Welcome one and all to the latest batch of freshly baked levels, hot from the Level Showcase, each one good enough to eat...sorry, must have been hanging around with Hubbie too much! Anyway, there?s a distinct feel of Autumn in the air in this Episode and even our first Halloween level of the season! So banish those back to school blues by booting up your PS3 and getting playing. Be sure to check out the nods too, as there are some real gems in that list.

Finally, a quick note that we are still accepting applications to join the Spotlight Crew so anyone who might be interested should pop over to this thread (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=34069-Community-Spotlight-Now-Hiring!) and check out the details.

Without further ado, on with the Spotlight:

PS3 Spotlight

http://i7.lbp.me/img/bl/4f7ec20f9d051ce8b4b58b85de79433f57267a2c.pngThe ride autumnSnakeOwlYou can feel season of Autumn. I recommended night mode. 秋の雰囲気で鑑賞要素も入れました。ステッカーセンサーでナイトモードもお楽しみいただけます 。 Special thanks @chaosgear, Music @Velvet--Audio, Food @keisama777, Moon @Stellakris
Ahh, it's that special time of year. Cooler air is moving in, the leaves are changing colors and getting ready to fall, squirrels are storing nuts and zombies are stirring in their graves. Ok, maybe not that last one, but this new level from Snakeowl certainly has plenty of the other elements of the Autumn season. He's done an excellent job with capturing this mood through beautiful scenery and tons of detail. Of course this wouldn't be a SnakeOwl level without great gameplay incorporated into the environment and a load of secret points to locate as well. So wash off that summertime sweat and enjoy your Autumn Ride.If all the stress of returning to school is already getting you down, then Snakeowl has the perfect remedy. Breathe. Sit back, relax. Listen as the plinky-plunky music takes you away to a land of burnt umber foliage and watchful Ravens. Where tree branches gently guide you to your destination, with the occasional stop at an idyllic photograph opportunity or simple yet satisfying puzzle... Erm, sorry about that, I think I had an outer body experience there for a moment! SnakeOwl is one of those consistently good creators; he has an unfailing knack for combining cool gameplay with pretty visuals to produce levels that are simply a pleasure to play. This one is no exception. It shows off the Autumn pack to great advantage as you journey through a rocky landscape filled with glorious colours and quaint buildings, your footsteps dogged throughout by slightly sinister crows. The mood is relaxing and there are some fun encounters along the way including Avalon moonlighting as a barman (bet he makes a great cocktail!). As ever SnakeOwl comes up with some interesting gameplay: some neat jetpack obstacles and a night-time mode which transforms the level into something altogether more eerie. A level which will put you in the mood for roast chestnuts, long walks in the woods and frosty nights.

http://i8.lbp.me/img/bl/ea88b465d1712562dcb906c3e1849cd0ccd1e21f.pngLUMINE S: Ragtime Symphony V3.00 [1 Player]Robo_RangerUse the symbols (circle, square, etc.) to rotate block. Use D-Pad to move. Try to make 2x2 squares to score points! V3.00 features a massive performance improvement.
Everyday I am amazed in some new way in Little Big Planet. Take this level for example. Having never seen the actual Lumines game, I didn't know what this could be about or what to expect. Actually, I misread "Lumines" as "Lemmings" and thought it was a "save the sackbots" level. I was pleasantly surprised to find to see a neat little puzzle game instead. The premise is simple enough, as differently colored blocks fall from the top, you have to maneuver them left or right and rotate them so as to match up the colors to the already fallen blocks, thus destroying them before they can build themselves to the top. Be quick though, for in the beginning it's quite easy but as time progresses, so does the rate at which they fall and once they reach the top, it's game over buddy. Something fruity is going on... One second, sorry guys. I need to check my XMB screen... Oh wait. I am still in LBP2... No! No that can?t be right... Oh wait, there?s my sackgirl, waving at me. But, this looks just like LUMINES! it plays just. Like. LUMINES! I?m stumped. I don't know what to say... If you like LUMINES - check this out!

http://i0.lbp.me/img/bl/760295348d2914c78501bf817c3549a29ca8653e.pngSavage PlanetElvenbaneA Spaceman Spiff Adventure. * Spiff not included. No flying saucers were harmed in the making of this level.
I quite literally fell off my couch when I loaded this level, alright, it was mainly because I miscalculated the distance from my rear to the seat but that's beside the point. I can't tell you how long I have waited for this level. I first saw this locked level on FullofWin/Elvenbane's Earth ages ago and was immediately intrigued by the title. I bugged him a couple of times about it and was politely told that I'd just have to wait. The wait was worth it. The level is based off of my favorite comic strip chararacter's alter ego..Spaceman Spiff. as the story opens, our intrepid hero is nearly in the clutches of fiendish aliens and after a battle, finds himself crash landed on some lone planet. We quickly learn why it's called, "Savage Planet." The terrain is gorgeous but oh so unforgiving and the creatures that inhabit this world would like nothing better than to have you for lunch! The gameplay is phenomenal and the scenery so unbelievable, you'll be drooling all over your controller. Get ready for an adventure like none other as you try and tame...The Savage Planet! TL;DR It's awesome, play it!We are reaching a point where something must be done. Something has to prevent this man fro making another awesome level, or my skull may very well be in danger. I'm serious now, this is too much! ...... Well no, no it's not too much, it's just right. I just have to face it, every time Elvenbane brings out a new level, I should just prepare the altar to worship the ground he walks upon. And what barren, treacherous soil it is too! The thing that drew me to this level to begin with was the wonderful comic style introduction. It's quite a difference from many of the levels we've seen lately. Couple this style with stonkingly wonderful (as usual) visuals, thumb-breaking puzzles and more than a handful of "a-HA!" moments, and you end up with this wonderful creation. Get off your behind and go play it!
This might be my favorite of Elvenbane?s levels to date. This ambitious masterpiece brings together snippets of many different genres, neatly wrapped up in a gorgeous environment and an amazing comic book-style, b&w cinematic. The plot is pretty straightforward: you?re marooned on an alien world and facing some tough puzzles as you search for a way off, all the while eluding the giant killer worm that?s hot on your trail! This isn?t the easiest level to get through, but it's so worth trying! From the minute this level kicks off with its wonderful comic book style opening you know you are in for a treat. You?ve embarked on an adventure through gorgeously coloured and detailed alien landscapes peopled (!?!) with Elvenbane?s amazing creatures: stunningly articulated dinosaurs and a giant worm with distinctly Terminator-like tendencies. The imaginative and quirky gameplay keeps you guessing and challenges both your brain and your gaming skills. So, if like me, you suck at shooting asteroids, you can still scrape together a decent score by finding the cunningly hidden secrets. The passion which has gone into crafting every aspect of this level just shines though. It's supremely engaging, funny and a feast for the eyes. Levels like this are a joy to play and worth any amount of waiting for!

http://i1.lbp.me/img/bl/4a18d8dbf0e446edb971c8d1d2e37b5961b377e8.pngAtomic Fortress P-I-M-P-IEnter in this radioactive fortress, where long time ago it was used to do dangerous tests with animals. Credits: RacingCreed, deadmn and swat1492. (1 Player recommended due to lag).
"Wait... so you're telling me that this sucker is nuclear?" This level sure is a glowing (heh) example of how to make a stage ooze and flow from one part to the next. Short stops to get your breath, and brush off some isotopes, with a clear view of the next section to come. Grab a hazmat suit and get contaminated by the speed and fluidity of this fortress! What I love most about P-I-M-P-I?s level?s is the incredible amount of detail to behold while playing them - every corner is absolutely bursting with great visuals. This one is no exception, but it's not only pretty to watch... the gameplay is equally refined. Step into the nuclear wasteland and hope that you make it out in one piece!

http://ia.lbp.me/img/bl/0caf667076b529165ebc481d1e26521b7de65361.pngHallow een Night Mansion (platformer)yu-kamoneWelcome to my mansion. It is Halloween tonight. Ghosts are waiting for the visitor. Let`s enjoy Halloween! (1~4player) ようこそ私の豪邸へ。今宵はハロウィン、幽霊たちも客人が訪れるのを今か今かと待ちわびています。さぁ、ハ ロウィンを楽しみましょ? Music by @Taxok20 Picture by @my friends
I can hardly believe that Halloween is nearly here again. Seems like yesterday we spotlighted a slew of spooky levels. This year yu-kamone is getting a head start and what a start it is! Wow! It's going to be tough to top this "Fan-dang-tastic" level. Head into this spooky mansion that is packed to the rafters with all of the tropes of the holiday, like Jack O' Lanterns, ghosts, scarecrows, witches, skeletons, you name it it's got it. And the gameplay! My goodness is it just as equally "fan-dang-tastic!" Run, jump, swing and bounce your way through this eerie Mansion while avoiding those creatures of the night and looking for those hidden extra points. You're guaranteed a great time when you go trick or treating at the Halloween Night Mansion.Okay, maybe it's a little early to break into full Halloween Celebration yet, but I still urge you to go check this level out. Between the detailed, funky visuals, eye-popping original artwork, steady platforming and beautifully themed music, it?ll get you in the mood for trick-or-treating for sure! You know what, I?ll give you one reason. Trust me now, this is a deal-breaker. You ready for it? Okay.... It has cane-twirling ghosts, who wear top hats. There, I've said enough! Now go and enjoy This stunning level was an early Halloween treat for me, bringing back lots of memories of the Haunted Mansion at Disney. Like the aforementioned park ride, there?s almost too much to see in this level... you might have a few times to take everything in. As you trek through a creepy mansion, be on the lookout for some giant ghostly inhabitants. This is perfect way to ring in the fall season...be sure to check it out!

Also from the Showcase...
Played everything in the Spotlight and still looking for more?
These levels stand out from the crowd for a variety of reasons, so be sure to check them out!

Yuppers, some great stuff in here (like always) I sure hope people can tear themselves away from other errr... LBP related games to support the creators. It sure is tricky I know, but well worth the time!2012-09-17 09:43:00

Wow yet again ANOTHER SnakeOwl level, Maybe if the crew put the SPOTLIGHT on some unknown creators instead of ones people know about already, He hardly needs the extra exposure, What happened to equality ?.

Might I suggest a name change to something along the lines of the SnakeOwl spotlight or perhaps the SnakeOwl hub.

Yes I'm being sarcastic, However I'm not even joking now its gotten beyond the joke, Time was I'd come here eagerly waiting for the next spotlight for 2 reasons, 1 to see if I'd be in it I'm far from a great creator but I do try, 2 to play some awesome levels from some LESSER KNOWN CREATORS not those with umpteenth spotlights already and Mm picks, At-least the people at littlebigplanetarium give unknown creators a chance.

I guess people don't like to read or listen to the rules, but we only play levels posted in the Level Showcase here on the site for consideration for the Spotlight, so if you know of other creators you'd like us to consider, please feel free to ask them to post their stuff here - it's got nothing to do with how well known anyone is or not.

Thanks folks, it's particularly gratifying to have Savage Planet spotlighted and to see the positive response from players.

It's hard to believe but I started this level over a year ago and then abandoned it to create 2 other levels. I?m happy to have finally dusted off its crater and finished it!

I deleted my comment earlier because it was pretty whiny. While I'm surprised my level wasn't spotlighted, I still respect the decision. I'm just curious why though as it brought tons of new ideas and polish to boot, at least moreso than a few of the levels. To be honest, I find myself disagreeing more and more with the crew's decisions on levels. Maybe that's why I applied: I think the crew needs to be a bit more diverse (as in terms of tastes) than it is at the moment.

(I can understand why Bedtime Fantasies wasn't though. Insane difficulty is a no-no apparently.)

I'd love to know who/if any of the spotlight crew actually played a level I posted in the Showcase, Yes it's nothing spectacular but still, Guess it got overlooked because I'm not well known, But hey this isn't about me.

I am well aware of the rules and such of the goings on of the site I did sign up 3years ago. But yeah sure I'll go online later and try to send a few Unknowns here to post levels, See if they get overlooked too.

That's untrue, and frankly insulting.

We spotlight plenty of creators that we've never heard of. If it gets posted here, we play it and cast a vote...that's all there is to the process.

Bottom line is: if you're tired of seeing the same creators over and over, than perhaps instead of posting insulting comments here, you might help out by rallying to get new or unknown creators to come and share their work instead of relying on us to do EVERYTHING for you.

Hey now I did not come here to insult anybody, I wanted to make a valid point or rather a few condensed valid points, So if you feel insulted I do apologize as that was not my intention, If it's ok to ask who are the spotlight crew just out of curiosity ?

About the "seeing the same creators over and over" I will repeat what I said earlier about equality, I am sure said creators who are spotlighted over and over again are not the only people who post in the Level Showcase.

Edit: That thing you say about me helping out, I feel just a little insulted maybe I mistook that as meaning I am somewhat inept ?, I am hardly asking the spotlight crew to go out of their way, Just mearly making a few points about things.

Let's not spark a debate there, mah boi, it attracts the wildebeests. The crew works hard to play everyone's levels, and they spotlight the ones that deserve it the most. Nothing personal against anybody. Don't be a Squidward. Nobody likes a Squidward. If you want your level to get spotlighted, it's not just the level that should look nice, it's the thread. Add pictures and colors, 'cause everyone luvz pikshurs an colurs. Don't make it seizuretastic though. Make it perrty, otherwise it's like reading a newspaper that's been soaking in a bucket of turds all day. It could be the best newspaper article in the universe, but if it doesn't catch anyone's attention, it's just a sad, sad little toilet paper.

Also, thank you for another spotlight. I kind of ran out of similes, but I'll have one, like, next time. I've been eating too many ginger snaps.

Ahahahahahaha, you're a pretty funny guy. Love the picture you left on the hub. Good job, great camera angle. Don't know that I would've used those stickers though, but oh well. Guess we better change the rules of the spotlight. Only unknown creators are allowed to advertise their levels in the showcase for now on. So no more promoting your levels here Just_tom, Bikerider, Snakeowl, Shookie, Kaiju_kid, Alleycat, Julseyjules, Yu-kamone, Pirmaut, Rodrigo, Mnniska, Z101990, Notorious187, SlurmsMcKenzie, Rialrees, CompherMC, L1ghtmare, Dancingbabystar, Theretrogamer, Jakeinator, Acanimate and a host of others that I'm forgetting. You all are no longer allowed here. Only people with 0 to lets say 100 plays are allowed to post in the showcase! Oh and for your information Mr. Funny guy, the last Snakeowl level to be Spotlighted was back in Episode 91...6 weeks ago! You act like it's every friggin episode. Get off it. If it sounds like I'm irate, it's because I am! And as far as the Planetarium comment, why don't you take a look at the Creme of the Crops. The ratio of Known to Unknown creators featured is about the same as the spotlights.

This is NOT true. The spotlight crew does not judge your level based on your thread. I don't care what your thread looks like. Just post a link and that's all for all I care. I do tell people to pretty it up to better "sell" the level to other forum readers. But no, we do NOT take into consideration how crappy your thread looks. We just look at the level.

@bonner will PM you later. You may have to remind me.

Robo_Ranger's LUMINES level had been played under 100 times before spotlighting. By most people's standards, that qualifies as lesser known.

Some weeks are quiet, some not so much. This past two weeks just happened to see lots more well known creators publish, and publish some darned good levels to boot. No conspiracy involved.

-----

bonner, i'll leave it to biorogue to have a chat with you on behalf of the crew - save you drowning in pms

-----

On a lighter note, congrats to everyone featured, whether you received a full spotlight, or an honourable mention! I had a blast playing all your creations

You are basically asking great creators to stop creating great levels, which is just silly.

At-least the people at littlebigplanetarium give unknown creators a chance. And yet here you are, complaining.

Hey now I did not come here to insult anybodyToo late.

I am hardly asking the spotlight crew to go out of their way, Just mearly making a few points about things. This is neither the time nor the place for this conversation, and as of this response it is over. We can continue this via PM if you like, or you are welcome to create a thread in one of the General Chat or Everything Else forums.

I'd love to know who/if any of the spotlight crew actually played a level I posted in the Showcase, Yes it's nothing spectacular but still, Guess it got overlooked because I'm not well known, But hey this isn't about me..

Although we try to avoid these types of discussions as they can become pretty personal about a persons hard work I am happy to say that I did play your level.

While the concept was interesting, I couldn't get into it. The tank controls made the turns around the snooker queues more difficult than they needed to be, and the weight of the actual balls seemed a bit off. So it was sort of like 'Do I race or do I come to a complete stop and try to pot the billiard balls?"

As I mentioned, I think that if this idea was explored more, it could be pretty fun, but perhaps LBPK would be a better medium for it in the future

Please, keep posting your levels, and encourage the creators of levels that you find amazing to do the same.

Congrats everyone who got spotlighted! The only level I've played so far is "savage planet", but I played it about 30 times.... Does that count?

I'm especially glad to see Savage Planet do well. Elvenbane showed it to me o LONG time ago. The visuals and style blew me away, but there were problem areas. I'm happy to say everything came together nicely, and it's become one of my favorite experiences this year.

Great job everyone! Got some gaddin' to do!

You guys do a tremendous job playing EVERY new level that is posted on here. To suggest the stature of a creator determines a spotlight is well wide of the mark. im sure that if a level is good enough it will receive a spotlight whether the creator is well known or not.

ps - thanks for the honourable mention

This is NOT true. The spotlight crew does not judge your level based on your thread. I don't care what your thread looks like. Just post a link and that's all for all I care. I do tell people to pretty it up to better "sell" the level to other forum readers. But no, we do NOT take into consideration how crappy your thread looks. We just look at the level.

WHOOPS.

Imma learnin,.

But I have a question that I'm too lazy to go over and figure out myself: Does the Nodinater/Nodinater/Nodinatneadfadf run on a randomizer or a selector of some sort? Just asking, cause I had a couple of levels in there in previous spotlights and could, like, never find it.

Fusion made the nodinator, and his excellent logic is just too far out of my realm of understanding....

I THINK it displays levels with less plays more often, or some such wizardry.... will give him a heads up to pop over here and explain it

The Nodinator spawns the random logic when the player steps on the button, so the randomness comes from how long it takes the player to get to and then jump on the button. Every jump actually destroys the random chip and then makes a new one.

It can be weighted to favor spawining levels with less plays, this isn't always activated, as the logic is highly experimental and I did warn Hubbie about breaking the Wonderplain

Fusion Industries had a more advanced machine called the hub-e-mattic but it seems to have gone missing recently. I'm not sure what happened to it, but there was a lot of cookie crumbs in the area.
