Post your favourite memories / experiences with these games, man

Archive: 9 posts

Okay, this thread is going to be a bit sappy and nostalgiarific so if that's not your thing stay clear.

With all these negative threads about how this game is going to poo / is incredibly unfair, I decided to do something different. Normally I'd be the first person to complain about something going wrong with this game, but I think that attitude is becoming a bit too prevalent. There are tons of problems, but for every problem there's bound to be at least one great (or at least decent) experience. Since I really don't want to loath my overall experience with this game, I figured I'd focus on some great memories I've had and you might as well too.

One good memory is when Tactical_Gunner and I were creating a fishing mini-game based around a single inappropriate joke ("are you a master baiter and an expert fisherman?") and it somehow evolved into a full-on level. Another is when SLS10 and I were just looking at some of our failed projects, and we stumbled upon our attempted MOBA 'Pyle Attacks the Ancients'. We actually spent half-an-hour laughing at how candid and blunt the title was. And really, nothing can ever beat trolling with AbstractFlesh. Read his reviews (http://lbp.me/u/AbstractFlesh) on the game if you actually want to tear up laughing.

I'll also never forget the time I got my first spotlight here. I had close to no confidence in my level or abilities at the time and the spotlight really did give me motivation to continue creating. In retrospect, the level itself was actually quite terrible and I pretty much got the spotlight out of pity but without it I'd never have gotten to where I am now.

Enough dwelling on nostalgia for me, but why don't you post some great experiences you've had, be it with friends, with levels, on the forums or whatever?

There are so many good moments, but in having to pull one from memory just now, I have to say I had the biggest, dopiest grin when a fellow player took me through the LBP CUP 2011 level.

At the risk of instantly derailing the conversation into a "link to your favorite level" thread, this is the level (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E4tgXlUCl9g) (Youtube).

I didn't know what to make of it. It just kept getting better and better. Just a brilliant time.

UPDATE: Three hours later and I am still singing the William Tell Overture as I recall things. What a bright spot to my day! "Dada-lun, dada-lun, dada lun lun lun ♪"

It's good that there is a positive thread or two. I really don't think LBP's as bad as some people make it out to be either.
I remember my first moments in LBP. I sucked.
I also remember slapping people around, and slapping my brother all the way across an empty level in a single slap somehow.
And building a level with a friend, and stealing someone's music without knowing it, and becoming partners in crime.

There are a few.
One of the more recent ones is when me and my friend would go play emo love story levels (which I was actually introduced to by the OP), and we would just post retarded stickers on everything and make retarded jokes MST3000 style.
A bit earlier back, I have fond memories of my level, How Media Molecule Got the Idea For the Negativitron, getting on the cool pages. I know it's not honorable at all, but it was great for me. I got a lot of invites, though.
There was when I was working on movie with Robmandx (or Mr. Sackfist). It was a detective film and there was a thread about it in the Projects Page quite a bit ago. The movie never came, but it was still great. It was my first time working on a group project, and it felt awesome.
My best times were definitely early in LBP2. I remember actually being excited for the Mm picks, and seriously giddy with all the crazy levels people made. The very first level I played was Corridors of Madness, and it was probably the best level experience I've ever had.
Speaking of levels, the most fun I've had on a multiplayer level was in Dark Force (or Dark Sword? I don't know the name. It was Mm picked and by Esuki). It was one of the best levels ever. Me and my friends would keep trying to beat it over and over again, but the bosses were too hard. I eventually beat it by myself.

When I met my friends. When I saw I inspired other people to make vehicles and publish them. When I saw my name in the credits. The times when everyone got into giggling fits from doing stupid things in online create.2012-09-12 12:25:00

Buying my PS3 just for LBP, which was 100% worth it.
Making my first level, Parachute Race Down Electric Valley.
Meeting new friends.
The excitement I had when LBP2 came out and I picked up my pre-order.
When I aced Full Metal Rabbit during the PSN outage.
Making any level for The Dups. Every session of making a Dups level with the team is a blast!
When The Dups started to become popular.
Many crappy levels that gave us amazing joke material.

It was so much fun when me and a friend called Zagent_0 spent time yabbering at each other through our mics. We did almost nothing but play a horribly made Liquid-Snake-MGS bomb survival I made until we knew the exact pattern of it. It was such a long time ago though, I barely even remember if that was his username, but we had such a blast, it was unreal. Then even further back than that was a colourful bunch of friends who were my first friends on LBP. One of them whom I joined in Quickplay named Sky17576 had got me to meet Zagent_0 and a whole bunch of other people, like littlebigfan1997 and Platinum-Gamer-2. the three of us were basically the three musketeers during our LBP2 days, playing Little Big Air Warfare 2 and making big adventure levels and stuff. There was also Spazz who is just awesome and bro in general.

There was also meeting Destiny_Waits who made the Micheal Jackson music and See You Tomorrow movies on Pond Skater, and we both got the last prizes together, which was awesome. :hero:

It's pretty absurd looking back on all of it. If the LBP servers chose even the one person next to Sky on the console list for me to dive in to, then I'd have met an entire new chain of people. I think I was pretty lucky to have the server pick that person one out of the draw. And that the person chose to let me follow him around on his levels. I think I was pretty harsh to him later though, maybe I wasn't thankful enough of it.

O glorious nostalgia. How your oversized boot scrambles one's feels so hard. ;u;

I was playing with Just_Tom__, L1GhTmArE, and Missi-Cat, and before L1GhTmArE left, we took a group photo by a horribly thrown-together bunny that he made. It was a fun time.2012-09-12 22:23:00
