to use the provided photobooth facility, but we won't take any photos with backgrounds that the Sackperson does not stand out on.
You don't need to be well known, or a regular visitor or anything of the sort, if you want to be included, you are more than welcome!
Want to do more than just take a photo? We are still looking for people to help us cut the backgrounds out of the photos! Contact the EDCGP Crew on LittleBigPlanetCentral before the submission deadline to help out!

How do I submit my pic?
Simple! First, in-game, upload your photo to LBP.me, then post your picture in one of the EDCGP threads created on one of the major fansites. Please state your PSN ID, or your username, along with your photo, so we can identify you in the group photo.
Also, to make things easier for us, please only post in one of the fansite threads, not multiple.
You have one month to take your photo and send it in, before we gather up all the submissions.

One minor issue with the photo booth: I was trying to find a good arm pose and kept turning off the background light. At first I didn't even realise why it went black.

I seriously underestimated how long it'd take for me to put the poster together.

One minor suggestion... increase the size of the text boxes and make the text a bit larger.

Ok.. maybe two suggestions..?

..maybe a bit of a white backing shadow behind Definitive. ..or maybe make the gradient shade not go to complete black. Gets a bit lost towards the bottom.

Look at the sardine can wheel's/the sardine can in total, the imgur version looks worse because of the jpeg artifacts(the black on the wheel is most noticeable, then the By on the closest wheel, and the word sardines on top(but again not that noticeable, but still a difference))

No, I dunno how you took that pic, but it's tiny. It'll probably get scaled down, anyways, though.
However, we'd appreciate it if you just used the Photobooth level like everyone else, that way when it becomes time to collect them all up, your pic is with all the others on LBP.me.

I'm just thinking, is this exclusive to LBP2 players, or is there a Vita version or something?

Still working on it. Took me 3 hours and I've a lot left to do. DaSackboy, could you do me a favour and take some snapshots of the EDCGP logo with Front View, and a no background and whatever other photos could be potentially useful? I took a few in-level, but the BG has made rendering them a bit of a chore.

I've downloaded the LBPK fansite pack for it's fonts, so I'll be using those in the poster.

Forgot to mention, DaSackboy, I was expecting a nice Photobooth level, but you really went above and beyond expectation. Excellent work.

(Particularly the shadows on the ponytails.) You'd have been better with something green or yellow or something else because neither of those colours are present in your costume.

Being one who works in the commercial art/design department, there's no pet peeve of mine I find worse than seeing blending elements when they shouldn't be! D: So I couldn't agree any more. Please people, use backgrounds that set your character apart.

Guys, pick colors that are not on your sackboy, most contrast color from your sackboy possible and don't pick white or black (or else you so colorful that you don't have any other option). This will let your sackboy be cut a lot easier

Ok here my hints how to do best pictures

-Contrasty solid color background, not white or black if possible (as said above)
-Make your picture as small as possible but the way that you sackboy does fit in borderies of picture, the bigger sackboy is on picture the more pixel it has = better quality of end result after editing.
-Set lightning tweaks to night, in day there a nasty fog that wash out the colors, specially black and dark colors, making them look nusty

I pick purple because it doesn't exit on my sackboy, only problem would be bird on top that is red which is close to purple but with good editing it should be fine.

Remember that the photobooth also lets you change the brightness of the background, so if your costume is literally a rainbow, you can just adjust the brightness some so the colors are no longer the same. It's simply about making the background easily removable in editing, so having it the negative color of your costume is much appreciated.

We haven't started editing yet, nor have we even announced the time period for submissions. (However, people are welcome to dump their stuff in here well ahead of us officially starting.)
Current plan is that we'll go interforumal (Har, made up words.) after Xmas, give everyone one months notice to submit their stuff, then we round up all the photos from all the fansite threads, then we issue files to each of the editors, roughly proportionate to how much they can get through, then they all send their edited photos to one last guy, who sticks every rendered costume in one big poster.
Then profit.

Sounds like something anyone could probably do single-handedly in a week, but we have no way of knowing exactly how many photos we'll get

Just an idea, make a larger version of the picture with a high resolution, and provide a Zoom.it (http://www.zoom.it) URL to allow users to zoom in on it. It would be very helpful for names of players. If this hasn't been suggested yet.

There ya go. I took three pictures, but this one was the best. I have an epic Finger Hat of Doom that my sackboy occasionally wears, but I decided to go casual this time. This is actually my cross-LBP meta-costume, ie. I wear it 90% of time in both LBP2 and LBPK. Hat, specs, tash, scarf, circus coat, spotty boxers, wellies, Zen-like expression of brainless calm. Brainless calm comes in handy for kart races...

Hello, weirdy here again. I failed to post the image in the thread properly, because I suck. I hope the image link is okay, though. Also I realise that my sackboy's skin is mainly green on a greenish backdrop, but the costume is mainly red, so hopefully that's okay. If not, just hit me with a wok and I'll do it again. I'll even provide my own wok. Here. *hands it over*
