This is the official LBPC thread for LBP Hub, which is a FREE iPhone/iPad/iTouch app giving the user a unique LBP.me interface as well as functionality that is available nowhere else.

You can find LBP Hub here: http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=526391848&mt=8

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OukmB2aGheI&feature=player_embedded

Along with a new user interface for LBP.me designed specifically for you smart phone or tablet, LBP Hub also gives you:

1) The ability to follow your favorite creators. When viewing any creator's profile from in-app, just touch the follow button. The app will then notify you next time they publish or modify a level.

http://i609.photobucket.com/albums/tt179/amazingflyingpoo/NewLevelLBH.png (http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=526391848&mt=8)

2) LBP Hub sums up all the data for your levels and presents it to you whenever you open the app. This way you don't have to fish through all of your levels to see how each level has been doing. It presents all the data for each level in one place, then you can use the app to view each level individually and read reviews, comments, and view activity.

http://i609.photobucket.com/albums/tt179/amazingflyingpoo/RecentActivity.png (http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=526391848&mt=8)

3) Once you are done viewing all your level information you can easily go straight to any LBP forum, blog, music, or podcast straight from in-app using the Portal.

If there is anything that you would like added to LBP Hub, then please comment in this thread or PM me. I plan to continually update the app as long as people are using it so I am excited to hear what people would like to see.

Please remember to rate the app on the AppStore (http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=526391848&mt=8)

wait, do I have to post in this thread too? I already said "oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy, I can't wait to steal my daughter's Ipod and put this on it," in that other thread. That would just be too much typing and I'm not in the mood for typing out a long thing saying congratulations for having it finally be approved and released to the public. And also that I hope everyone who has an appropriate device downloads this magical app., which obviously is short for "application" and that they use it all the time. No, I don't want to have to spend a lot of time typing all of that, so good day sir. I SAID, "GOOD DAY!"2012-08-31 17:04:00

Really excellent stuff! Polished, nice graphics, nice animations.

Couple question:

1. Is this an ObjectiveC app?
2. Is there a reason there's no "MOAR" button when looking at my published levels? I can't see all of them in the list.

Very nice job, Amazingflyingpoo. Now if you could only make a Vita version...

Well, there is a developer kit (http://www.playstation.com/psm/developer/index_e.html) (beta) for the vita. Anyways, this app is designed for iPhone/iPod Touch, not iPad, so if you do run it on your iPad, it will be scaled (the app isn't "universal"). Nice app btw.

On the iPad HD there is a scaler. so you can still run iPod apps on iPad. just at lower res.

2. Is there a reason there's no "MOAR" button when looking at my published levels? I can't see all of them in the list.

Glad to hear that you are enjoying the app!

1) Yes, it was written in Objective-C

2) When I started making the app I had originally planned to use JSON Feeds that are available to retrieve information from for LBP.me. I figured that using these feeds would probably increase the chance that the app would run fine even when LBP.me was updated. Well, as added more and more functionality to the app, it became obvious that these feeds just weren't adequate. One of the many limitations is that you can only retrieve the 10 most recent levels for a category. So, I ditched the feed idea for all cases except a users levels. I kept using that one in hopes that even with a site change by Sony/Mm, the user would still have access to their level info without a crash (but as soon as they access Mm Picks or Trending it would go sour).

Chances are good that even with the JSON Feed being used for a users levels, the app will still crash once a major site update comes along, so I will probably just switch over to retrieving a user's level info the same way I am grabbing Mm Pick info and that will allow you to see more than 10 levels.

Hope that sort of makes sense. And don't worry, when LBP.me is updated, I will be posting an app update ASAP to fix the app if it causes the app to stop functioning

Just published a new level, and this app made following the levels progress a breeze! What a wonderful tool, great work!

I'm glad to see you are making full use of the "Recent Activity" functionality. The optimal time to be using it is with a level launch since it will easily keep you up to date with how the level is doing.

Awesome, thanks! Will this be compatible with LBP Vita and LBP Karting when they release?

I have no idea how LBP.me will change to accommodate Karting and LBP Vita, but I plan on making the app work with that side of the site as well

Fantastic work. Thank you.

A lot of my beta testers requested this functionality, but every few days one of them would request something new, and if I just kept adding things then the app would have never gone live. This is certainly something that I plan to add, though I can pretty much guarantee it will not be in the first update. The first update will be to fix bugs that people find since I just went from a userbase of ~7 testers to a userbase of hundreds of users.

This post was a bit confusing because it had a quote in middle of it. I can't tell if it is answering a question or asking a question. Either way, you are correct that it can scale up on an iPad, but the images will not appear low-res because they are high res images so that the app will look crisp on the iPhone4's retina screen. All the artwork will look great on the iPad, but the dynamic text may appear slightly blurry when scaled up. It should still be very readable though

This is a great idea and something that I plan on implementing. I was even considering doing a push notification news feed that I send out notifications manually (about fansites, Mm Picks, updates, etc...).

Great idea!

Would be cool if someone manages to keep update of the news feed to avoid you the extra work
and i mean also for the standard internet.
maybe even some kind of widget that fansites can update would be nice

I think that your idea would be the absolute best scenario because I could hand that side of the app off to the community leaders to use as they want. Obviously we couldn't have spamming of notifications, but it would be nice to allow all the major sites to be able to post about things like their Pick Hubs, major stories, etc...

Thanks for the feedback!

Have you got the PSSuite or it could be called PSMobile now? I'm not sure if the beta is still out there, but it would mean that if you made it for the Vita using that you'd have a huge audience of many Android devices that are partners with Sony, such as Wikipad

Ok since you guys don't giving poo a calm down about Android version, i guess i need to do ofical statement. Yes im working on Android version, i did parrael with poo's iOS version, but 1. his faster then me 2. I got distracted by LBPKarting Beta and Olimpics.... as well as Paraolimpics, sicne those are over i try to be back on track ^^' im really sorry about that, specialy Poo since now Android users bather him

Ok i will tell the status of app so you guys know whats up with it ;]

First of all it won't be LittleBigHub port, this app will be 100% diffrent app, more Android like UI and will have diffrent name. I got some my own ideas for some cool features which you wont see in LBHub (as well vice-versa)

I defently (but not 100%) know it's gonna have minimum Android 2.2 requirment due fact since then screen dencity relative pixel units been implemnted and im using them intensivitly for level icons composition, when i run app in 2.1 icons are dislocated. Besieds it gives 96% userbase accessibility:

http://developer.android.com/about/dashboards/index.html

....which is not bad.

I got data retriving code ready for everythign then pins data which is hard to capture. All its missing is UI (for now i only had prototype UI for testing data code retriving), i got main screen half way done. I also ocnsidering waiting for LBPV and LBPK since it may bring dramatic changes to LBP.Me which would require changeing data retriving code.I can't tell when app will be ready so no relese date.

I hope you guys satisfied with info ;] ......and LEAVE POO ALONE!!!! *crys*

PSMobile is not Android based it's Sony own platfrom running on Mono (open source version of Microsoft's .NET which is Java wannabe). If it was Android based you would already seen Android apps on it and it would work without me doing anything.

It's good to see you are getting some official word out about your Android LBP.me app Shadow! I certainly didn't mind having people ask about an Android version, but I am sure they will be happy to get an official word from you instead of me mentioning it off-hand like I have been.

I am excited to see these new features you are cooking up! And BTW, I have seen Shadow's Android app running and the Andoid LBPers out there should be excited!

On a completely different note, LBP Hub was featured on Sack It To Me: http://blog.us.playstation.com/2012/09/10/sack-it-to-me-the-awesomesauce-littlebighub/

Because Android is Linux and can run any linux application, thru it may use Android's NDK (non-Java Android app) to run PSMobile apps

Oh one more thing Actully very importent thing, i don't know if poo said that, but both apps (mine and poos) is very sensitive to changes in LBP.Me. if it's updated may go buggy or even crash. Since we can't predict updates, we can't avoid it, so all you can do is wait for update of app. So ahead warning since LBPV and LBPK coming which will defiantly update LBP.Me, so don't panic if thta hapens ;]2012-09-12 03:56:00

I have downloaded this app- it is great. However, as one does not require a password to log into their account, people could log into the account of other people, and add their levels to the queue of the person whose account they have logged into, in a hope that those people would play it/ them. As you have probably guessed, this could be a potential problem. I have tested this theory with the account of my friend (who gave me permission), and the level which I selected was in his queue.2012-09-20 18:03:00

App does not log in to PSN, it's impossible to login to PSN without password.... it more like login to app it self all data that is needed to provide info you profile is public (if you allow) so it's possible to grab you level data just by typing whats you PSN name. I already said poo that he name it wrong, since now people taking this too seriously.

Excellent question (and thanks to ShadowRiver for replying!). I didn't do the best of jobs naming this seeing as it has raised a lot o unintentional concern. I made a post that was put on the LittleBigLand blog to explain why there is no security issue: http://www.littlebigland.com/littlebighub-security-concerns/

Version 1.2 of LBP Hub was submitted this morning (I submitted it yesterday afternoon but then needed to resubmit because of an <iOS6 issue). This update is HUGE and should really help add to the experience.

Here is what the update will contain:

1) Music has been added which was supplied by WeirdyBeardy

2) Sounds from LBP2 have been added throughout the app.

3) Data management has been added so now you can opt out of loading creator/player avatars and/or level links, which are what uses the most data in the app. If you opt out then there will just be the standard placeholder level link or player avatar. This will help make the app load much more quickly when using a slow 3G connection.

4) A settings menu has been added which is where you can adjust music, sound, and data settings.

5) Credits have been added so you can see everyone who helped out with LBP Hub.

6) There was an issue with loading more activity for a level when you pressed the "MOAR" button. Last week it began just loading the same page every time you pressed it because of a change on LBP.me. That has been corrected and you can once again load older activity.

7) Push Notifications have been added. This could turn out to be the best thing about the app for those who like to hear about LBP News the second it happen. Notifications will be used to pass LBP news such as new Mm Picks, forum level hubs, podcasts, DLC announcements/news, etc... as soon as the news is announced, and your iOS device will play a LBP sound when the news is pushed to it if you have the sound on.

8) A number of things were changed to improve memory management which will help the app to load and run more smoothly.

Version 1.2 of LBP Hub went live last night. Here are pics and a description of what you will find:

1) Music has been added! Thanks to WeirdyBeardy, we now have music made in LBP to play while you use the app.

2) Sound FX from LBP2 have been added into the app. As you navigate through LBP Hub you should hear plenty of very familiar sounds to make it feel like a true LBP experience.

3) Data Usage Settings have been added to that you can choose how much data you want to use. This won't really matter for those of you only using Wifi, but if you are using 3G/4G, you can now opt out of retrieving user Avatars and/or Level Links:

When you have data set to LOW, user Avatars and Level Links will fill in with default images:

4) Push Notifications have been added so that up-to-the-minute news can be pushed to you. Now you can be notified about all of the happenings around the community like new DLC, Mm Picks, Hubs, Podcasts, etc... without spending every waking moment on a forum

5) Settings have been added to LBP Hub:

You can navigate through the settings to adjust the Volume of Music and Sound FX:

or to adjust the Data Settings:

6) Credits have been added to show who has helped to make LBP Hub what it is:

7) LittleBigForum and Radio Playstation have been added to the Portal

I'm really sorry this is being asked again, so I will answer it again. ShadowRiverUB is currently working on a version for Android users. If you would've looked up 2 or 3 posts you could have learned this.

Update 1.3 went live over the weekend and here is what has changed and been added:

1) The biggest addition is the addition of in-app News. After adding Push Notifications with update 1.2, it was requested many, many times that the News shows up in-app since it will disappear out of your push notifications as soon as you view any single push (making it easy to lose news if you have multiple stories waiting for you).

http://i609.photobucket.com/albums/tt179/amazingflyingpoo/News.png

2) You can now share about levels on Facebook or Twitter from in-app. When viewing a Level's Page, just touch the Facebook or Twitter button.

http://i609.photobucket.com/albums/tt179/amazingflyingpoo/Facebook.png http://i609.photobucket.com/albums/tt179/amazingflyingpoo/Twitter.png

3) The main screen of the app has been rearranged a bit to make room for the News section. Now the News is in the bottom-right where the Search button used to be, and Search and Settings are in the top-right corner. You will find a button to follow @LBPHub on twitter in the bottom-left corner:

http://i609.photobucket.com/albums/tt179/amazingflyingpoo/MainScreen.png

4) The Level Page has been changed to add the Facebook and Twitter buttons. Before this update, level stats were shown on this page, but it was becoming to cluttered so a "Level Information" button has been added and pressing this will cause a new screen with the level stats to appear.

http://i609.photobucket.com/albums/tt179/amazingflyingpoo/LevelPage.png http://i609.photobucket.com/albums/tt179/amazingflyingpoo/Stats.png

5) Credits were added with update 1.2, but they were a bit bland, there was a spelling error, and names needed to be added. Because of this, the credits have been redone to add LBP Artwork and correct the issues.

http://i609.photobucket.com/albums/tt179/amazingflyingpoo/Credits-1.png

6) Some bugs were fixed as well.

The first happened when someone you were following would delete all of their levels. This was a critical bug because the app would no longer open if it occurred. It has been resolved.

The second bug was introduced with update 1.2. If you got a phone call while using LBP Hub, when you returned to the app the music and sounds would no longer play unless you closed the app and reopened it. This issue has been resolved.

Thanks for using the app, and please remember to review it on iTunes if you have no done so already: REVIEW APP HERE (http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=526391848&mt=8) (You need to select "View in iTunes" on the left-hand side and you can then review it in iTunes)

Hey I was just wondering something, it says that I require iOS5 or higher to use this new update. Thing is my iPad doesn't have that, so what should I do? Can I download iOS5, if so how?Ah, yes that could be an issue.

You need to sync your iPad with iTunes on your computer. Once you've done that, you will have an option to update your iPad to the latest version of iOS. It's not very hard to do but it can take a couple hours waiting for the files to download and install. Mostly you just plug it in, click a couple things, and then go do something else while your iPad does its thing.

The nice thing is that once you update to iOS5 (or better), future firmware updates take place via background cloud downloads - WAY easier than syncing to your computer with a physical cable.

Wow thanks! You'd be suprised how hard an answer that is to find on the internet... However, I knew my trusted pals at LBPC would give me an answer in no time at all.

Apple is making it harder and harder to develop for <iOS5, so finally I just gave in and I'm only releasing apps for iOS5+ because it's not worth the trouble of working against how Apple has set everything up to work with iOS5+ when developing but nothing lower.

I think you'll be happy that you updated to iOS5 though :-)

BTW, thanks for offering the solution Tom!

Glad to hear it! I may be mistaken, but I believe you were one of the people who requested to have the news in-app after update 1.2 went live

I am really happy to have the news there now. It's nice having the latest 25ish stories (which usually covers about a week) at your fingertips.

I just downloaded the app and it's really amazing! The artwork and sounds feel so perfectly LBP and the navigation is so easy and convenient. It definitely deserves five stars, more even, if that was possible . I only wish there was a full scale iPad version, or if it could work for the LBP.me of LBP Vita. But that's being picky . This app is already completely great as it is. Thanks so much for making it!2012-11-18 15:07:00

Thanks for the feedback! It is great that you like the app. As for the iPad version and the vita.lbp.me support, info about both of those should be coming in the next few weeks. Neither is in the works yet, but I am hoping they will be soon enough

By the way, it is great to hear from you Phalaina, it has been a while!

I don't know if this has been pointed out yet or not, but I found a bug. (who would've guessed I'd find something )

Anyway, what I found I'll make a step by step process.

From the main menu:
1. Select search
2. Click the text box and have the keyboard popup
3. Swipe back to the main menu (The keyboard will still be up)
4. Hit search (you can enter a psn if you want)
5. The result is the main menu and the search/player menu overlapping.

EDIT: Messing around with this, I managed to get an infinite number pages(or at least every settings page) on the screen at the same time, while only being in control of one, by selecting the settings menu when I still had the keyboard up and hitting search with any of the settings pages open. I'll grab some pics.

EDIT 2: Pics!

When you hit search without entering a psn:

The rest of the pics are just nonsense...

Wow, that is not only a great catch, but also an excellent bug report! It took me a second to realize what you meant at step #4 because I would just hit "Search" at the top of the screen and it would take me back and all was well, but eventually I realized that you meant to hit "Search" on the keyboard.

Thanks for giving the detailed steps to make the issue repeatable. I will certainly fix this with the next update

On a different note, do you have any idea why your pics don't show up? They are just broken images for me It's no big deal since I was able to repeat the issue by following your instructions.

Yeah, it will be a super simple fix. I just resign the keyboard as first responder when the view is pushed off screen and it will close and even if it is not open it will not cause any issues. I'll probably hold off on releasing an update which fixes this until I have more to add though. An update simply for a rare bug like this would be a bit overkill 2012-11-30 13:49:00

An update simply for a rare bug like this would be a bit overkill Well I did find another issue that may be worth addressing. So the other day I was playing the Spice Girls game while doing a handstand on an old DDR pad and humming the Star Spangled Banner. I found that the harmonies generated by the background music and the Spice Girls sound track (coupled with RF interference from the DDR pad) were not as ideally pleasing as they could be. So if you could address that it would be great.

Granted, this may be something of an edge case, but I figured you should know.

This app is great, but lately I haven't been able to use it at all. Whenever I press Get Started, I get a message that my PSN is "not someone who plays LittleBigPlanet online", then I'm automatically taken back to the Get Started page.
It's an iPad 2, iOS 5.1.1

The update (v1.4) has been approved by Apple and should be showing up across the world in the following 24 hours. It is already available in NA, but it may take longer for other regions. If you update and it still doesn't work then make sure that you updated to version 1.4. Right when a new update shows up for some reason the app store can sometimes still display an older update. I've had reports on Twitter of this happening to people, but if they waited a bit longer then new update showed up and ran fine for them 2013-01-03 21:40:00
