Where is the Progressive Level?

Archive: 8 posts

I wanted to check out the Progressive level, and get the stuff. Problem is I can't find the level you are supposed to download.

I found a few community members who made levels already in protest to progressive using lbp to advertise. I'm not sure how I feel about that. Big contests like this are a good way to get exposure. And if I won a new PS3 I'd give my old one to my brother who moved out of state.

Progressive allegedly hired a lawyer to defend the at-fault driver of a fatal collision that was Progressive's responsibility to pay out on (http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/events/progressive-insurance-lawsuit-scandal).

It's turning into a hot topic because of a social media blunder involving Progressive's PR bot on Twitter that spammed a message "feeling sorry" for the victims while, if there's any truth to the news about the lawsuit, Progressive is actively contributing to the problem. It's like punching a kid in the face while tweeting to everyone else, "It's so unfortunate that this kid has to go through this terrible experience."

There's surely a few sides to the story. It's been stated that the situation is not as it seems, but it's out there now and trending. That's social media for you and LBP is, for better or worse, social media. I think Progressive is wide open for a good bit of ribbing. Even without this mess, though, car insurance has little place in a game like LBP. I say bring it on. Let everyone learn a lesson or three.

UPDATE: Maybe the reason you can't access the level is because Progressive actually pulled the campaign. It would make sense, in light of the above.

Which is too bad, because I kind of would have liked to see the inevitable spam-publishing of levels that say...

@LBP This is a tragic contest, and our sympathies go out to all the creators and the pain they've had to endure by getting fewer plays because a badly-conceived car insurance ad campaign is cannibalizing their audience.

Or something to that effect.

The actual level(s) could re-enact the worst, least flattering version of events surrounding the lawsuit. I'd laugh to see it community-voted to the top. Not a vindictive person, but them's the trends. Social media used as satire in the eye of a terrible social media storm. It's almost required!

The Progressive level is back topping the MM Picks, where "they" (Sony? SCEA? StevenI?) think it belongs. I disagree and I'm done with the Picks.2012-08-21 07:05:00

I'm sure in their heart of hearts, they wouldn't want to MM pick this level, but they have to keep the sponsors happy, otherwise they'll lose a good source of money. I don't blame Sony/SCEA/MM/StevenI, I blame the sponsors.

When I say I'm done, I mean that I will no longer discuss Picks, no longer defend them and - most of all - not accept a Pick in the event of one coming my way. Steven, Mm, Sony, SCEA or whoever claims he is in charge here, can give this 'honor' to someone who wants it. I no longer believe it is a genuine attempt at showcasing creativity - and the inevitable flood of negativity from a segment in the community that comes with a Pick is not worth my trouble anyway.

Putting a level into MM Picks makes it easy to find, but after playing I say it should have been done another way. I have no problem with progressive hosting a contest. As players you don't have to play any of the levels. As creators if you choose to participate, you control the content of your level 100%. Advertizing is everywhere. As I write this, I'm looking at a verizon ad right above my reply window. That isn't bothering me either, if it helps central stay here for me to enjoy then I'm all for it. Advertizing makes my radio free to listen to and tv free to watch.

I need to find out more about this. Thanks for the link.
