Vita battery draining when suspending LBPV.

Archive: 13 posts

So this has happened to me two days in a row. I was in create mode going through the tutorials and hit the power button to suspend the Vita. The first time I came back to find my system completely dead with no juice left. Today, with a fully charged vita and only running LPBV for 15 minutes, I was at low battery after about 5 hours. I have not had single issue like this with any other game. This includes demos I would suspend mid action.

Has anyone else seen this?

Has anyone else seen this? Its not just LBPV. Its how the console works. It drains battery even if you put it in standby mode.

And did you press the PS button to really pause the game? I think you should if you don't want it to drain battery,I see no reason to leave the game open and running while not playing it,I think it definitely takes battery even if your not playing.2012-09-17 23:10:00

As I said I have been using my Vita a while now with other games and have not had a single issue with it depleting so fast. But I will try using the PS button in the future.

PSP battery lasted weeks in sleep mode, my Vita only lasts a day or two, I've gotten into the habit of turning it off.2012-09-18 00:09:00

It's very not healthy for the Vita to be played while charging.

I just purchased another USB cable and AC brick for the office. That should take care of that. = )2012-09-18 01:46:00

When you play while charging your battery gets VERY hot,That's not healthy,And i read somewhere a while ago that Sony advised users not to play games on they're Vita's while charging.

If you can find the Sony statement I'd love to read it, there's lots of people speculating on what is and is not good for the battery. I used my PSP while charging all the time, of course the battery could also be easily replaced.

I'm happy to report that with the Nyko power grip battery life is no longer an issue for me. I prefer not being shackled to an outlet, and now I have plenty of battery to get through the day and can charge overnight.

I was able to nail down what was draining my battery in suspend mode and why it only happened in LBPV. The issue was that the vita was connected to an open network that required web authentication. So to LBPV it appeared as if it was connected to the internet even though it could not actually connecting to the PSN network. But I guess it just kept trying over and over again. I didn't have the issue with my other games due to their network connections being restricted to multiplayer. Once I disabled wireless I was able to suspend the game for the entire day with no loss of battery.2012-09-20 19:48:00
