Flame as in Full Metal Rabbit?

Archive: 9 posts

Hi,

Is it possible to have bursts of flame as you see in the level Full Metal Rabbit? I understand how to have a flaming ball be emitted as a hazard. Is the gush of flame something that Media Molecule didn't make available as a level creation tool?

Many thanks.

I'm afraid I don't entirely understand your post, so bare with me.
The way the OP is written, I assume you're saying you know how to create a circle and set it on fire.
What I believe you're missing is the Flame object which can be found next to the Water, Electricty and Plasma balls, below the Spikes and Explosive stuff in the Popit.

Those Meanies are firing the Flame balls in rapid succession, which is entirely possible for us to create.

When you jump on the platforms, squishing the imps, they spout flame at you trying to kill you, before the level link. This does not look like a ball. It is a geyser of flame, that expands and recedes horizontally. Emitting a flame hazard spits out a ball that is on fire. It doesn't give you that gorgeous spout of flame. I am unsure how else to describe it. Definitely not your standard emitted ball of fire hazard.2012-08-29 21:56:00

I assure you it's a specific item in the popit. They are little balls of fire that behave similarly to the Paintballs from the MGS pack.
You're correct - it's not just regular material with the Fire Lethalisation applied - but they are indeed little balls of fire.

Ah, I see.
The way you spoke you made it sound like you were referring to the Meanies. The Meanies shoot the regular fire balls.

However, I believe those enemies in the YT video are firing invisible Hologram with the Fire Lethalisation.
Invisible hologram still displays flames, even though the material itself is invisible.

Perhaps you could suggest emitter settings to duplicate the effect? Is it something along the line of balls being rapidly generated but with very brief lifespans? Perhaps the balls are just blurring together in my vision when viewing the game play.

Edit: okay, so I need to create a custom item to emit to achieve the effect. I am a relatively novice level designer, but I did wade through all the tutorials. If you give general steps I can get there.

It might be an idea to play with the settings in the Creatinator Tutorial to see what kind of settings you need to use since its basically an Emitter strapped to your head, If your still struggling feel free to come join me and I'll see if I can help 2012-08-29 22:32:00

Yes, that's the idea. A single triangle of invisible holo set on fire is the approach I took to make the Dracolich at the very end of BloodStone Part 3 breathe gouts of flame...I think it looks very nice. Just play around with the frequency/lifespan (start with .1) and linear speed that the holo is emitted until you think it looks good.

I probably used expand for the create effect and dissappear for destroy.
