Time distortion

Archive: 4 posts

Hey everyone! I'm takin a brake from my cave explorer game and working on something else instead. I was thinking about making a top down action explorer. What I want to do is have you walk around in a open area with 3 dungeons to explore. I also want there to be lots of secrets in the open world. I know this game design is generic. But I love the old top down Zelda games and wanted to make my own. The biggest theme to my game is time distortion. I want to make it so you can control the flow of time. Speed it up or slow it down. I'm not to sure how well this will work but I think it'll be interesting. So far I have the general level lay out and I'm working on attacks. All I have is sword and knife throwing. Not sure if I want to add more because I don't want it to be to complex and I'll need the room for the time distortion. But once I have that set up and most of the level done I might add more. I was also thinking about having the open world on one map and doing level links to the dungeons. I'm also including a upgrade system for your attacks. Maybe also for the time distortion. Maybe make it last longer not sure yet. If any one has any ideas or can give me some links for the time distortion I would really appreciate it. I'm also looking for any music people. I hate and am horrible at making custom music. If any one would like to help leave a comment and I'll contact you as soon as I can. Thanks!2012-08-23 07:03:00

An idea for time distortion: how about a series of enemies show up, and you go into slow motion, and use your throwing knives to take out the enemies, by hitting them in their weak spots (which only flash up for a small amount of time). Just an idea.2012-08-23 17:32:00

I was thinkin about doing that but I might have to scratch the whole idea. I forgot that a moving layer doesn't effect the layer in front of it and that's a crucial part of the level design. I'm trying to figure out how to do this but can't. If you or anyone has any ideas please share!2012-08-24 06:55:00

What do you mean by that?
