Shop is functional

Archive: 60 posts

You should be able to purchase a few items(including some nifty upgrades) via the shop. More will be added over time, but I wanted to get a few things running to get an idea of how popular it will be. They are rather expensive compared to what most users have allocated, but the items I've added need to be configured manually after you've purchased it, so I need to filter out "average joe" for now. Don't let that discourage those who can afford it, though, as I still need to test it out. I hope to see some sweet wallpapers and avatars for you guys to buy in the future, but we have to stick to what we've got for now. Think Imma save up for the Elite User package. Would be cool if I knew what it did though xD (EDIT: I know now, I have to click them ) Does it take your experience points, or do you still have them after you buy it.

Also, a PM space reward is cool, but not when you reduce the initial size to less than half... I came on today and my inbox was full, just by my sent messages alone. But I guess we'll all get used to it. (I've thought more on this and it seems the sensible thing to do.)

It takes your experience points, as we don't want you being able to buy anything at anytime. As of now, there is no feature in vBExperience which allows you to retain your level after a purchase. I wish there was, so you wouldn't move down in the ranks just because you bought something. I'm gonna have to look into it.

And no, it does not change the color of your username, but it adds a nice little icon in your postbit that represents the one that you bought(bronze trophy for "Bronze User", and so on and so forth). Like I said, I plan on adding much cheaper stuff to the store once it gets going so we don't have just tons of expensive stuff.		2008-08-16 16:48:00

I've made some changes that affected all the groups:

Bronze now has 105x105px avatar.
Silver now has 110x110px avatar.
Gold now has 115x115px avatar and only .25MB avatar storage space.

Absolutely. Right now the shop is rather sparse(only 5 elite packages available) but I'll add more at some point. I did that because I have to do everything manually, so I need a way to limit it from time to time.		2008-08-16 18:10:00

A user can elect to be invisible while browsing, which means nobody except staff knows they are online. You would be allowed to see them as well.

Detailed user activity information is also interesting. If you look at someone's profile and you see they are Private Messaging, you can also see which user they are PMing. Etc, etc.

The Elite package isn't for all users. That's why it's elite. It's there so the people who really want to be considered the "cream of the crop" can be, while the users that just want certain functionality can elect to purchase a smaller one. That's why the options are there.

Yeah, you do. Nothing we can do about it, sorry. Just buy a smaller one. I mean, I don't know why it matters, but if it bothers you then don't do it. When you buy an item, there is a cool little icon in your postbit so people know you bought it, so it's not like it'll be for no reason.		2008-08-16 18:36:00

I think it's good what is available at the moment. When people earn things - it will feel like they earned it! I'll be happy with gold - but if it takes less time than expected i may go for elite.2008-08-17 02:42:00

You get points by being a regular member: posting, making threads, voting in polls, rating threads, ect. Each activity has a value associated with it, and each time you perform that activity you are rewarded points. Those points can then be spent in the LittleBigShop.		2008-08-17 03:07:00

Yep, the profile stickers are cool. You buy one and then you get a nice little image in your postbit. Right now there's 11 of them, but at the rate lbp is going I could see a lot more in the future.2008-08-17 17:27:00

We're not selling custom titles on their own. There are user upgrades you can buy which will give you a custom title.		2008-08-18 01:25:00

The profile images range from 50 points to about 500. We're trying to have more rare ones, and those one will cost more. Everything in the Stickers section is still closed for buying, but we've added 20 stickers, with more to come on the way.

If you guys want to see how they will look, check out this test post from our test user we created.

Ignore the second last icon image that appears smaller. They will all look uniform.

Basically, you choose the items you want.

We'll get more and more stickers to choose from. We want to have a wider selection for when the sticker part opens up. We'll also include some general video game stickers/icons like PS3 ones, and other video game related stickers.
