What sort of material would you like to see?

Archive: 35 posts

And they can be decorative but it's better to here about one that has a point.

Just designate what class of matter they would be put in like (M) for metal, (Sp) for sponge, (C) for cardboard, (G) for glass, (St) for stone, (H) for hazard, and (+) for the peculiar ones. I've got a few.

(H)Gelatin: A wobbly substance that can swallow you whole and slow your pace by much. pressing the X button will get you through it much faster.

(+)Luminescence: Glowing in any color or way you want.

(H)Webbing: A very sticky material that's rather light for the ordinary Homo Sackien.

- Neon
- More types of metal; i.e. aluminum or sheet metal
- Cotton or other semi-transparent cloth/fiber material so you can see light behind it
- Light/clear matter that acts like dark matter (I hate how you can see dark matter behind glass when you try to stick glass to the back most thin layer)
- Rope that you could make into things like cargo nets or something
- water
- Better Letters
- Yes...as stated above, mirrored would be cool

How about this:

-Bouncy Material: Kind of like a platform attached to springs but in material form.
-Sharp Material: A new kind of hazard that makes thin objects sharp so that you can get more obstacles.
-Cracking Material: What the name says. Walk on it too fast and it'll break beneath your feet. Something you gotta tip toe across. Like thin ice.
-Cloud Material: Like bad gas but not deadly. Mostly a decoration.
-Gravity Material: If you touch it you can walk on it even upside down and what not. Press O to drop down maybe.

I'm sure this has been posted somewhere before, but who cares.

I guess I'd like to see water. Something that is a new sort of material, that you can walk through but alters the way sack boy and other materials move through it. So it doesn't belong in any of those categories.

One path material (+) - Basically what the material does is, has an arrow pointing towards a certain direction, once you go through the material, you can't go back. It would open up a lot of puzzles and mazes...2009-01-12 05:24:00

you could probably make something like that with wobble bolts. like they open when you walk one way, but not when you go the other way

It would be much easier to just have one, and that wobble bolt one wouldn't really work if you had more then one player because...

If it was used with sensor switches, if one player wanted to go back, and the other player was on the other side, he could easily open it and he would be able to return.

And if it was a "One-Shot" type thing, there would be the possibility of players being stuck behind...

If there was a one way material it would probably have the same problem of leaving people behind.2009-01-12 05:47:00

How so? One WAY material... Not a ONE TIME ONE WAY material... Everyone would be able to go through, but not back out...2009-01-12 05:48:00

fiber optics as a decoration...shining like neon blue i guess. you click on spot one to attach and spot two to attach the end. it could also work as a wire on the switches. it'd look cool as h on robots etc.2009-01-12 18:44:00

I guess you play Line Rider too!

I know it's not really the same, but I guess you could do something like this, using fairly loose normal bolts?:

Main problem is it'd probably be a bit of a pain in tight spaces.

That would work, I just see it being a pain in tight spaces like you mentioned, also if you were to try to make it so you jump up and into one.

EDIT: And no I don't play Line Rider.

I'd like to see (R) bouncing rubber materials, (M) a lot more shiny metals, (sp) have you ever jumped up on a felt tree? I'd really love a material that acts like that! A hazard that would be useful would be mud which makes you walk slower and jump shorter, maybe it should even be able to kill sackboy if he gets completely swallowed and you should be able to change it's color (white=deep snow green=toxic waste etc).2009-01-13 20:54:00

Vaccuum and wind is a great idea...also like the mud, something sticky. Most of these unprotected brain enemies are sooooo easy to kill. With a tacky or sticky surface may make things a little more difficult.2009-01-14 13:41:00

on the wind...if you could make it so you could have the speed of the wind increase on one piece of material so when you jumped it could have more effect. Example below where the arrows are wind speed and M is the material. You could set it to be the same speed all over the material or increase from 'x' mph on one end to 'y' mph on the other.

Stretchy material.

Basically elastic, but you can build with it. So if youstep on it, you sink!

Ah, here's that link.

The "I wish this material was in it" thread (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=4228)

Many of the suggestions here are not new. Read through the multiple pages of this thread if you dare.

Sorry ill just try posting this here

I would love:

Sponge that sucks you in(You dont have to grab this sponge. it grabs you, shake it off with the jump button.) I think this wouldnt be very hard to implement and Would be so great. (level baddies could easily kidnapp helpless sackboys/girls, Big helpful monster could pick you up over the ledge, Evil bugs jump at you and slow your movement!!)

Probably mentioned before but I think Jelly would be cool. Or possubly putty. Basically a material that you slowly sink into. Maybe if you get completely submerged in it, you die!2009-01-21 01:09:00

I'd like to see a material (Or an option to have applied to a material via hazard menu) that's flammable and catches flames on a switch condition or when it comes into contact with other flames.2009-01-21 04:26:00

Being able to make a material lethal (on fire, elictrified whatever) during gameplay would be a great addition overall.

I sometimes have a problem that when you make material burning it always gets so dark, making nice-looking flaming arrows quite a challenge.

or when it comes into contact with other flames.

Something like that would be great, imagine a second burning hazard that allowed the fire to spread to sponge and other easily flammable materials! There would of course be an option which allows you to adjust how fast the flames will spread, Imagine a level where you need to get out of a house before the flames spread to much! There should also be like a switch which you could wire to the fire to slowly (or instantly) extinguish the fire. you could also implement this idea into the electric hazard, as soon as the overcharged electrified material comes into contact with a metal material it would instantly also get electrified, until it gets separated from the electric source!
The tools would be called something like: overcharged electrification and highly flammable hazard. :arg:
