animated ants
Archive: 7 posts
I've seen a few levels that have animated ants. I know there are ant objects, but they are static. Are there animated ants that you can unlock or are people animating the static ant objects? | 2012-09-11 03:12:00 Author: SirGreenDay Posts: 144 |
The people I know who do this put the ant deco sticker on Hologram and program it to move by using the Move controller. | 2012-09-11 03:16:00 Author: Lady_Luck__777 Posts: 3458 |
That's exactly how I did my movements for my ants in my level "Guardian". Not sure if there's any other way or ways. | 2012-09-11 06:11:00 Author: tripple_sss Posts: 250 |
Obviously, you could place them on some invisible holo or sticker material which has a mover or motor/wobble bolt attached. Doing it with the Move controller would give you the most complex movement though, but sometimes, maybe you just want to keep it simple. | 2012-09-11 07:10:00 Author: Liquid_Blood_ Posts: 116 |
you can also use a mover set to local space (stick the ants on some holo) and a couple of rotators. If you use the randomising with the rotators you can make them less uniform when they crawl across the wall or up it. | 2012-09-11 16:38:00 Author: GribbleGrunger Posts: 3910 |

Adding to the suggestion of putting the ant deco on holo, basic mover set to local space: wire a randomized to two 1s timers set to <->. Wire the timers to a signal combiner and wire that into a rotator set to directional. Now, add a tag 'ant' and a tag sensor set to about a 120 degree cone on the ant's head side, responding to the 'ant' tag. Wire the sensor to a NOT gate and that to the randomized above. Then wire the sensor to a look-at rotator aiming slowly for the tag 'ant' in front (120 deg cone). Emit a bunch of ants. The first will chose a random path, the ones behind him will try to follow in his footsteps. If one gets lost, he picks his own path, followed by whoever behind him. Play around with the settings for better results. | 2012-09-11 20:35:00 Author: Antikris Posts: 1340 |
