Uncharted Realms - The Twilight Portal Very impressive level, nice aesthetics. The wall textures in the school were a bit off, not sure whether that was just my end because everything else looked great. Loved the multi-path, so that you could take the easy way if you wanted to/were becoming frustrated. Nice to see that you didn't put enemies in for the sake of it either. Platforming elements after the school were very well done. Only two little things wrong with it, very minor. The first is that in the first two rooms, the planes are quite hard to navigate between, but this is an annoyance more than anything else. Secondly was the dog. Was I supposed to drag him to his kennel? Because I couldn't get him past the table. Apart from that, very impressive level, 5 stars and hearted. However, I can't finish your second level, I think the blue wips may be broken, as they don't all disappear. First time only one did, the second time only two did, I am attempting again now, will edit to write a review if I can get past it. Edit:- Still no joy, first one wouldn't dissolve, then dissolved after a second grab, second dissolved ok, third wouldn't dissolve no matter how many times I grab it, fourth dissolved ok, fifth dissolved but then I died from I'm guessing the "death smoke" stuff coming up through the platform. Unfortunately everytime I respawned I died as soon as I landed | 2009-01-12 17:25:00 Author: Plug-inSteadman Posts: 6 |
Act 1: Hmm the dog is one of the side-quests ^^" And yeah you should put him to where he belongs On the table ... grab on to him ... stop moving and jump You will get him over the table that way. Act 2: hmmm thats so weird ... I just played it thru ... all wisps died >,< Ima play it once more Edit :: Yeah they all died. Maybe you havent touched them? Or ... maybe its because of the lag? | 2009-01-12 17:30:00 Author: Senrir Posts: 126 |
It worked now, I'll post a review when I'm done but so far impressive ^_^ | 2009-01-12 17:40:00 Author: Plug-inSteadman Posts: 6 |
OMG ... there was still one bug Ive found >,< Gonna fix it fast | 2009-01-12 17:51:00 Author: Senrir Posts: 126 |
I've actually given up now, it was playing very well until I got to Sackfoot (which, btw, was THE most frustrating thing ever lol), I hit the elbow but when I launched the big stone from the catapult, I think the catapult dissolved and died, and I couldn't continue However, I'll still give it four stars, and heart it, I may try again tomorrow | 2009-01-12 18:18:00 Author: Plug-inSteadman Posts: 6 |
Sure thing ! There still are some bugs cause I just published them today. Fixing them now ^^" Already tweaked down the difficulty of the tree/old tree area ^^ | 2009-01-12 18:28:00 Author: Senrir Posts: 126 |
Hey man! I just played Part One and I was pleasantly surprised. Here are my thoughts... The presentation is very tidy, it's not hard on the eye which is always a good thing. I love how much replayability value you gave the level! I played it twice to try and find all the secrets... I still have to take the other paths! I loved the whole story so far. I also liked the fact that you stated when someone gives you something eg. "You recieve an odd-looking stone...". I've played a lot of Flash games that include that type of dialogue and I love it. I liked the beginning. It went straight into it, no beating around the bush. Overall, I loved your level. I gave it 5 stars and a heart. I'm off to play Part 2 now and I'll leave my thoughts. Keep up the good work! | 2009-01-12 18:30:00 Author: Unknown User |
Oooh wait for chapter 2 ^^" ... you might find the last part too difficult xD Tweaking it atm Edit :: Tweaked ... now I think everyone can get through it easily >,< | 2009-01-12 18:44:00 Author: Senrir Posts: 126 |
I didn't even know these were posted on here, I just checked your name from my LBP comments and checked these out... I'm gonna go ahead and just say that I got stuck in act 2 and had to quit. I can't get the 3rd blue wisp to disappear. PLEASE fix this as soon as possible, or tell me what I'm doing wrong. I tried to grab it for 20 minutes and restarted twice to keep trying. I also went on top of the gondola holder, the black rubber, walked over and pulled a big piece of the tree out, and walked outside the level, and fell out - since I couldn't do anything to the wisp. That's probably not supposed to happen, but you COULD make it an awesome secret area. Also, if you take the gondola all the way to the end, your character dies and respawns into the gas, dies until all the lives are gone and has to restart; just lower the gas a little, or stop it from going that far. Even though I didn't finish, I have to tell you that even after playing OCK's Legion, Nev's Knights Tales, and Hex's Timmy's Dream/Heart of Gold... I am super impressed with your ability to craft a setting, tell a story, and entertain with wonderful set design, character design, and fun gameplay on top of it. The school was nice, cramped, but that gave a feeling of being small... lol @ the teacher being a ditz, and at her face on the homeroom door sign... I love how you get this mysterious rock from your moron friend, and how everyone has their own dialogue. It felt like I was playing Bully mixed with Heart of Darkness (a couple classic games). I love how the crazy stuff just comes out of nowhere down stairs and that's probably my favorite chase scene in LBP so far. I like the bus ride home, and the non-linear routes here - although I think the bus could look a little nicer. The home setting is done to perfection, and I literally laughed my @ off at mom and dad... that was hilarious, and a totally solid way to give your sackboy some depth as a character and some motivation for the escapism that follows. I like the dog, the look of the place - I thought for a second I could bring the dog outside and get some points, but oh well... I love this story set up so far and the way they open a magic gate with scene transitions is very cool. Act 2 - so far all I've seen are the village and the cemetary - and both are great. The village with all it's NPC characters and totally robust liveliness and personality.... so much detail and work must have went into this. It's arguably the best stand alone area I've seen in LBP... this is definitely better looking than act 1, and could probably lead you to go back and improve on the first one a little. PLEASE get it goin' ASAP because until I was rudely stopped short I was having a great time, and I think you've really got something special here. I have never seen levels this open and packed with story, but so polished at the same time. | 2009-01-13 04:37:00 Author: Unknown User |
Thanks for the comments Magic ^^" Let me start on act 1 - Yeah you can take the dog out and get some secret points ^^". There are lots of side quests on that level so just explore oooh and secrets too ^^" - Have you tried the "catch the clothes" minigame (Mid Path) xD ? Act 2: - Thanks for those bugs you found ^^" .. .really there were lots of bugs when I published it yesterday. Now it looks like there is still a bit more left. Thanks for those ... gonna fix them once I get home from school ... (Hope there is no bullies! ... lolz) - Oooh and the third wisp was really hard to reach. Gonna republish a new version later when I get home from school, which will make it a lot easier to reach. (Will post here if its done) *** The first version was really hard actually ... that even made people leave som harsh comments xD ... Now I think its too easy >,<" ... oh well. We have to serve players of all skill levels yeah? - The secret area ... hmm I dont think that would be possible. Already have maxed thermometer ... cant even place a simple speech bubble ... and also I think the number of sidequests and "other secret areas" are enough | 2009-01-13 09:58:00 Author: Senrir Posts: 126 |
I played your second installment of the series yesterday... I have to say, I didn't like it as much as the first one. I kept getting stuck and dying when it wasn't my fault. By the way; I had to increase the gamma in "settings" because the level was so dark... Please fix that. It might just be my TV, but still. Also, what Ninja said. The "wisps" didn't dissolve straight away and I got really frustrated after hanging on to them for ages. Oh yeah - at the end of the cart section, the gas below kept killing me and I had to stay on the left side to avoid this. Honestly, I can't really say much more. There were too many bugs for me to enjoy the level properly. If you fixed the bugs it would be 10x better. Oh yeah, another thing... You should make a whole "School Series" because I really loved the first part. If not, I'll have to make it myself xD It might be called "School Escape". Hm... Anyway, I gave it 4 stars and unfortunately no heart. I have faith in you though, so I'm looking forward to Part 3! | 2009-01-13 10:17:00 Author: Unknown User |
Hmm... yeah early yesterday there were still many bugs. And some parts were too hard. Just published it yesterday. Have fixed lots of bugs on the last republish. Now there are a few bugs left (3rd wisp and the cart section) Ima fix the rest of the bugs today ^^" hopefully. Will post here once everythings fixed | 2009-01-13 10:46:00 Author: Senrir Posts: 126 |

Just played act 2 ! Really glad I played it now cause it looked like it had lots of bugs Well all levels have bugs each time theyre publish so dont punish yourself from that ... but ... the rating may have been low because of those bugs you had But now that everythings fine I think everyones gonna enjoy the level Really enjoyed the RPG-ish feeling and atmosphere! It made me remember my elder scrolls days .... ugh ... now I get an urge to play that game again! Your fault! lol Oh and I only manage to do 2 sidequests ... how do you get to the left one? The monsters were so detailed ... Even the level design itself, the atmosphere and the music were spot on. I was shocked! Never believed you could make this kind of a level; backtracking from act 1 ... ( I read that you published a new version :O ... maybe Ill play that too ) The ancient tree and tehhh sack-feet "boss" was a bit too easy for me ... maybe its my skills? 5 star and a heart for ya Hmmm ... from the looks of the ending ... is it safe to say that the next act would be fire themed? It?ll be exciting to see | 2009-01-13 21:43:00 Author: RagnaMohawk Posts: 11 |
Thanks for the feedback God ... and about the easy parts ... I really cant decide ... on the first publish ... people say its too hard ... now youre saying its easy >,<" ... ughh ... | 2009-01-13 22:42:00 Author: Senrir Posts: 126 |
I was able to beat the first one, but not the second one. Stupid tree spirit thing >_< I liked the side-quests, very interesting. Also, I like how the story is going, and how the apple "translates" or whatever. I wish I could get a better view of the cat creatures. I couldn't really see them well due to how dark it was. And another bug is when I jumped on the bouncy bridges, I sometimes fell through (I might have just been in the wrong depth, though). | 2009-01-16 23:38:00 Author: Sackdragon Posts: 427 |

Maybe its just my tv ... *sigh* ... Should I decrease the darkness? And oh ... the tree part - was it too difficult? | 2009-01-16 23:50:00 Author: Senrir Posts: 126 |
I played both chapters, here we are, I'm short of time so I'll be brief: I'll try to focus on the important parts and not to mention obvious thing like: The ending of the first chapter is awesome or it seemed like playing a true RPG (except for the invent. you know...) 1: + I liked the multipath design + The music fits really good + Events you can miss + Sidequests also are always a good thing and are well placed - The school desks really seems to be borrowed from a church! lol - The elastic-jumps are really a pain! - Didn't liked the schoolbus 2: + The village is very well thought + Liked ''You have to do me a favour to go on (rpg style)'' - I had to grab the blue wisps several times to make them disappear (you wanted it this way?) - Climb the mountain sidequest is nearly impossible, it needs some tweaking. The first rotating thing is too low and when you grab it you always burn in the floor fire, I managed to climb it only going in the fire to make my sackboy jump past the 'wheel' and after then is possible to correctly grab the 'wheel', that spins to fast for the kind of jump requested, and after a pair of seconds you're carried in the fire due to the problem mentioned above. The jumps are yet difficult without all those burning falling pieces, maybe the sidequest reward is high enough to pay the skill needed to overcome it, I didn't managed to finish it and lost all my lives. So I didn't finished neither the level. 5/5 and a heart for both levels, I realize I forgot to heart you as author, but consider it as yet done! Let me know when you fixed this, I wanna replay it. | 2009-01-21 16:35:00 Author: Miglioshin Posts: 336 |
I get what you're trying to do here. You're trying to make an RPG!!! Rather tricky, considering LBP's engine is more suited to side-scrolling platforming action. But I think you've done a good job. Looking forward to more levels in this style. Act 1: First, the good stuff. I thought the level design was nicely done. The school felt like school, looked like school. And the incinerator was hilarious! I also loved how the town was multi-path. The house was fun. With a few speech bubbles, you were able to capture the average family dynamics. Speaking of the speech bubbles, I think all the characters in the entire level were great. Along with the setting, you were able to use them to set the right mood and tone for this level. That you made me want to explore every nook and cranny, run from room to room, jump from rooftop to rooftop is a testament to good level design. The areas that need improvement... don't worry, they're minor! First, I'd like to mention the top room with the spikes. This is a personal opinion, but I really dislike jumping over spikes, especially because jumping in LBP is sometimes a pretty tricky business. It got rather frustrating after a few tries. Also, I suggest you put more checkpoints in the rooftops area with all the fireball-spewing chimneys, unless you deliberately designed it that way to make it more difficult. Lastly, the teleporation at the end of the level. The room vanishing and the rainbow effect were cool, but as I was falling, I kept on pressing left and I ended up missing the scoreboard!!! Perhaps you can devise some way to make the scoreboard less "missable"? Act 2 Again, great level design. I loved how you were able to make this world so drastically different from the previous one, and at the same time preserve the continuity of the story. Basically all the good things I said about Act 1 apply to Act 2 as well. As for areas of improvement... well, I get how you want this level to seem more dark and mysterious, but there are some areas that are so dark you can't see the alternate paths anymore. It's easy to get lost. Maybe you can put just a couple of more lights in some places? And like the spikes, some of the challenges are not just difficult... they're frustratingly difficult. Like the first side-quest with the burning floor and the rotating thinggies. Sometimes, when you latch on to the first rotating cylinder, the floor burns you immediately. Was that deliberate, or is that a bug?? Overall, both levels are good. With some minor improvements, they can be much, much better. I gave them 5 and 4 stars respectively, hearted them both, and hearted you as the creator. Hoping to see the continuation of this story, and of course, more levels. Good job, and good luck with your future works! | 2009-01-23 07:45:00 Author: mostevilmilo Posts: 131 |
Thanks for the comments ^^" Ima get into your levels tommorow Need to finish Bioshock today >,<" ... god the story is addicting. Ima look unto those frustrating moments/areas, adjust light, and adjust wisp difficulty (again >,<) ... and fix some of the bugs you mentioned tommorow too. lol. Thanks for everything ^^" And oh ... @ Migloshin: Ima try to tweak that fiery-circle-rotating sidequest ... tommorow | 2009-01-24 11:23:00 Author: Senrir Posts: 126 |
Playing act 1 now and one thing i can say, too much camera angeles and text baloons... its making me crazy. i update when i finish it... level looks cool already, but too much cameras and text anyway... you can make text baloons, but dont let you camera zoom in on them, it irrtating for me while running or jumping or so. =) ok played it, level looks cool but al text and cameras ruined it sorry =( Up to act 2 =D | 2009-01-24 12:25:00 Author: Dexist Posts: 570 |

I really want to create an RPG atmosphere in it ... so there really should be texts. If youre not really into RPGs ... then sorry >,<" the level is not for ya. Hmmm ... maybe the part 2 of Act 3 will suite you better ... no text, just action ... well maybe because its a boss fight? And ... just finished Bioshock!!! and OMG! ... the ending was really good and satisfying ^^" | 2009-01-24 16:42:00 Author: Senrir Posts: 126 |
Thanks for all the comments! Appreciate them <3 Been gone for a looong time. But I finally got my LBP2 and its time for some needed level updates. Act 1 has been reworked from top to bottom using LBP2. Can anyone change the badge on the forum from LBP1 to LBP2? I have locked Act 2 for the time being, gonna start with updates on it asap ... and as usual Im still F2F Have fun y'all | 2012-02-09 22:52:00 Author: Senrir Posts: 126 |
I don't like these types of level so I won't do review. But cannon minigame has some bugs, like I wanted to leave minigame, jumped off controllinator but door was closed. Then I jumped in again and nothing happened, so I was stuck and had to restart level. | 2012-02-10 10:22:00 Author: Unknown User |
Hmm ... thanks for that glitch! ^_^". Haven't thought about that situation, just gotta add a logic or 2 xD | 2012-02-10 14:19:00 Author: Senrir Posts: 126 |
Okay, some stuff about the first level. I like the looks of it, and the setting works well. There's a lot of stuff that could be playtested better, though. Right at the beginning, there's a kid asking me to go upstairs, and thinking that was part of the storyline, I briefly poked into the next room, only to get locked out of the hallway. Um, why? There's no reason for me not to be able to go back. The waffle-tosser minigame was a neat touch, and a fun little game of Angry Birds, but it would REALLY be handy to have some way to quit out of the minigames. More on that later. Down to the lower hallway, and I found myself chased by bullies with an incinerator. Cool concept! A really nice challenge... if I got more than a second to react once the text-bubble's gone. I got caught on some furniture that was in my way right at the beginning (at LEAST give me some running room before you throw obstacles at me), and got killed, and that was that. Okay, so I was outside. Again, nice visuals. I did get killed once because it looked like you could jump on the poles that the wires hang from in front of the burning building, but no biggie. By far the biggest problem of the level happened with the following minigame. The falling-burning-clothes minigame was broken for me. I would gather some clothes, and then wait for ten to twenty seconds before new clothes would fall. Eventually they just stopped falling for a full minute, maybe more, and there was NO WAY for me to get out of the minigame. I started moving back and forth along the playing field to see if that triggered more clothing drops, and it might have, but I'm not sure... Occasionally clothes would drop right on the other end of the field when I was near the quest-giver (where the camera pulled away from the playing field too). I took the grappling path, and that was okay, if slightly awkward... It feels like with the bouncing grabby things, you could just as easily have done that section without the grappling hook, and it would've felt more solid. Good visuals again at the end. You've got a handle on that and on the visual design! Level just feels like it could be prodded at a bit more to make it more player-friendly. | 2012-02-11 20:22:00 Author: Unknown User |
Thanks for the feedbacks ^_^". Will surely do something about them The mid path was actually without grappling hook before , so thats why you felt it that way xD ... maybe I should make it back the original way. About the way out of mini games, I have them configured to circle and R3 I think? Falling burning clothes is randomized, but ill take what you said into account and make the waiting time lower 8D. Btw, Any level you want feedback on :o ? | 2012-02-11 21:02:00 Author: Senrir Posts: 126 |
Well, you already left me about a line of feedback on "Hobo Warrior"... Would be nice to see an elaboration, as I asked for in the thread! But hey, if you wanna play any of the other levels ("Big darn Wheels Inc.", "Hobo Wizard"), sure! | 2012-02-11 21:07:00 Author: Unknown User |
Ill get to it after fixing them things you mentioned ^_^". Gimme 10 mins Amazing how much things you suddenly forget when doing logics, just found out that no-exit mini game you mentioned xD | 2012-02-11 21:54:00 Author: Senrir Posts: 126 |
