Hey guys! Long, long time no see! I've finally managed to publish a new level today, and I'm happy to say, it's much much smoother than my first level that I posted a year ago...

The level is called Hardwired, and follows a little personal experience I had, with some obvious embellishment.

I know there's a guide up top to make all my stuff show up, but I swear, I've tried everything it said and more, and I can't get it to work, the options it lists are not on my computer.

Hopefully you'll excuse all the links and such and maybe give it a shot? It's my second level ever, but it is worlds above my other one. As usual, if you find bugs of any kind, PLEASE let me know, so I can fix it promptly! I've tested this thing repeatedly, but who knows, someone may find something new.

I have this listed as F4F, as such, I'll have time to review around 10 people's level as well, I'm in college though, so promptness really depends on my workload for the day.

If I find I have time to review more, I'll be sure to do any others as well.

Yeah, it never went over 84 plays, but in hindsight, I guess it had some bad design choices. I took all the advice you guys gave me for that level though, and included it in my new one.

There's been one person who said that there is a section of this level that is too difficult, I am aware of this, and am working on rigging a few cameras so things can be seen a bit better, don't worry! I should have those up and running by tonight.

I always forget that just because I know what's coming, others don't. It will be remedied promptly!

EDIT: added some helpful camera's so you could see what lies ahead! Hopefully that helps with some of the frustration

the scenery needs a bit of touching up. Try to use more materials like neon and avoid using large amounts of the circuit board material. You may also want to try to make the ground less flat. I did, however, like the scenery with binary code
The story was a bit odd and I was dissapointed at the end when you accidentally released the virus and never faught it.
Overall, the level was pretty enjoyable and provided a nice challenge. With a bit of touchup on scenery, this level will be amazing.

The mechanics were amazing, but at the beginning, the rising platforms knock you into electricity, but other than that, flawless.
the scenery needs a bit of touching up. Try to use more materials like neon and avoid using large amounts of the circuit board material. You may also want to try to make the ground less flat. I did, however, like the scenery with binary code

Yes, the platforms in the beginning are actually meant to knock you into the electricity if you jump too fast, sorry if it seemed like an accident.

I can speed up the platforms quite easily, but then it just seemed bland.

And yes, I was dissapointed also that i couldn't impliment a boss battle, but my thermo was maxed, and I didn't feel I could make it interesting enough with a level link.

I'll take the cosmetic stuff into consideration, but it'll be REALLY hard to get them in, as my thermo is topped off. I'll work on it though!

Thanks again for the nice words, I was trying my hardest not to make it a "just walked through" type of level like my last one was, and I guess it turned out ok!

EDIT: And I'll be sure to play your level! It may not be until friday night though, as I have a few exams friday afternoon, hope that's ok!

Thanks for trying it a second time! Glad it worked better with the fixes!

I'll work on the scenery, I fleshed out the mechanics first and it left me with not a whole lot of room for "fluff" but I'm busy working on some nice cosmetic stuff though as suggested

Thanks again so much for the feedback everyone, it helps me improve stuff so much! Hopefully this one will break 84 plays!

Also, Ive noticed 2 people didnt complete the level, if that happens to anyone, could you let me know the reason, i can try to fix the problem. <3

UPDATE ON F4F:

Sorry about the delays guys, I really do have them que'd, but I'm in a bit of a jam with my Calc class, and had to go away over the labor day weekend, so I didn't get a chance to play them yet! I'm tenatively setting the deadline for myself of thursday, if I don't review them by then, yell at me please.

Mind telling me exactly what was the trouble part? I tried to add some cameras in so people know what is coming, but yes, I admit it is a difficult level, hence the warning right in the description.

Also, i noted you took a photo of something, but I can't tell what it is showing? Is there a bug?

There wasin't any bugs i mint to post a photo is all...I just died a few times and just gave up...Its a great level just a little to hard for me.

EDIT: Yep, Here's some feedback:

Presentation:
The badge was OK. For some reason, I keep feeling it is missing something, it is a bit "empty", still its cool. The story seemed a bit random, but the ending made me lolz.

Level:
So, after playing some of bonner123's levels, this didn't seem that hard, but to be honest, it is pretty frustarting. First of all, the graphics. I liked the way you used the material of the background to make Tetris-like shapes, but you should really have used 2 materials at the least. It felt simple and repetitive to be watching the same crome material over and over again. And sometimes, you used the microchip material too often, like here:

I enjoyed the level, the gameplay was fun yet hard, and almost everything felt fair enough. The first thing that really frustrated me was this:

In here you can see what I was talking about materials selection. Make something different, so that you don't see the same thing all the time.
Last but not least, this is probably the most tricky challenge in the level, i would suggest adding a help box, because it took me a while to figure it out, and almost made me quit:

Let's go to the grades!

Gameplay 3/5 It is original and fun, but some parts need polishing, to be honest some felt a bit unfair, but it was overall good enough.
Graphics 2.5/5 Not so good. The microchip material felt too repetitive, and you should mix the background material with other ones more.
Sound 4/5 Great! I liked how techno thingies could be heard when I grappled stuff, etc.
Overall 3/5 Good level. Lots of things can be improved, but its not bad at all. Surely deserves way more plays than the little plays it has.

No F4F required, I do this to help

OMG, I'm really not sure what happened there Des, if the picture was the problem area...

There is a rotating bounce pad that is supposed to pop up, rotate around, and settle back down...

I'm really at a loss if it broke for you, never had it happen before. Could you let me know what happened when you get the chance? Ill fix it asap!

Ehmmm... If you're talking to me, then no, it didn't broke. I was just pointing that the challenge with those mentioned rotating bounce pads is tricky, hard, hard-to-understand. because you have to skip some (you don't have the time to jump in every single bounce pad) if you want to get to the end of the room before the timer finishes. I'm actually trapped in the hole that the jump pads came out of. It's not game breaking but I did have to pop myself. I think what happened was I used the grapple hook and it hooked onto the underneath of the jump pads which sent me down where the jump pads came from. Or I used the grapple hook and the jump pads got in the way flinging me into the ground.

I actually thought some of your gaps where a bit too tight on obstacles, bordering on frustration so I eventually gave up and went back to my pod. It was a bit confusing with the pull levers and where to go between the lethal plasma balls and gaps. Some parts just seemed a bit unfair by design and placement. Could do with a bit of polishing up. I tried quite a few times not to quit but eventually did. Not that it's a bad level though. Very clean and techy looking.

(no need to do F4F on my level, it's been put far too long & I'm yet to be motivated to finish my part 2 to it and sort a bug)
