Very Awesome 3D Tool

Archive: 16 posts

Here's an album of 25 pictures showing how/what to do. (http://imgur.com/a/pE9fr)

Text explaining some of the pictures(Don't need to read this, Pictures explain it all awesomely)

Note* Don't put the Oni Emitter In a microchip it freezes the game.

When you destroy the sackbot it's best to grab the sackbot, let go of it, & then destroy it without closing your popit through those steps, since the head of the sackbot goes under the map(Don't destroy the sackbot while holding it, it wont work)

Resize it(Big Grid) put controlinator on it(Small Grid)

Put logic on controlinator as seen in pictures(self explanatory)

The Logic with the Camera is so you can zoom in and out to see in front layers

The Logic with the destroyer is so you can exit the 3D Tool and destroy it at the same time(It has timers so you don't accidentally press O and delete it, & sound so you know its gone(good if your real far away from play field and cant see it))

Get a direction combiner and the positive is L2 negative is L1, connect a mover to it(sound is optional, I like it though)

Now that the Controlinator logic is done go in your Goodies Bag>Collected Objects>Dangerous Creatures>Terrible Oni
& copy the emitter from that & place it under the controlinator(Small Grid) connect it with X on controlinator.

Edit the emitter like in pictures.

Make the 3D tool emit a piece of Material & test it out.

If made correctly it should be able to move in & out of ALL layers, & whatever layer you are in it will emit the Material in that layer. If it does work with the material you can emit anything you want in any layers, it may not want to keep some things in the back layer, just move up more and emit again.

Last two pictures demonstrate use of camera and emitting in back layers

I got this tool from JimmyJ75, he got it from oLMCo(he is the original creator)

bpunsky, I believe is the 1st one to find the sackbot head glitch using this method(but he thought it was the controlinator)

Hope this helps some creators out there, I took all the pictures with my PVR so the menu's would be visible(Obviously lol)

The second half of the tutorial looks straightforward, but the bit with the sackbot seems unclear... Is that the thing that you're resizing on the big grid?2012-09-18 01:15:00

I did as the pictures suggested and it does indeed traverse any layer. I did run into an issue though. When I tried to emit using Oni's Emitter it froze my game up. Three times. Any suggestions?

That's new, Me and 5 of my friends all use this tool, and we haven't froze once using it, only weird thing that happened once was when a friend exited the tool he stayed in the back layer and was moving forward slowly to the normal layers.

You brought out oni and just copied the emitter? Same settings as pictures also? I never heard of freezing issues with it.

I had it in a chip. I think thats what made it freeze. I tried to run 5 Oni emitters so I had options on what object to emit. That froze. I reduced it to one in a chip. That froze. I put it under the controlinator on the sackbot material and it works like a charm. Thanks. I can build a 100 layer bakscratch array in about 2 minutes now 2012-09-27 22:54:00

Good to know that microchips freeze it I guess. 8^)2012-09-28 00:42:00

I am following your steps, one by one, because this looks like a really nice tool to have in my collection. Only problem, I don't have terible oni. Do I need that emmiter, and where do I get it?
Thanks.

Yea you need the Terrible Oni From LBP1's level "The Terrible Oni's Volcano"

You get The Terrible Oni by getting all of the prize bubbles in that level on LBP1.

Thanks! Got it. It works great, this is an amazing tool. I wonder what is different about the oni emmitter, because I tried a regular one until I got the oni one abd it didn't work. It works now that I replaced it with the correct one.

No Idea, but it seems the logic on LBP1/LBP2 items are all named the same as the object they come from, and the LBP1 conveyor belt Emitter is a Decal(like the Pod Controller)

It's a decal because it cannot be tweaked, and when you place it on a microchip you can stack it so it goes 3D just like every other Decal.

So yea, just explore the logic for LBP1/LBP2 items and see if there's anything special about them besides the names they have. 8^)

Anyone tried this in Vita?
After successful replication in LBP2 last night, I went ahead and tried it out for Vita. I ran into two problems, and made one change.
Problems:
1.) The Vita version of the invisible "Sackbot head" material doesn't allow anything to be placed on it.
2.) There is no "Oni emitter" equivalent in Vita.
Changes:
1.) Substituted "R1" for the "L2" button wiring.
2.)Substituted regular, Dynamic material for Sackbot head material.
Conclusion: Works exactly as it did in LBP2, but only within the standard layers.
Unless someone can create a glitched emitter that works like a decal, or there's some way of incorporating some type of touch-related huju into the mix, I suspect this won't translate into Vita. (Bummer!)
