The Drowned Dungeon

Archive: 18 posts

Back in LBP1 I made a level called The Drowned Dungeon. It was decent enough, and it got spotlighted here, but I decided to delete it in LBP2 because it wasn't up to my standards. This level is a remake of that, but it has much more unique gameplay, such as obstacles that use centrifugal force, a switch that allows you to control the water level with L1 and L2, and Megaman style platforms. It is moderately challenging, but not to the extent of the Grievant Palace. I'm also much more generous with lives and hints, and no puzzles are overly challenging, save for one that I gave a couple of non-subtle hints for.

Also, this level is voice acted by SLS10, and it's canon in our Cawniverse. Yaaaaaaaay.

Now I can just sit back and watch people complain that it's too hard. I can also count on StevenI playing it, but then leaving and playing some bland platformer instead (that he will almost certainly pick because hey, the LBP community doesn't respond well to innovation. Give kids more cookie cutter platformers that anyone can make and they will be content). At any rate, this will be my last level for a while because I'm starting university. The second part will be released whenever I can actually work on it, and the other levels I'm working on are on hold.

yeah, I don't think it's that hard either, but a majority of people who tested it for me thought it was.

Try some of my other levels if you want a real challenge.

What is it about LBP2 that means levels containing this type of thoughtful gameplay rarely get made? There were plenty of these puzzley-platformers in the first game, but so few now.

Had no idea it was a remake, but I definitely felt a smidge of nostalgia playing it. Much enjoyed bonner, thanks.

It's because with LBP2, we have so many tools that there's this drive to be complex. People don't pay attention to the physics and mechanics of this game anymore; they make their own.

I also addressed a glitch with the momentum obstacle with the bounce pad on it. There's now a gyroscope so it resets.

Hey, I played at your level today.

It's a good level with good design, a kind of pirate's island, various obstacles and gameplay with some clever idea. I found it a bit difficult but not impossible at all, a good challenge

And good luck for your next levels ^^

If physics-based water levels based on oranges were popular, this'd be the level that would be the cause of its popularity.

Because it's anti-bad. It's got that quality of not-terribleness that other levels don't have.

It's a genre I hope to start. Also, people should get ready for Objectivist Owl Battles the Legions of Hell. It will be quite blighty.

Just played your level its very onque its challenging its not to hard not to easy i loved the logic that was put in to it.

The orange was funny iv never seen any one use an orange in there level before its very original.

The only thing i'd suggest is hiding the logic. other than that its an awsome level!.

I'm stuck in the chamber with three water levels a cube of grabable sponge attached to the floor, a barrel and a switch that makes a red rectangle come out with an arrow on it. What do I do? lol2012-09-07 21:53:00

LOL you need to take the sponge and bump the barrel to the other side to swich layers and then i got on that barrel and then whent up to the higher level.

Okay, that seems to be the puzzle everyone has trouble with. Here's my fabulous walkthrough:

You need to set the water level to medium, and you need to push the barrel into the water. You use the sponge to push the barrel to the other side while it's on the second layer. There's an alternate solution, but it's much more tedious. After that, you set the water level to low and you push the barrel in-front of the red thing. The button activates an in-out mover, and once the barrel is on the front layer you set the water level to high. You need to get some momentum with it in order to reach the platform which you do by using the setting the water level to medium then high in quick succession.
