If you want smooth rotation of a 3D cam, you have to keep the camera in place and rotate the environment around it - which can make it look like all the shadows are moving, so you have to be very careful with lighting. I've played around with some community templates but never build a level with one.
I made a maze with 3D cam using a "point snap" system I made. It's pretty simple and reliable, the rotation is smooth but you can't move around while rotating the camera. The maze is part of this level (notice the dim lighting so you don't see shadows moving), you have to go through the first level link to get there: http://lbp.me/v/bw50s- If you like the point snap system and want to use it, I'll write a little tutorial.

The other option is to switch between fixed camera angles (left, right, front, back). I think this is the much easier option, although I don't have experience building a level in that style.

This level is WAY to big to rotate the enviroment. I'm using 90 degree turns.2012-09-03 20:38:00

Yep, the 3d camera is basically a glitch, NO IDEA why mm doesnt just make it an option, does it use more processing power because it has to calculate distance objects, lighting etc? I guess ultimately, mm wants to keep lbp as a platformer creator, rather than what it actually is which is a game creator, so basically, the 3d camera is a nightmare to use unless you make small rotating playable areas,(both of which peekachoo has already pointed out) or use the awful four axis view, which spoils the whole look of the game play in my opinion....sorry, I'm not offering any advice here, just having a little rant I guess
Best of luck
