ASHAMED to ask (but will anyway)

What do 'speed scale' and 'positional' do on a sequencer?? I dont remember it being in a lbp2 tutorial. But then I dont remember many things.2012-08-28 08:47:00

speed scale speeds it up depending on the value of the analogue signal and positional is exactly how it sounds. If you put a counter into the sequencer, put it on positional and then adjust the settings on the counter, you'll see for yourself2012-08-28 10:31:00

I'm clever, but I'm stupid at the same time. Analogue signal from WHERE??...the toggle?? My logic experience is very limited.
Thanks, and I'll try the other.

Analogue signals are when you have something like a Timer or a Counter giving a signal that is somewhere between 0% and 100%. Certain devices like Toggles only have digital outputs, meaning they're either on (100%) or off. (0%)
The percentage of the signal, varies on the amount the device is filled by. So, a Counter, set to count to 10, with a value of 5 currently active, is giving a 50% analogue signal.

Now, when we look at the positional settings on a Sequencer, what it does is, if the input signal is at 50%, the Seq's playbar will be half way along the Seq's board. If you decrease the analogue signal, the playbar would move backwards, remaining relative to whatever the new analogue signal is.

With Speed Scale, what you're doing is altering the playbars speed based on the analogue signal. Say you have a Sequencer, set to play 1 bar, within 1 second. If you only have a 50% signal, the playbar can only go at half the speed, meaning each bar would now require 2 seconds, rather than 1.

Gribbles post was accurate, but I figured I'd go into a bit more depth given there was some confusion.
EDIT - In fact, Gribbles post was 100% accurate, meaning it was giving out a digital signal of 'On'.

Future, take a gander at Compher's tutorials for a visual representation and examples. I can halfway understand the explanation that Gribble and Ostler have given but It's still all Greek to me.

The signals that affect the speed setting could be:

A player standing closer to a proximity sensor.
A timer.
A counter.
......um, are there more? hehe.

Anyway, I'm sure you can see that depending on what you attach to the counter could give you great control over changing how fast your sequencer will go. Many other tools have speed settings too.

Never be ashamed to ask any question, no matter how simple it is. The thing is that LBP works on a need to know basis, so if you try to understand without context you'll confuse yourself. If you wanted to make a Geiger counter for instance you would then have a reason to explore all of these settings, but until then any information people give you will be forgotten pretty quickly.

edit: after mentioning the Geiger counter I went away and made one! There really should be a 'signal strength' and 'closeness' setting on the player sensor. I had to use a sackbot and a tag sensor. Come on Tarsier!!!
