"Technology in deep space: Light speed"

Archive: 8 posts

Hi community.

I have the proud to presents my new level. As you can read in the tittle is called "Technology in deep space: Light Speed", is like fast paced version of the first part, which make of this one something totally different.

Create this level was a little challenge to myself, I tried prove myself what can I do, what are my limits on LBP about Design, logic, Gameplay... but, as always have the feeling it could be better, I'm never satisfied with my own work. I was focusing on gameplay and design on this one, trying do something intrincate, fast and complex at same time. I had to do some logic work to make it possible (It could fail by LBP physic mostly). The design is similar but not exactly the same as the first part, a space theme level with blue tones (Lights and stickers) white and darks. About logic I've created turn-giver logic to give a chance to every player who enter the level, I though is a great idea on this case because isn't easy make all the level work with 4 players moving around and it's a team work with this system also. The centiseconds timer is the base of the challenge on this level. Learn how to move in each place, where press "R1" are some of the keys to ace it fast as possible. I got some inspiration on my good friend, the great @RikiRiki-ita and his epic fast-paced platformers.

Special thanks to: @Comishguy67 for letting me use his epic space themed music (Soundtrack: "Ambience" and "Galactic expedition"). @Missi_cat for help me with the intro grammar, support and testing the level. @Alley_Cat_8633 for the hard work testing the level and support. Thanks in general to all my friends who tested the level and keep supporting me every days, is one of the reasons I keep creating.

Here are some pictures I took from the level to give you a basic idea about what I mean:

I hope you enjoy the level if finally give it a try.

Greetings. Alfredo.

played it twice last night and will probably play it a few more times tonight. Unbelievable! I was completely and utterly blown away with this. The entire level just flowed so smoothly from one awesome contraption to another. The layer switching was really cool as well. I thought it was neat to fall behind the "main" layer and see myself being pushed along in the background, genius!I just can't say enough good things about this level. A phenomenal piece of work that is a real blast to play. Thank you for the great experience!

It's nice to see other people using the centrifuge mechanic. Not many people use it and when I made it for one of my levels I thought "yep, this would be great for those fast-paced platformers". The level itself was pretty nice (in multiple, very sexy ways). The mechanics worked well and the visuals were very lustilicious(what? I can't think of anything else to say so I might as well be inappropriate). There are some problems, but they are more with the genre of levels itself. Namely, there are a few cheap deaths, there are several sections where there's no real gameplay and QTEs are very, very present.

While the level doesn't really separate itself from the genre, it does get props for being fun, fluid and filled to the sensual brim with interesting, well done mechanics. It's fun and it earned a heart, but it's not the messiah of platformers that some people are making it out to be.

EDIT: I just played your first Technology in Deep Space, and it was phenomenal. Great work on these levels man.

Another great job on the sci-fi series, ALS. Just like the first installment, which is currently in my 10 favorite levels of all time in lbp.me, the level is jampacked with great visuals, awesome music, and fast-paced gameplay. This level has some of the most amazing use bounce pads I've ever experienced. Looking forward to see more of your outstanding platformers.
