About bringing DLC over...

Archive: 20 posts

Ok, a little context:

when i first made my psn account i needed a master account. i do not use this master account for my vita, but a majority of my dlc was downloaded there. (This is due to the fact that when purchasing dlc, the master account keeps track of money, so i knew exactly how much was there and left after purchase).

I noticed that w/ ps1 games, you can't transfer games that aren't from your account (even if it's from the master account associated w/ your account)

So I was kinda wondering how the cross-dlc thing will work... Or rather, am i out of luck since my dlc is on a master account?

My guess is that you need your master account for the vita so dlc can transfer to it. im sure you won't use the ps3. i think it would go through the server and go " Oh you played lbp ps3 games? let me bring your dlc costumes here! " but you know... doesn't actully say that but probably a question that said "transfer your ps3 dlc to vita?" and would go through the server and find you and then bring the dlc here.

you understand what im trying to say? XD

I'm kinda curious about the whole DLC transfer thing too. How do you even transfer in the first place?2012-09-18 23:13:00

Probably won't be an actual transfer just the ability to download the content you bought perviously either through the LBPV in game store or via the normal storefront on Vita.

As for the different account thing you may have messed things up for yourself.

Just kinda sucks that 4 years of getting over 150$ of dlc, being known through a sub account, and using a sub account for vita for a few months would cause that 150$ of dlc i bought to not work...

it just seems unfair. I mean, you can't see and manage money on the sub account (if you could i would have bought on the sub rather than the master) so i bought it on the master.

If i can't use that dlc, there is going to be big problems. My creation group had huge plans, but those plans might die if i can't get that dlc...

Gahh... i hate this 1 account per vita/memory card/ other stuff.... its more pain than anything... I mean, why can't stuff from a master account (that is linked to the sub) be transferred over?

Can't you buy another memory card and start the game again on your master account? It might be expensive but not as expensive as buying all that DLC again.

Kinda illogical. If i get a new memory card, and transfer all the files to it, the memory card will be locked to the master account. I still won't be able to use it on my actual account. I can't do that, and I can't re-buy all that dlc (i refuse... i mean, COME ON!)

I dont see a problem on this One should only be able to download stuff to the account that paid for it. It's not Sonys fault you use a sub account. It's either use the main account on Vita or rebuy dlc. Its fair and helps proctect from dlc theft. Is there a reason why you can't use the main account on the Vita?2012-09-19 15:36:00

Why did you decide to have seperate accounts for purchasing and playing?2012-09-19 15:48:00

Well, you see, there in lies the problem. A sub account is linked to a master account, the master account is tied to funds (you actually can't add funds to a sub account). It is fair that different masters had to buy different dlc, but sub accounts that can't manage funds should be exempt from this rule. And I can't use the main account on my vita b/c if i were to try i would have to factory reset everything and my memory card, re add in my friends, and do all this stuff on an account that is technically not really "mine", but a family member's...

When i first made the account, I was well underaged. The master account is not actually mine, but a family member's. So, i use this account as mine, and he uses the master as his. I just bought the dlc on his account so that i could manage the funds during transaction. It's too late now I suppose...

Either that famil member will need to trust you with master account or your going to have to rebuy everything. Not sure if it will work there is alway the possiblity of dling to ps3 then pluging up vita to PS3 is Vita remotely register with the master account on PS3 or with sub account. If you can link the vita with your sub account to PS3 master account that might allow the dlc transfer

You might already know this by now... But when you download any DLC from the PS3 store, it will download a vita version with it, ready for you to "install"..

I think this means that you can take this data, and transfer it across to a vita. So maybe, log in to the master account on PS3, re-download all the dlc, and transfer the vita data accross. I haven't used this method, nor do I know if it will work with this sub-account system you are using, but I imagine this is the way around your problem.

I'm not sure if LBP will be the same as this but...
My brother holds the master account on the PS3. Usually I'd go onto his and add funds and buy stuff on my account. However in the excitement of getting the vita, I forgot this when I got Sound Shapes. I bought it on his account. I could NOT download it to the vita as the vita is under my account.
In the end I bought it on my one (?10), but this does raise mailbox's concerns for LBP DLC as some has been downloaded on the master account and some not.

Is there anyway to change my account to the master account?

My guess is Tuesday when the game is released digitally.

There will be a new patch that will allow you to DL your ps3 costumes through your download list through the vita's PS store.

Should have just stuck with one account. I don't see how anything here is unfair. You can't just transfer content from one account to the other like that. Best you can do is gameshare the content, but that won't work with Vitas. So... you're essentially blown lol. Why'd you link your PS Vita to your master account if none of your dlc was on that?!2012-09-23 23:14:00

Are you talking about 1.17? If so, that came out a few days ago.

Nah I think he's talking about a patch for LBP Vita, not LBP2. There shoudl be a patch that allows you to use the VITA'S store to download the costumes.

Anyone else notice there's no DLC section in the PS Store for vita?
